Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very disappointed Sunday carvery. The Mushroom Welling was more like a Chinese spring roll.....normally the Mushroom Wellington is wonderful and full of mushrooms and cranberries with a delicious crusty pastry. But last Sunday was dire. I couldn't eat it. It was full of bits of veg and no mushrooms and the pastry was horrid. It had a spicy taste. Also I wasn't given vegi gravy. My partner and I agreed the gravy was awful, it was so thick and tasteless. But service was great, the staff are brilliant. Shame about the food, can't understand what's happened there.

Family visit for Sunday lunch. Really warm welcome. Friendly & efficient waiter took our drinks order. Had the carvery, which was lovely. Nice touch offering a baby bowl (£3) of carvery items as the little one doesn’t eat much. Loads of meat, just all really tasty. Definitely one of the best carveries around, will definitely me making a return visit.

Positives. Room was well fitted out and comfortable but a bottle of water would have been nice . Spacious restaurant and bar but arriving on Sunday, disappointed to hear they had no evening meal option, . not only that they didn’t really know for sure which restaurants would be open and where. All rather odd. A tip for the owners ; have something printed and ready with a list of restaurants, open on Sunday, evenings, phone, numbers and type of cuisine. Disappointing breakfast. Was expecting something special from wales but tasteless frankfurter style sausage over cooked bacon, and frankly, very unappetising. With a bit of sharpening up, it would be worth full stars

Where do I start. I used to visit the ashburnham hotel every week for Sunday lunch I even had my wedding here. Ever since the new owners have arrived the place has been slowly going down hill I originally stopped Going here due to the new owners attitude of how he spoke to me and my wife. After a conversation with me and why wife we decided go back for Sunday lunch, and the service was exactly The same the owner needs to have better people skills , very patronising definitely will not be returning from a local resident

Disaster. Scampi, Salad & Chips. Chips over cooked not edible, Salad well past sell by date and still served. Chicken in Mushroom sauce with mashed potato. Barely warm. Fish & Chips. Batter soggy. Half hour wait for order to be taken and drinks to arrive. 1 hour 10 mins for food to arrive, definitely not worth the wait.

The hotel itself is three star bordering on two star taking into account what we paid for the accommodation. The hotel's location was pretty good for access to nearby beaches and points of interest. The hotel had a very "tired" feel to it overall. Our room was labelled as an "executive double room" ! The bed was a king size firm, well worn, mattress which was slightly undersized in length so hung over the rear of the two single joined divans). The bathroom was the most odd, a good size with newish appliances but was just wrong! The toilet was situated in front of a low window with just a form of frosted glass to conceal occupancy, quite visible from the outside albeit from the carpark over a flat roof. Probably the biggest surprise was a victorian style bath in the middle of the room which had a shower head attachment. There was no shower curtain so to use the shower head standing up the water would just go everywhere. A walk-in shower replacement would have been a huge improvement although the bath itself did look nice, and we noticed it leaked underneath after use each time! In the room there were many corners and wall paper edges etc that need some work and the carpet did come across as "dusty" and possibly infrequently cleaned. The skylight area above the stairs down to reception was pretty disgusting with flaking paintwork and a rusty veneer all round (photo). On the plus side the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast eating area comfortable and accommodating. The breakfast, although limited in selection, was good (liked the thick meaty slices of bacon). So, in summary "you gets what you pay for" as the saying goes. We hope this helps with any decision making regarding a stay there. The pictures attached may give some idea of the above.

What a disaster this visit was! First there was no draught beers available. Then we sat down to order our meals but were told there was no gammon on the menu, there was only one fish left and they had run out of chips! Now can a restaurant run out of chips!!! Somehow scampi and mash potatoes didn't have the same appeal! This hotel has recently been taken over and is rapidly sliding downhill! I recommend everyone stays clear of this place.

Thank you, Greg and Nickesha and all your staff for making our recent weekend reunion with old friends so pleasant and enjoyable. We received a great welcome from friendly and efficient staff, a clean and comfortable room and good food. (I particularly liked the local specialities which I chose from the menu). Neither my husband nor I had visited the area before and we enjoyed lovely walks out across the golf course to the sea (recommended to us by a helpful local member of staff) with beautiful views across to the Gower peninsula, an exploration of the tree-lined local canal, and visits to the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Kidwelly Castle. We had decided to arrive two days early for the planned weekend and it was a good decision as it gave us more time to explore the local area and enjoy the excellent food. We hope to return one day and in the meantime wish you every success in the future.
