Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sister and I had a fabulous weekend, celebrating her 50th birthday at Tower Bank Arms. Comfortable bedrooms, delicious evening meal, friendly bar staff, tasty breakfasts. Sister loved her birthday treat - the traditional pub, roaring fires, welcoming locals and as usual, Anthony was a great host. Hope we can return soon.

We happened upon the Tower Bank Arms, a gem of a pub hidden away in “Near Sawrey”, whilst walking one Saturday afternoon. Welcoming landlord, outstanding local beers, friendly atmosphere, great food and music. Would we visit again? ABSOLUTELY ! 👍👍

We arrived just after 2.00pm, 6 adults and a big dog, Ordered drinks and enquired if it was too late to order food as past 2. Landlord went above and beyond went to kitchen and came back with an offer of a platter of sandwiches, pork pie and bowl of chips. Offer gratefully received. To our minds this cheerful service was beyond our expectations and made our day. By the way the music here is great. Quirky bike saddle animal heads a triumph. Visit and you'll see. Thanks.

Gorgeous country pub, the rooms were lovely and the food was exceptional. Some of the nicest wine (organic) we’ve had for a while, and the Loweswater Gold beer is some of the best you’ll find. I left an item in the room and the owner arranged postage back to me as soon as I emailed them, infact I think it was already en route. To cap it all the brekky was really nice, loads of choice, great quality. All in all a great place to stay.

There's not really a lot to say: a small country inn, adjacent to Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top'. Very good food (too much at times), very good beer, comfortable rooms & beds (with sheets & blankets) good (& competent) staff & management. The only downside is that parking can be a bit 'iffy' at times, but the staff will look after you. Dogs are welcome! (2nd stay this year) Recommended!

The staff in the pub were lovely, especially the lady. Nice inside. Nice selection of drinks for adults and kids. Lots of different snacks to choose from. Great view from inside and the beer garden was great too. Would happily come back here again.

My husband and I ate here on our holiday last week twice as we were staying very close by. When you walk through the door its like going back in time and not just because of the decor, which is very charming, but also the way the proprietor and his team welcome you and treat you throughout. Your greeted warmly, personally shown to your table and brought a jug of water. Drinks orders are taken while you peruse the menu and ponder the specials above the fireplace which change daily. Little touches make all the difference like real napkins and being called by your first name (makes you feel so welcome). Now to the food, my goodness. The Tower Bank Arms is an old Lakeland traditional pub but the food is far from standard 'pub grub' it was outstanding. Fresh local ingredients, huge portions and served piping hot and you could tell that everything was home cooked. We tried dishes off the standard menu choices and the specials and all were fantastic, what a chef !! Cant wait to go back..

We spent some time here during a recent stay in Near Sawrey both for drinks and a meal. The hospitality was excellent and the food was delicious! A great village local with genuine warmth and hospitality, organised, efficient and all round memorable part of our holiday. Book ahead for dinner as they’re in demand. Thank you Matt, Anthony & Co.
