My wife and I returned to Tranquility for a second stay (see my previous 2018 review) for 10 days in May. Pauline and Phil were again very welcoming and made our stay just as enjoyable as before. The Summer Room was clean, comfortable and has a lovely view across Loch Ewe to the mountains. As before, the breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal were extremely good. Thank you Pauline and Phil!
We were looking for a quiet place with excellent food and service with wonderful views and we found all of these at Tranquility. We could relax with a cup of tea (with fresh milk) and biscuits and admire the wonderful views of Torridon. Our hosts were very knowledgeable about the local area and walks. We really appreciated the option of having an evening meal at the B&B as well as breakfast, especially after being out all day .
This was a very good b&b in a most beautiful location. Phil and Pauline were so nice and genuinely friendly. What's remarkable, is the variety of food being offered as an evening meal and the quality of it is excellent. Top marks!
My wife and I spent 10 nights at Tranquility Bed & Breakfast in the double/family room which has a spectacular view across Loch Ewe to the mountains beyond. Pauline and Phil are very friendly hosts and seem to have carefully thought through every detail to make your stay comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable. The room was very clean and serviced daily. The bed was especially comfortable! The breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal are extremely good value; home-cooked produce that is very tasty and well presented. The fish meals are highly recommended, as are the ginger cake and fruit cake in the packed lunch, and the breakfasts are superb. The location is very peaceful and surrounded by amazing views, with many beautiful walks of varying lengths by just stepping out of the door or driving further afield. The lovely Mellon Charles beach is a 5 minute walk and a wonderful spot for wildlife watching, as are the lochans above Mellon Charles only a 30minute walk away. In short, this B&B is a good choice for an extremely relaxing break.…
This was our second overnight stay whilst touring NW Scotland as part of the North Coast 500. The location is amazing, there is a small beach within 400m of the B&B, as well as awesome views of the Torridon mountains. Aultbea is a scattered hamlet like most villages in the north, about 40miles from Ullapool and an ideal place to stay if you want to visit the gardens at Inverewe. On our arrival we were welcomed by Pauline and Phil and given a guided tour. The bedroom was spacious, clean and offered stunning views. As well as the usual condiments on offer, there were homemade cakes. Breakfast was fantastic with numerous home made jams and yoghurt also available. When we were leaving and chatting to Pauline & Phil we noticed a large seagull on the kitchen window ledge - they have called him Sidney and he has been visiting them for over 20 years. The one drawback about Sidney is either he or one of his pals left a deposit on my car window! To sum up, fabulous place, hosts and location, fully recommend.…
