I stayed here with my wife for a quick weekend trip to Cambridge and the location was great for this, being only a 20 minute or so drive into town. The location of the hotel is slightly off map so requires a sharp turn into what looks like a dead end, but sure enough the signs do lead you to the quite charming hotel. It's set on a large part of land with a little stream flowing so was nice to walk around the grounds.

We were greeted at reception by a young lady who to be honest didn't seem at all bothered to be there, and hence the 4 star rating rather than 5. We arrived at 1pm as had less traffic then expected so asked if the room was available perhaps slightly earlier to check in, to which she simply laughed and said no chance as guests likely would have checked out just recently... however for a fee we could check in. In the past a polite refusal but offer to keep any bags in reception is the usual response so was a bit surprised by her reaction. We therefore decided to get straight back on the road into town to enjoy our lunch there and come back later in the evening to check in. This was a much more pleasant experience where the gentleman behind the counter this time was much more polite and decided to give us a complementary upgrade so was certainly a nice surprise.

We stayed in room 404 which is in one of the outbuildings rather than the main building and had no issues here. The room was quite spacious and being on the upper floor had a fantastic high ceiling. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom facilities great.

The breakfast the next day was great, where you select a dish from a menu (of course went for the full english) and can help yourself to breads / pastries / cereals also. The only complaint here is that 1 rasher of bacon is not enough!

We also used the pool facilities also before checking out and these were fine too, nothing amazing but nothing to turn your nose up at either.

Overall a great stay for a short weekend in Cambridge that did feel more country than being in the main city. I would certainly go back again as it was a great price, but would definitely class it as a no-frills type of hotel... although thanks again for the room upgrade as that certainly made a difference!

We stayed for 4 nights from 5th September, hotel set in lovely grounds away from motorway, checked in fine our room was in the courtyard lovely large room but so very hot, had windows wide open(eventually after realising there was a safely catch) also fan, really needs AC. Bathroom had shower over jacuzzi bath, needs anti slip mat for using shower, had cobwebs over bath in the beams, told reception first day nothing done, the told Jason who said it would have a deep clean and another fan put in room, on return from day out cobwebs still there and cleaner put fan we already had on table! Booked what we thought was the Waterwheel restaurant on Sunday night but we were all put in the breakfast room on small tables, afew couples waited over an hour for food and walked out, we should have been informed that there was a wedding going on, and the Waterwheel was not open so that we could have rearranged for another night, your staying guest are just as important.
The breakfast was the best, the young staff were run ragged as well as the senior staff, really needs more staff, hotel needs abit of TLC paintwork and Windows need attention, stained carpet in foyer. Paul and Jason did their best to keep people happy couldn't fault them. Hotel very close to park and ride for Cambridge and so cheap, also very close to other great places to visit. Get all the bad things put right and it would be a lovely place to stay !

Hotel in nice location, near to park and ride which is a great alternative to parking in the city.

The hotel is looking tired, outdoor areas need a good clean and tidy up. The inside decor is dated and the carpets are stained. The common areas need a good clean. The bedrooms are looking tired but the bed was comfy and the air conditioning was welcome given the recent heat. We didn’t use the pool or spa area.

Most of the staff are young, but are polite and do their best but a little bit of training is needed. Like using the handles of cutlery when laying a table and not the blades or the bowl of the spoons. No one wants to eat with cutlery that’s been touched even if hands are washed frequently. Also to collect dirty glasses and china left on tables and not just walk past. Having said that I understand how difficult things must have been recently with supplies and getting trained staff. The older staff are friendly and efficient especially the young fair South African girl that served us in the restaurant on Tuesday evening, sorry I didn’t get your name.

We ate in the hotel and the food was really nice but I can imagine if you stayed more that 3 or 4 nights the menu would get boring especially if your a vegetarian.

It’s expensive for what you get, but if things improve and some updating is carried out then I would recommend.

Booked a 2 night stay for March 2020, rebooked in August 2021 and only stayed 1 night. I usually love a breakfast, but just in the morning without having any.
We found the room to be dark and dingy basically cooperate with a view of a fence outside, very basic toiletries, and no face cloths, a box of tissues with 4 tissues in. There was an overhead fan in the room that was like standing in a wind tunnel when on, and when we finally found the switch to turn it off the room became very hot overnight.
The hotel was very busy, with a wedding and an event outside, we were unable to use the garden which looked quite nice, but that was filled with a wedding party.
The swimming pool however was very nice warm and clean, I was a little concerned about the cleanliness of the constantly used steam room and sauna, with no evidence of how to clean between users.
The Waterwheel restaurant looked quite and tasteful inside, we booked a table for the restaurant at 7.30pm didn’t get any food until 8.20pm, by which time we were past our hunger and it was too late.
Such a disappointing experience, we were really looking forward to the weekend.

We’ve just had the most amazing time at Quy Mill Hotel & Spa where we spent the night and the following day celebrating our anniversary.
On arrival we were checked in earlier than expected as our room was ready and everywhere adhered to the Covid restrictions, we felt totally safe and the staff were all so friendly and accommodating.
Our room was a delight, with a 4 poster bed, laid out with red petals in the shape of a heart (what a sweet touch) and the large bathroom with jacuzzi was a special treat.
Our evening meal was tasty, the chef certainly is great with flavour.
Sunday morning was greeted with a fantastic breakfast in bed (full English with all the trimmings) and we took advantage of the Snoozy Sunday offer as a bit of an extra lie in. It gave us the room until 5pm and lunch was included.
We didn’t need the extra time as we booked in for a swim and steam followed by a wonderful 60 minute massage.
All in all we’ve had a fabulous time and are now heading home, fully relaxed and rejuvenated. Thank you for making us feel so looked after. We will certainly return again.

I'd took my girlfriend to Champneys Henlow for a surprise birthday weekend, however we left after the 1st night due to a number of disappointments including no massages available (at a spa hotel).

On the Saturday I rang a number of hotels including Quy Mill, explained the situation to Bernice and within an hour set off to the hotel.

Bernice had put us in a big suite with four poster bed and a hot tub bath. She'd also left a bottle of prossecco on ice with some rose petals scattered about.
On seeing the room my previously disappointed girlfriend was happy again and her birthday treat was back in play.

The hotel had a deal on where we had the room, dinner and breakfast and massage all included for a reasonable price.

Food was good, service (Charles and Bernice) were on point, the massages were great and much needed.

We had a much better experience here and wish we'd come here for two nights rather than the dire experience at the other hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights. We booked through Secret Escapes, which means you get an inferior service we were told. I will be writing to them as well asking why this is the case.
Bartender was initially friendly and then rather offhand and brusque when we didn't book a table in the restaurant he managed, which we found pricey.
The older service staff lady was officious in saying no when we asked to sit at a larger table for breakfast.
The front office staff member fobbed us off when he told us the spa would provide slippers and bathrobe to our deluxe room when we queried where they were. Apparently this was because we booked through secret escapes. The spa doesn't provide these either so we never got them.
The room was dusty, the light on one side of the bed didn't work, the basin and shower tiles clearly haven’t had a good clean in a long time. Housekeeping wanted access at 9am but we were not ready yet so said no expecting them later. The room was not made up or cleaned again later.
The windows are not double glazed so traffic noise is very audible.
Overall, apart from the breakfast itself, which was generous and tasty, we were disappointed with our “deluxe” experience.

I booked the Sunday spa package with overnight stay (directly with the hotel) for my girlfriend's birthday. It was a significant milestone birthday, so I pushed the boat out and upgraded to one of the four poster rooms. We weren't disappointed!

The room was in what looks to be the old house, which is part of the original building, with a view overlooking the main garden. It was a vary large room decorated with old world charm. I have no idea which era though! It had the large four poster bed, what appears to be the original fireplace and in the bathroom, there is a spa bath. The staff had scattered tissue paper flower petals over the bed and around the bath, which was a nice touch.

The spa was good. Pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all acceptable. The spa treatment area is very nicely done out and it feels tranquil and relaxed the moment you walk in there. We tried the "serail mud room" which is "different" but a lot of fun for a couple or two friends. I won't add any spoilers by describing it!

All the hotel staff were lovely and very attentive. We had dinner in the hotel lounge. The food was good quality and cooked just right. My girlfriend doesn't eat gluten or dairy and the staff were very good about checking the menu with the kitchen and advising what they could adapt.

Breakfast is served in a separate dining room, once again in the old part of the hotel. It looked like it had been fairly recently done out, but still retained a look of times gone by, with nice light and airy colours.

Once again, the staff serving breakfast were lovely and were good about accommodating my girlfriend's dietary requirements. The full English breakfast was delicious. Good quality food well cooked.

We would happily stay here again.

We booked via Secret Escapes for a 3 night break. We stayed in a great room in the courtyard opposite the main house. The hotel is right by the A14, outside the traffic noise is ever present, but inside you are not aware of it. Our room was clean, comfortable and modern, with nice king size bed and bath. Tea/coffee making facilities, they were a bit mean with the quantities (we had to ask for extra coffee and sugars) and I could have done with a choice of teas. I did not like that both the front door and the fire scape door were often wide open, making the corridor very cold and reducing safety . We were very surprised to be told that it would cost us £10 each for a bathrobe, this is a spa hotel, surely that should be part of the service??? I had emailed the spa 10 days before our stay to book a treatment, but never heard back, I ended up not using their services at all, as they were all booked up on arrival.
We used the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi twice a day, they are all quite small for the amount of people using them. The sauna never got past 70 degrees, impossible to work up a sweat, but the other facilities were clean and working. We had to go outside to get to the Spa, no indoor walkway.
We had 1 evening meal at the hotel, that was good quality and tasty, with drinks and gratuity it cost us £70 for two. For the other 2 evenings we went to the White Swan pub in the village.
Breakfast was definitely very good, with fruit salad, cereals, nice bread, pastries, fresh tea and coffee, and piping hot, freshly cooked full English. We had 3 breakfasts and 3 times we had to ask again for our tea and coffee, it just was not brought to our table after the 1st time of ordering.
It is a dog friendly hotel, our dog enjoyed running around on the grassy areas, and the dog treats in the entrance of the hotel, but I could not find a bin to drop the poo bags in.
Staff all very friendly.
Hotel does not provide newspapers.

Stayed for two nights in room 2,deluxe King Double Room on a bed and breakfast basis.Breakfasts were really good, very good full English plus toast coffee etcDined on Friday in the restaurant, food was exceptional. On Saturday we dined in the Celtic Bar and had a delicious bar meal.
Staff were always pleasant, friendly and helpful.Special mention should go to the operations Manager,Charles who did everything he could to solve a problem with the heating in our room. Also, the young lady with the blonde hair on reception, always smiling, very patient and friendly
The weather was atrocious but in better weather it would be fantastic to sit in the beautiful gardens. It is situated in a rural sitting,a £16 taxi ride into the Old part of Cambridge well worth it because parking is virtually impossible
Great attention to detail has been paid to making this hotel as Covid safe as possible, hand sanitizer everywhere and tables really well spaced out.

I would recommend Quys Mill Hotel and Spa for a relaxing getaway in beautiful surroundings
