I do not often leave reviews, only if I feel the need too, if really bad or very good.
For me this place is very good! All the staff here are polite & friendly. I would say they go the extra mile & do actually enjoy their job! For this makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.
Not everything was perfect but where is. We stayed in the Superior room with the spa bath for 3 nights.
The bathrooms do not have a shaver/toothbrush ports in any of their rooms which was the first time I had come across this. We went & bought an adaptor 🔌 when out shopping.
I did find the pillows rather flat & thin, rang reception & they managed to find me one. It wasn't the greatest but did the job. The only reason why I mention is due to having few neck issues I need the comfort & assumed being in this room they would have good pillows.
We had an issue with the short flush button on the toilet as it got stuck & water constantly running to which reception managed to temporarily fix & offered to change our room. We didn't feel the need to change, just used the long flush button until we would check out.
I did notice that we were left an opened bottle of sparkling water to which reception sorted ASAP.
Our first evening meal, my beef burger was luke warm on arrival, once advised they sorted it asap & couldn't apologise enough to which we were given two free desserts. I thought this was a really good gesture of them & it was really appreciated.
My point is the staff here are really accommodating if there was any problems or issues, nothing was too much trouble. They appreciated the feed back & it helps them to make a better experience for us visiting.
The food was amazing, I love taking food pics as you can see.
Just a shame the leisure facilities were closed. We did book two treatments initially, which were lovely & booked another two for the day we were leaving, can recommend the facials, very relaxing!!
Thank you to all the staff at Bowfield Hotel, keep up all the fantastic work you do 😊 hopefully be back soon 👍🏻😁

We visited this hotel for late lunch.
In this day and age to find people who know how to deliver customer service is rare. One of our friends suffers from cancer not that Nicky who served us knew that only that she had a stick. A very kind gentleman who worked there showed her where the rest room was and Nicky actually waited for her and walked her back to the table. This sort of consideration is rarely shown these days, and we were very greatful for this. Nicky is a credit to the hotel. Thank you.

Still on a high after our wedding at The Bowfield!

Despite constant changes to restrictions in the lead up to our big day, we were kept well informed by the Events Team. Kirsty and Elisha were always on hand to answer any of our questions or concerns - we can't thank you both enough!

After arriving at the hotel to get ready, the management team went out of their way to make sure the bridal party were comfortable, organising sandwich platters at no additional cost and leaving fizz in the room for us to enjoy after our wedding meal. Thank you for your generosity Eddie.

All of our guests commented on how attentive every member of staff was on the day - so friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Everyone who stayed overnight thought their rooms were comfortable and spotless and as the wedding couple, we very much enjoyed the luxury of the Semple Suite on our wedding night! There was a great choice of breakfast the next day, from continental to a full cooked breakfast.

We could not have asked for a better experience from start to finish and would happily recommend The Bowfield to anyone planning a wedding or just a relaxing break away.
Can't wait to visit again and try out the spa and hydrotherapy pool!

We visited the hotel for a family wedding this weekend, the actual day of the wedding was beautiful! Everyone was very accommodating and helpful! The hotel itself was beautiful! Rooms are really good and generally I wouldn't have faulted it at all however.. The night before the wedding we booked in the restaurant for a meal, some of our party had brought food with them as they didn't have a huge budget! So it was just going to be my brother, his partner, my husband and myself that planned on dining! Upon booking our table we were asked if we had the dinner, bed and breakfast package I had said I wasn't sure my mum had booked the rooms and I just gave her the money, she said she would check our booking and let us know when we came back for our meal. We came back to the restaurant for our meal and we asked if our booking had included dinner we were told yes and then were given a more basic menu. Although I had seen some things on the full menu I was really excited about we chose meals from the basic menu as we had been told that it was included in our booking, and why would you choose to pay for something when you were told that if you ordered from a certain menu it was included!! When ordering with the waitress I even made a joke about if it was included both night because if we'd paid for it then we would book a table after the wedding meal and have 2 meals as who says no to free food, the server smiled said she would check but never came back to clarify anything! The food came it was nice.. The starters were nicer than the mains or at least mine, but during our meal my mum came back in to tell us that the meal was not included and the restaurant manager had told them the additional cost would be added onto their room bill (baring in mind it had been the restaurant manager that had enticed them into the restaurant by saying it was included in their booking). The manager came over to our table and finally clarified that we would in fact be charged for the meal but waived the two extra drinks between four of us and the additional courses (we had extra starters).
I appreciate that the restaurant needs to take money and that we ate, so we should be expected to pay. However we were told multiple times the meal was INCLUDED in our booking.. (the word included is completely wrong in this context) Not once until after we ate were we told that there was a £15 charge for this meal option.. If we were we would have just asked for the full menu!! I'm irritated that the communication was so poor and that this error was made for multiple people in our family, simply because someone had put a hyphen in the wrong place on booking us in.. The fact that some of my family were not even planning on eating in the restaurant until the Manager used the word INCLUDED and then charged them is upsetting as they are normally more limited with their spending!
Also we were told that even with the dinner, bed and breakfast package there would always be a £15 charge for that menu.. Yet the servers were 100% aware we weren't aware we had made a booking that had included a dinner package so why would they not explain what that booking meant, the charge and also give us the option for the full menu! It was just really irritating.. Poorly communicated! Really disappointed with the way the situation was handled!

I visited The Bowfield with my husband and 11 week old son. Everything from start to finish was great. The staff couldn’t have done enough for us. We had a family room which was huge, it would be a great size for a family with 2-3 children, big enough to get his crib set up next to our bed along with his buggy and all his things we still had loads of room. The breakfast was nice, friday morning there was a menu and my husband had the pancakes and I had the full scottish, both were lovely, saturday morning was a buffet style and again everything was great. We also had dinner in the hotel one night, the food was great and the service was second to none, we had a lovely man serve us named Bill, it was because of him I wanted to leave a review because he deserved the recognition, he was so helpful and kind to us, and with this being our first trip with an infant who wouldn’t settle very well, he made us feel confortable. We took our son swimming here for his first swim, the changing area was great, it was a family change so we could both get him organised instead of one of us having to take him into the male or female change. When you leave the family changing area there is a big fence and gate, which is a great idea for bigger kids so they can’t get to the pool if they manage to get out of the changing area because there is no lifeguard. We didn’t use the spa because it was fully booked so if you want to have a treatment I would say book in advance!

We arrived at the hotel and staff were friendly, we were to early to check in so we went and sat in the bar, when we arrived in bar we got our first round of drinks quick, second round of drinks took 45 Min, there was a wedding on and as soon as that started there was no staff behind the bar,
Later that day we asked for peroni beer on tap to be told they had none left, asked for a Rosie wine on the menu to be told they had none. Dinner was great food was amazing, to our surprise though we ended up with a dinner bill, when queried we were told we were only allowed £15 per head for dinner this was not including drinks, this was never told to us when we booked.
Later that night we ordered passion fruit martini, when brought out we asked why they had no passion fruit in them and we were told they had ran out so they got sent back. Rooms were basic, carpets were needing a clean and also stains on the lamp shade and bathroom tiles were needing an upgrade. For the price we payed I would have expected better.

Had an overnight stay with my boyfriend and daughter. We had a standard room with a small cot, but had to bring our own cot bedding which wasn’t an issue. The room was nice and had plenty of space for the 3 of us. Clean at a glance but very dusty upon closer inspection. As we were changing nappies I thought it would be helpful and tie up the bin liners for the housekeepers however they were so thin and cheap they just broke apart when I tried to tie them. The bed was quite uncomfortable and she sheets were so noisy like paper, every time me or my bf moved during the night we were waking each other up. Softer sheets would have been a nice touch. Also wanted to point out that the windows opened wide, why is a hazard when you have a 2 year old in the room, I’ve always thought hotel windows had safely latches.
We opted for breakfast and dinner which was ok, although the service was pretty bad. At dinner we waited a while to be asked for drink and our order even though the restaurant was very quiet (only 3 other tables having meals). After the meal it took a long time for anyone to collect our plates and when they did, they did so in silence. Didn’t ask if we wanted dessert, coffee, the bill or if everything was ok with our meals. The service at breakfast was very much the same, and our meals were cold.
The faculties are great for children with the soft play area(again wasn’t very clean) but the room it’s in is very cold, so be sure you wrap up when you go in. They had a lovely pool area too which we enjoyed when we arrived and hoped to again the following afternoon. I had just received a massage and was told to enjoy the facilities, so I went and got my daughter and I changed into our swimming things(she was very excited), As we entered the pool are and actually got into the pool we were told to exit by a member of staff who said due to a disturbance from other children and apparently hotel policy(no clear signage saying this) that no children were allowed in the pool area between 12pm-2pm as the leisure members don’t like this. We were taken a back and embarrassed by this, and my daughter became very upset as she didn’t understand why we couldn’t go in. We were paying guests at the hotel so couldn’t understand why were made to feel belittled. We logged a complaint but have yet to hear anything back from the hotel.

The place, facilities and the peacefulness of the place are amazing and pictures speak for themselves! :) The rooms are beautiful and very welcoming. People are really nice and the atmosphere is relaxed.
I was there for a workshop, we spent there 2 nights and three days. My only concern is that the staff does not seem to know what "vegan" means. They took good care of people who were on a gluten-free diet, which I appreciated. Sometimes during our coffee breaks they added the soya milk, which I appreciated. The point is that I am not picky when I travel and I try to adapt to any situation. However, for the price paid and for the place being a 4 star hotel I would have expected something different, for example soup served with no butter and something more vegan friendly. There were cheese, fish, and meat everywhere, no much room for vegan options (which to my perspective was confused with "vegetarian"). And for peace of mind, there was a bowl of hummus added to the table, so the vegan was covered. The first night I ordered a chickpea salad and guess what - no chickpeas. That was so sad and disappointing for the money paid. If you are vegan, tell them well in advance. I am just saying this for other people who might not be as flexi as I am.

After contacting reception to find out availability I was advised on the offers available and I booked a dinner bed breakfast spa a and afternoon tea package to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and it couldn’t have been a better choice. We arrived early and our room was ready so we was able to check in straight away.

We had a quick lunch in the restaurant before heading to the Aura spa. It was a lovely surprise to see just how nice it is there. An outdoor hydrotherapy pool looking out to beautiful scenery was instantly relaxing and that’s how the whole stay remained. We both had an amazing espa aromatherapy massage with Laura and Sophie (brilliant therapists)!and we both felt amazing just resting in the the relaxation rooms afterwards.

The dinner in the restaurant in the evening was really delicious a good choice of menu and we both was very happy with our food choice. A nice choice of wines and cocktails too. It was quite busy but the staff were efficient and we was served very quickly with our drinks and our food order was also taken as soon as we was ready.

Our double room was spacious and the bed was huge and very comfortable. Our bathroom had a shower over a jacuzzi bath and big fluffy towels everything was very very clean.
We had collected a robe and slippers from Aura spa on our arrival and the size of the robe was very generous which we’ve often found not to be the case in a lot of other hotels.

We used the wonderful pool jacuzzi steam and sauna before breakfast the next morning (there had been some private swimming lessons in the pool in the afternoon when we arrived although it wasn’t super busy) but felt it was to busy for us then.

Breakfast was lovely again another good choice for selection (would have liked to see some Smoked salmon on the menu though)
the bread served with my choice of avocado smash was ciabatta which was a bit too filling (would have liked a sourdough choice with it) just my preference not a criticism. Juiced cereal fresh fruit yoghurt pastries all available to help yourself to before your hot food order.

We was advised we could continue to use the facilities should we want to after check out we had an afternoon tea booked for later that day we went to visit some locations as we’d planned already but felt this was a really good option and will certainly do that on our return to Bowfield hotel.

We had afternoon tea which also came with a glass of Prosecco. A nice selection of sandwiches a sausage roll cakes and scones all freshly made. Very enjoyable. Thank you also to Rosie and Diane who made our restaurant experience really personal.

We stayed one night B&B in what is the honeymoon suite. We checked in and the receptionist was very nice and helpful showing us how to get to our room, and giving directions to the bar and where to eat. At first glance the room looked so posh and delightful in cream tones. We walked in the door and there were lovely cakes waiting for us, yummy. Throughout the stay we noticed little things with the room, the carpet and furniture was stained. There is a huge bathroom behind the bed which can be entered from either side. On one side you enter through a curtain to the toilet and wash hand basin then through a glass door to the wet room and free standing bath. This design flaw maybe a bit of a romance killer, to be enjoying a nice bath and seeing your partner sitting on the loo? The bath was lovely and big and the water hot, but nowhere to put a drink or even soap? Speaking of soap the only soap in the bathroom was in a bottle attached to the wall at the shower, no access to it from the bath. In the honeymoon Suite you would expect to be pampered a bit, maybe bubble bath or at least a bit of soap? The plumbing to the bath was not attached to the wall or the bath and wobbly to say the least. The food was very good, we both had a full cooked breakfast and the fruit was delicious. The service at breakfast was slightly haphazard but on the whole acceptable.
