Rooms in need of a good clean and refurb, landlady is very helpful and pleasant and good pub food. Do not ask for anyone to come to your room the odd job guy has an attitude and rude, the shower runs hot and cold and no thermostat on the radiator so unable to control, the room was to hot and he shut the radiator off completely in March for two nights which was cold at night and I have a health condition so important I am in a comfortable temperature and the shower does not get to hot or cold either. Also made us feel very uncomfortable shouting and swearing at guests to leave around 11am, very unprofessional. Will not be staying there again!

Such an amazing place. Tess was an amazing hostess with the mostess. Couldn’t have done enough for us. We were made to feel like part of the family. Rooms were spacious and clean and comfy beds. Never slept so well
Practically five minutes from the long walk and easy access to London
Food was delicious and huge
Portions great value for money
Will definitely be back
Very poignant writing this review today as the queen is now making her way back to Windsor and at George’s chapel which was the last place we visited whilst there
A holiday to remember in so many ways

I was looking for accommodations for a couple nights that was close to the Windsor Central rail station as well as Windsor Castle and the Union Inn was perfect. Uber fares ranged from $7-$9, from the Inn to the station, Windsor Castle or the Magna Carta.
Let me tell you about the great experience I had at the Inn. I arrived early after arriving on train from London. I arrived several hours before check in but I was met outside by a "long stay" client who offered me a cup of coffee while I waited. It was not long before the proprietress Tess, came out and let me know I could check in as soon as the housekeeper was finished.
I had a wonderful ensuite double room on the second floor above the restaurant and pub.
I had planned to spend Wednesday and Thursday in Old Windsor, attend Windsor Castle an Wednesday and Magna Carta on Thursday, however the Castle is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday!
I was traveling solo and after a full day I saddled up to the pub bar where I was welcomed by the locals. They advertise a pub style menu, which sounds limited but in reality they had a delightful selection of choices for dinner.
A traditional English breakfast is available in the morning and I took advantage of it both days.
After a long day in the Castle on Thursday I looked forward to dinner at the Inn and it did not disappoint. The highlight of the evening occurred when I approached a group of locals that included a very attractive woman that strongly resembled an Australian friend of mine. I will include her picture. I hope I do not get in trouble, :) I was fortunate to join them for dinner. (I think I actually invited myself), regardless they were very welcoming and I did not have to spend the evening by myself and regretted that I was leaving in the morning.
Fun fact: ask Tess about her modeling career and how Hugh Hefner bought a photograph taken by her uncle who was a noted photographer.
Another fun fact; Sir Elton John's house is about a half mile down the road.

The food is terrible, service is unpleasant.
I recommend you order food 24 hours in advance as it takes around that time to make it.
7 rooms was booked and only 5 was given, the guest was not contacted prior which caused much inconvenience and distress.
Reading the reviews we had high expectations for this establishment, but unfortunately was letdown due to the unprofessionalism and hygiene of this hotel.
Tess had also approached myself and other family members and said “your family are getting on my tits” after taking £320 of them for her service.
This was extremely disappointing and unexpected perhaps it was a bad day and she needed to take it out on her customers!!!
After having experienced being a customer and a employee I would strongly suggest saving your money and booking else where!!!

Back in January this year, I brought tickets to see madness at Windsor race course. Immediately after buying tickets I researched I found the Union Inn. It was a great location and a very good price for 2 rooms. This was ideal as we travelling from Bristol to Windsor.
2 days prior to the event I received a phone call from the Union Inn apologising that due to ongoing building work that was uncompleted, they had no option but to cancel my booking.
I was promised a full refund, that would be issued asap.

I was due to fly from Heathrow the following morning, so had no other choice but to look for alternative accommodation for the night. And due to the Concert taking place, availability was scarce and prices extortionate.

Nether the less, I was able to find somewhere closer to Heathrow , but due to having now depend on taxis and price increases double the price.

Having said all that, the cancellation isn’t my reason for a bad review. It has now been 3 weeks and I’ve yet to receive my refund. I’ve constantly sent messages to the establishment enquiring to whereabouts of my refund, but these are being ignored.

When I contacted the booking agent, they informed me that the Union Inn had confirmed my stay and that I had departed on given day.

I’m now having to go through the hassle of submitting a claim with my credit card issuer to retrieve my payment.

Extremely bad treatment under the circumstances.

Having booked this family room months in advance for an annual occasion we traveled 3 hours to be with friends and family.
An hour after we arrived and ironically on our way to book in we get a phone call from Dom, who proceeds to tell us, in very fowl language whilst we have a small child and an elderly relative in the car, that he has NO room for us, no real excuse, leaving us with nowhere to stay.
Quite frankly disgraceful, there are ways of telling people you are about to let them down, why he couldn’t have informed us the day before at least, I don’t know.
Rude, disrespectful and unreliable

The buyagift website I booked this ‘hotel’ via describes it as having ‘stylish interiors and elegant decor’ Nothing could be further from the truth!
We were shocked by the complete lack of any style or design in our room. Going upstairs the carpets are threadbare and filthy. The state of the carpets continues in the bedroom where we were reluctant to take off our shoes.
No bedside lamps, no headboard, no Wi-Fi code apparent in the room. Had to go and ask for a code and the Wi-Fi was patchy at all times with one bar.
My husband wanted to leave straight away but I convinced home to stay as we had an event locally the next day. It turned out to be the worst nights sleep ever. A worn out mattress with springs poking into us. Warped ill fitting Venetian blinds letting early morning light in. The music downstairs went on around 7am. We didn’t want to use the shower as the shower head looked like a water contamination issue! The radiator leaked and made a huge puddle on the floor. No coat hooks on the doors, just some mismatched plastic hangars on a rail. So unkempt and uncared for when it’s location and size could make it a stunning pub with rooms.
I presume it was the landlord who didn’t have a smile or a greeting, just a scowl.
The landlady however was very pleasant and the food decent pub grub.
We didn’t stay the second night.

If you’ve yet to try The Union for Sunday lunch get yourselves there for a fabulous, yummy Sunday Roast dinner. Absolutely delicious & plentiful home cooked roast just like mother used to make. If you like your deserts best not have a starter because I’m sure you won’t be able to fit in your pudding after enjoying your roast. With choice of Chicken, Beef, Pork or salmon you will not be disappointed.

Firstly this pub is just awful. The staff haven’t a clue what they’re doing and are very rude. The food and drink quality is even worse. The old lady who runs the place is extremely rude to the guests. My family stayed for the night, having booked 3 months in advance. Just to find out when we got there they had taken 2 of the rooms off the order, and didn’t even serve breakfast which was meant to be included. I would very much not advice this place. Also no where near any sights so if you think your round the corner from windsor castle you’re really not.

I made a booking on 15th April for 2 rooms on 23rd April 2022. On the morning of the 21st April I received a call from the hotel to say they had to cancel my booking as they had water issues and would not be able to accommodate us. They said Expedia would rearrange another hotel! I called on the mobile number they gave and the landline number - no luck! I tried all morning. I finally got through to them at 2.23pm, twenty three minutes after they had taken my £168. They said they were sorry and that they would arrange with Expedia to get my refund. Well several weeks later I still have no refund. the hotel do not answer calls and the voicemail box is full. Expedia have requested the hotel to authorise the refund! I'm waiting in hope but not very hopeful. I will probably have to get a refund from the credit card company unless Expedia step it up. This is totally unacceptable and this hotel should be checked by various sites it is listed on. Travellers should be protected.
