Detailed Reviews
Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights in September 2020 and had the most amazing time. We stayed in a studio pod, when we arrived the pod was absolutely spotless and had complimentary snacks and bottles of water on the table (lovely touch). Everything you need in the kitchen, the microwave is a grill, you have hobs and a toasted and kettle - obviously take your own food I would recommend taking your own salt/pepper! The only thing I would say is that cleaning products and cloths would have been great as it was hard to tidy up with only the antibacterial wipes we brought. The hot tub was lush I actually broke my arm before we came away but the seating within it meant I was able to keep my arm out without being uncomfortable. The area is small but lovely, a few pubs a 10 minute walk away, chippy, little shops.. Newtown is about 20/30 minutes away in the car which has a lot more and Welshpool a little further. We will 100% be back, we were literally looking at the booking site on our drive home!
The only things I will say is
Take your own toilet roll (you do get told this)
More pillows on the bed would be great!!
The sofa / sofa bed is so uncomfortable to sit on as you just fall back into the springs. I think cushions would solve this as we used the pillows from our bed!
Don’t forget to take BIN LINERS as you only get one!
All in all thank you so much for the loveliest stay and we can’t wait to come back! And also the amount you pay for 4 nights and what you receive is just unbelievable, great value for money.

Hi Thank you for this lovely review, We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you are looking to return to us again. We stayed in one of the studio pods! Our first holiday during the pandemic, the team at the Maesmawr Farm Resort have done an amazing job making the accommodation covid-secure, from the pre arrival information and the standard of house keeping. You do need to be mindful of the check in and out times. Perfectly understandable to achieve the standards.
As it was our first wedding anniversary, we wanted something special. The pod was perfect, plenty of space and a private hot tub! They even left us a lovely wedding anniversary card as part of a great little welcome hamper (little gestures like that are brilliant customer service)
We choose to visit the local supermarket and buy in food to cook, rather than eating out (our preference). The pods kitchenette had a hob, combi microwave/ grill / oven and a well stocked selection of utensils. Newtown is a 15 min drive which has a couple of supermarkets and a good little high street, you’ll find all you need. The welcome information also gives some places to eat and shop for essentials. (I’ve uploaded a couple of food pictures)
The resort itself is less than 5 years old, very tidy and mostly modern accommodation, it’s quite small, and is dog friendly (our little frug loved the dog walking field) our pod had a gate so he was safe to trot around the decking keeping a watchful eye.
To sum up perfect hideaway for a couple on a long weekend to get away.

My partner and I stayed in the Chaffinch lodge (No. 20) the first week of February for the first time and we absolutely loved every second of it!
The lodge itself is spacious, very clean and has a homely feel to it.
I read some reviews where people have said they were shocked to find there was no kitchen roll, washing up liquid, only 2 toilet rolls etc but what do you expect? This is a self catering lodge and we brought all of those things ourselves...I just thought that was obvious! I was actually pleasantly surprised that there were 3 dishwasher tablets, some toilet roll & a tea towel supplied for us.
The hot tub was amazing, very clean and was checked twice a day as stated.
Staff in reception were friendly on check in and check out.
There isn’t a lot to do in this area but if you’re willing to travel in the car you can find some nice things to do about 30 minute drive away such as Powys Castle.
Also, a 10 minute drive down the road brings you into Newtown where you have Tesco, Lidl, KFC, McDonald’s, Chinese take aways, kebab shops etc all a stones throw away from each other. You won’t starve.
The complimentary hamper in the lodge was a lovely touch and such a good idea.
I have stayed at other lodges/log cabins a few times and I thought nothing would beat theirs but this certainly did.
My only negative comment would have to be that the showers weren’t hot but instead luke warm but I guess there isn’t a lot that can be done about this, it’s one of those things :)
We are returning in November 2020 with another couple but have booked the Peregrine to give the bigger lodge a try - we are looking forward to our return!! :D

I have recently come back from a weekend away at Maesmawr Farm and I have a mixed review.
I rented the Peregrine lodge, which is there most premium lodge available. The actual lodge was amazing, very well decorated, the furniture was lovely as were the bedrooms. I can not fault the actual lodge at all.
However, I did feel let down by a few smaller details. I paid just over £400 for the weekend (4 adults and a dog) and I feel like it lacked the minor details. No complimentary hair wash or shower gel and was only given 1 bar of soap. Dishwasher tablets were provided, 3 to be exact and if you wanted more then they charged 35p per tablet. I just felt like this was a bit petty, especially when they do not have any restaurants or shops on site to buy some yourself. Only 2 toilet rolls and again if you wanted more you had to pay a small charge.
In the kitchen, you did not get any washing up liquid, kitchen roll and only one small tea towel. It was very hard to keep it clean, when you are cooking 3 meals a day with no cleaning products or kitchen roll to even wipe down the surfaces. You did get a sponge but again no product to use with the sponge.... This was especially frustrating when there was only 4 plates, cups and bowls in the cupboard, however there was plenty different sizes wine/champagne glasses.
The hot tub was very nice and actually very clean. The maintenance team came around 2 times a day to check it and top up the chemicals/water.
The general cleanliness of the lodge was below standard (which is why I feel like they should supply some cleaning products in the lodges to assist with the clean up during the stay). There were several dead flies on the floor of the bathroom and cobwebs in the bedroom. The open plan hard flood had visible dirt upon arrival. There was a Hoover in the cupboard, which i did use, however could of done with a mop and bucket as well just to help the cleaners that clearly struggle to clean the lodges.
The site is very small. Only a few lodges on the site and absolutely no facilities there. The nearest shops/pub is a 3 minute drive but this is a small village so no big shop around.
The lodge was lovely and I enjoyed myself was just let down by the minor details that effected my stay.

Thank you for your review and we are so sorry to hear that your break was not enjoyed to its full by some oversights from our housekeeping team and do apologise. This is not our usual standard and it upsets us to know that we have not met all of your holiday expectations. There is no excuse for our cleaning standard to be under par and this has been raised with our house keeping team to address. Also the omission of a couple of the sundry items which we usually provide as complimentary to start you off with your self catering holiday were missing, as you say all of these items are then available to purchase from reception or are available at the village shop a short drive away. We do appreciate all of our reviews in order to make improvements to our service and thank you for drawing these things to our attention, we do take all comments on board. I do hope that you will visit us again sometime and give us another go to get things right for you.

We stayed here in a studio pod for 3 nights, upon arrival we were impressed, pod was very modern, looked clean and surroundings were beautiful. We also had a smart tv with Netflix and prime which were a bonus, you don’t normally get that anywhere else. We did have a few issues, check in was changed to 6pm to allow for extra cleaning and accommodation to air out? I don’t think any extra cleaning was done, we had cobwebs in one corner of the room and I saw dust on several things. It was advertised as a 5pm check in but I was e-mailed and told 6 which I found inconvenient, especially with 2 children. This also meant we lost a whole first day and having to check out at 9am cut our last day short too. Regarding this I would like to know if the accommodations are left to air out and extra cleaning is done because when we were leaving we saw the cleaners going straight in to the accommodation opposite, not even 5 minutes after the group had left, and they were making up beds??
Another issue we had was the beds, advertised on hoseasons it says there is a king size sofa bed. This is false, the sofa bed is probably as big as a double and has the thinnest mattress I have ever seen, you can feel everything underneath and it was so uncomfortable to lie and sit on! When it was folded up as a sofa the back just kept sinking in and you could feel the bars underneath you. The other bed that was provided also had a very thin mattress and was very uncomfortable too. Advertised as having a barbecue on deck but was tiny and quite dirty too. Was supplied with bath robes, however was very tatty and one had a big hole where the loop should of been.
Unfortunately were disappointed, we were expecting a lot more especially for the money we paid (£375) I don’t think we would choose to come back here any time soon.

Thank you for your honest review, we do appreciate all reviews in order to help us to improve on areas for future guests. Thank you for appreciating that we now have our new internet up and running and guests can now get the service they were looking for. On reading your review I can understand that you were a little disappointed. We are hoping along with everyone else that at some point we will be able to return to our normal check in and out times. We do have strict cleaning regimes with additional teams working initially to go into lodges to fog then air the units before the cleaners go in so this maybe what you saw happening. It is in the sanitation process that costs us the cleaning time and hopefully as things improve with Covid this will become less of an issue for our guests. However you should not have found dust in the lodge and this has been raised with the housekeeping team to be rectified. The whole team feel disappointed when our guests experience is less than they had hoped for, we are working on the mattress issues and have got a couple on trial at the moment to help improve this we will also be contacting hoseasons to look at the bed descriptions. We do hope that on the whole you were able to enjoy some time with us and explore the local area. Many guests do come back time and time again so it is disappointing for us to hear that you do not think you will come back. Once again thank you for your honest review and please accept our apologies for your disappointment, of not meeting your expectations.

A lovely, peaceful stay in a clean, luxurious environment.
A long awaited break away from the chaos of daily life. And wanting something a bit different. We paid over £550 for 3 nights, as this was all that was available, and therefore did not venture much further than the local village. As we wanted to soak up all that the accommodation had to offer.
The site itself is very peaceful, but maybe not best suited to ourselves for future visits with our children (4 and 6); need a little bit more than a hot tub to keep them occupied. Ideal for couples, and families with older children that are happy to drive or walk a bit further out to find entertainment. We had a lovely time for the few nights we stayed and cannot fault the accommodation.
Our only gripe would be, the check in and check out times (6pm Check In - 9am Check Out, not advertised when booking). We were aware of these once the terms and conditions came through, so had time to get used to this. However on the day of departure we had staff leaving fresh laundry and toiletries on the decking of the tent at 7.15am, when we were already due to leave at a ridiculously early time of 9am. We felt like we were being ushered out. And then a further member of staff proceeded to drop off the hoover filter, around 8am. We felt this was really unnecessary, when we were already vacating at such an early time. Im not sure whether Covid regulations are being used efficiently in this case.

My and my boyfriend stayed here for our anniversary, The resort is so beautiful and modern and so peacful! We arrived early after a few hours travel and were able to check in early which was great, the Studio Pod was so clean and modern and so cozy, There was also a little hamper filled with nibbles which was such a nice touch! We stayed with our dog and there was plenty of room for the three of us! The hot tubs were so nice and easy to use, they were checked twice a day which was really good and hats of to them for checking it as they weather was crazy this last week deffinatley dedication!
Our only bug bear would be the towel situation they provide towels which is really good of them but when your there a week it would be nice to have fresh ones especially with needing a shower after every hot tub use. Same with the tea towels just because they’re hard to keep clean after a few pot washes.
We loved the resort so much we ended up extending our stay by and extra 2 nights, we asked at reception but they said someone was booked for the pod we were currently staying so we ended up booking on the website for another pod! We were able to check in early again which was great and meant we got a full day there allowing us to make the most of our holiday! in the second pod the heated towel rail was turned off but after going to reception a really friendly man came to sort it for us and although it wasn’t resolved (not through the resorts fault!) we were offered to move pods which we thought was above and beyond of them but we decline because we wanted the square hot tub!
Staff were all so friendly and we will 100% be returning!
Thankyou!

I have stayed here before in one of the lodges with friends and absolutely loved it, so I couldn’t wait to come back with my husband and young son. Unfortunately covid hit straight after my first visit so it’s taken to now to return. I booked the safari tent having seen them and thinking how much my son would love it. I expected it to be a lower standard than a lodge obviously, but as it’s marketed (and charged!) as premium I still expected quite a bit. Unfortunately it was a very different experience to the lodge. An email on the week of the holiday stating a 6.00pm check in, when hoseasons said it was 5.00 to allow for covid cleaning (usually 4.00)and a 9.00am check out cut the weekend short to start with. First impressions on arrival were good. Son loved the bed cupboard, everything looked great. Welcome basket was a hit. It’s tradition for us to get straight in the hot tub after a long drive, but the hot tub wasn’t hot. 32 degrees so that was a no go. We cranked it up and by 9ish it was hot. I assume it was from cleaning/emptying but given the 8/9 hours allowed for cleaning this isn’t great. The tent wasn’t spotless either, massive dust on the electrical pipes in the cupboard bedroom for example and no hand sanitiser or hand soap as advertised by hoseasons for covid, just a 20g mini hard soap in the bathroom........which makes the excessive check in/out times hard to swallow.
The Main bedroom looks cute but is tight to squeeze between the posts and wardrobe. No chance of a quick nip to the bathroom without having to wake up the husband! As mentioned in previous reviews it needs storage. Shelves or hooks or something. Nowhere to put the robes in the bathroom, make up or toiletries etc and absolutely nowhere for the kids room clothes.
The main issues for us - the shower was cold. Either intermittent or just freezing but never warm, although to give credit this was fixed after a couple of emails to reception. There’s no freezer despite hoseasons advertising there is. There was also no WiFi despite it being advertised, reception apologised but this is a known issue as they are awaiting new cables. Our second biggest issue - the neighbours. Unfortunately two families booked adjacent safari tents and were loud and inconsiderate with free running off lead dogs, screaming and singing kids and blaring music, with our other safari lodge neighbour having to ask them to shut up. We were two tents down and easily heard every word well into midnight. Not the fault of the site really, but why accept group bookings and why not have someone checking the rules are adhered to occasionally? We saw no staff at any point anywhere but in fairness it says contactless operations.
We visited aberdyfi and elan valley and enjoyed both.
All in all I wanted to love it, I expected to love it but too many little niggles coupled with inconsiderate people ruined it for us, which is a shame as it really wasn’t cheap and holidays are far between in the current climate!

Hello, We are so sorry to hear that your holiday was not up to what you would have wanted it to be and we are looking into all of the issues you have raised. Any of those that we can do something about we will. Some issues were unfortunate for you with regards to the wifi that was undergoing change of supply to what is now a fast wifi for guests to enjoy . We do not generally knowingly accept group bookings these were two families that came together but subsequently became a group and we are sorry to hear that this also impacted your holiday. The shower/ maintenance issue was as you say able to be sorted out while you were out and about which was easily remedied by our staff who although were not seen much were on site testing hot tubs, doing maintenance and in reception. We are always disappointed when our guests are less than satisfied. Please could you email us on enquiries@maesmawrfarm.co.uk and give us the chance to discuss further. We would of course like you to come back and visit again and enjoy your holiday with us as you did previously in the lodge. Kind Regards Pam Rowden

We stayed in a studio pod for 3 nights, and we’re happy with the quality and overall presentation of our accommodation.
At a glance the pod looked clean and smelled fresh, however looking closer we could find dust on the top of the head-height fridge and television, and additionally the outdoor furniture had not been cleaned, as there were crushed and wet crisps in the grooves of the chair, which comes as a small shock as we were told that we could not arrive until around 6pm due to enhanced COVID cleaning procedures.
The studio pods are well equipped with kitchen facilities and utensils, and the induction hob makes cooking simple, however the microwave/combination grill was difficult to use and although instructions are provided the markings have worn off.
The living area is also great, and our surprisingly comfortable sofa bed was clean, and free of smells. The batteries in the LED lighting remote control were dead, or the remote does not work but it wasn’t a big issue.
The star of the show was the jacuzzi. Sunk into the decking area makes it easy to enter and exit, and is also surrounded by barriers fence for privacy, and we were both very pleased with this.
Customer service at this resort can be improved, very much improved, although I only had one small issue, it stands out all the more. I visited the reception area to ask for out outdoor furniture to be cleaned, and asked if they had any facilities to dry out seat cushions as they had been left in the rain. The member of staff on the desk was very rude in their response and then proceeded to answer the phone while I was talking, ignoring me.
Overall, we have enjoyed our stay here, and look forward to booking a larger accommodation in the winter where we hope we will not have the small issues again, and we would recommend this resort to others.

Hi, Thank you for your kind and honest review of your stay with us. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us overall and we do look forward to welcoming you back in the winter in one of our larger lodges, each season brings its own unique qualities from the everchanging landscape and views to the experience of a hot tub on a crisp morning or evening. It is upsetting for the team to hear however that not everything was to your satisfaction. It is absolutely no excuse for you to have found crisps and dust so this will be taken to our housekeeping department. We do have a very new team here at the moment so we will be looking into the matter to see who needs extra training . Having brought this to our attention in reception this should have been dealt with in a different manner. This is unusual for our reception team as many reviews will testify are usually very friendly and happy to help, we are sorry you had this poor experience. Thank you for not letting this put you off and for recommending the resort, I am sure on your revisit you will see a difference as we do strive to improve on any comments that are made in our reviews.

We stayed in the Lapwing lodge for Christmas. The Lodge was clean and tidy on arrival and the Christmas Tree was a nice touch which gave the lodge a warm, cosy feel. There was also a 'welcome pack' in the lodge which included some water, sweets etc. We stayed with our 3 young children who really enjoyed the hot tub which was warm and cleaned regularly ( we had a pleasant chat with one of the 'hot tub men') who was very polite. Not much on the park or the surrounding area for the kids, but understand this is a relaxing resort and also being Christmas, we were happy to make our own entertainment. Main shops and supermarkets are about a 10 min drive into Newtown. We did drive to Aberystwyth on Boxing Day to 'clean the cobwebs' which is a pleasant/scenic drive (about 45 mins) All bedrooms had a TV along with the main one in the lounge (we even managed to sign into our Netflix which was useful) and the lodge also had WIFI which kept the kids entertained. Overall a pleasant stay and very quiet/relaxing. If you are expecting busy, fast paced arcades/entertainment, then I suggest you look at a Haven/Parkdean holiday.
