This is a very clean and comfortable pub, with well trained and efficient staff. We were welcomed at the bar and shown to,our room with clear and helpful information.
We had a very good evening meal from a comprehensive menu of sandwiches, light meals, Sunday lunches and pub specialities such as steak and chips, fish and chips and lamb shanks. Staff were exemplary.
This is clearly a very popular place for locals to eat on a Sunday and they catered for many large family groups of 8 or more.
It was however very noisy, but a good atmosphere.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with views over the River Dee. Although our room was over the restaurant there was no noise problem. I found the pillow a bit solid and would have preferred a feather one. The bathroom was modern and fresh.
Breakfast was cooked to order, and was good but took a long time to come considering there were very few taking breakfast, and my bacon and my husband’s fish were tepid.
We would recommend this place and would come again.

Our room was small, clean and warm. Bed was very comfy. Nice shower. Soft towels Usual coffee making with additional bottles of water. Room at back overlooked a park. No noise from bar/ restaurant below but could sometimes hear next room speaking when in bathroom. Had a meal in restaurant- lovely food. Nice vibe in bar. . Checked in and out on line. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Definitely will return.

We have just spent 2 nights b&b at The Jug and Bottle. Our double room was comfortable and clean with tasteful decor. We had distant views of the Dee estuary and Welsh hills, though we think in summer when trees are in leaf this won't be the case. The pub had a decent car park. We enjoyed breakfast, good choice and quality and we had a meal one evening too which was tasty and plentiful. Staff were pleasant and professional.
In great location for exploring the Wirral.

Here now, music is really loud in our bedroom and its 11.05 which is really mad as you can hardly hear it in the dining room we are above. The wi fi in the room is barely useable and the bed is also not very comfortable. The room itself is nice and the restaurant and food are excellent

Just back from a one night trip. Lovely place to stay ! Lovely food and lovely people! Everyone from the duty manager to the charming waitress and the lovely lady polishing the front door this morning were so welcoming and obviously proud of this little gem . Food was excellent as was the cask ale and the wine list. Excellent value!
We ate at its sister pub The Ship today at Parkgate where again the service was 1st class ! This chain of pubs is doing something very special that others should learn from !

My absolute favorite place to stay on the Wirral. Centrally located in Heswall, close to shops and the center of town. A pub/restaurant on the ground floor, with several quiet and comfy cozy rooms above, the Jug provides everything you need for a relaxing few days discovering the amazing beauty of the Wirral. Management and the employees have always gone out of their way to make me feel at home, and I do. Delicious dining in the restaurant, and a lovely pub with fireplace, where the locals love to meet. Love the Jug.

Had to rate the hotel 5 stars. The small double room was actually large, everywhere was clean and tidy, tea, coffee and biscuits were provided and the bed was very comfortable. The staff, particularly the blonde lady serving us at breakfast were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was delicious and there was wide range of options available. Definitely recommend

We stayed for one night, a good-sized clean room had everything we needed. We booked to eat in restaurant food was lovely (steak pie...wow) with good service. Breakfast in the morning was good, with continental items available to help yourself and a menu to choose from for cooked items etc. We were out in the evening returning at 11pm so no issues with noise. Staff friendly, I would look to stay here again.

I chose this restaurant for a pre Christmas visit because of previous good experiences. Also my German visitor was a Vegan. Ichose theChristmas lunch and was exceedingly disappointed. Firstly, the pigs in blanket were hard and difficult to eat and also tasteless. The turkey appeared to be warmed up slices with a ready made gravy out of a packet. The vegetables were hard and roast potatoes not crisp at all. In fact it all seemed like a ready meal that was heated in the microwave. Thank goodness my friend had a good meal. Cannot understand a normally brilliant restaurant serving something like this.

My husband and I had a really warm welcome from Ian at The Jug last Friday, and were shown to a lovely comfortable double room (Room 3). We were very impressed and would highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of staying in this area. The breakfast was very nice and plentiful, all the staff were friendly and helpful and everywhere was clean. There's a lot of pride in what they do at The Jug and it really shows. We will definitely be returning to this gem of a place. Loved it!

When can I make a booking for July 2016? ( son getting married in Thurstaston)
Answer from Stange a
Heswall, United Kingdom37 contributions
Hi Rod, For some reason Trip Advisor won't let me put an email address or a website address in the message! So if you google 'The Jug and Bottle, Heswall' and go to our contact page. On there you will find both an email address and our phone number (0151 342 5535). If you drop Andy Graham (the General Manager) an email or give him a call then he will be able to book you in for next year. Kind regards, Zoe
