We were traveling from Trowbridge to Aylesbury on a Sunday lunchtime and followed the 'brown sign' off the main road. When we arrived the pub was heaving, but far from being turned away we were welcomed and a table found. Service was excellent and the food (Sunday roasts), even better! The only downside was that I was so full I...

We went for my husbands birthday as heard good things about the food. When we got there we were welcomed by many and made to feel at home. Prices were a little more than we would normally pay for food admittedly but we could not fault one thing. My steak was absolutely beautiful and had the smoothest, tastiest peppercorn sauce...

Visited for an overnight stay last night. Fell in love with the place. Such a warm welcome from the owner. Shown room then straight back for dinner. Food was fantastic. Service was prompt and not in your face. Drinks always kept topped up. Decor is quaint and quirky which i loved. Right down to the low ceilings and numerous items...

The Chequers is one of a growing breed of village pubs where the food served is of a very high order. They have an extensive menu, and we have yet to find fault with any aspect. The greeting from Ian and Jacky is always warm, and the attention is always prompt.

We stumbled across this gorgeous pub by accident. Glad we did and will be back. The Landlord was friendly and funny. Food was great. Good amount of choices & reasonably priced. The gardens were so well kept and I loved the hanging baskets.

This is nice pub with a focus on restaurant not a drinkers place really. The food was above average pub food, served piping hot and the portions were very good. Nice decoration, clean and tidy - all to be recommended. The landlord did everything including clearing the tables - well done him! One suggestion would be to avoid calling the...

We arrived at about 12.10 pm for lunch and appeared to be the first customers of the day. My partner requested a soft drink (she was driving) and was told she was really pushing the boat out; not the most customer friendly repartee. We were then shown to a very small two person table and I enquired of the same...

Great evening well done to Jackie and Ian and everyone to helped bring last nights Garden Party to fruition. Despite some showers the entertainment and food was superb. That Pigeon and Venison Pie!! Wow. An amazing amount raised as well.

This is a very local small pub in a village some miles of the A420. Having said that we were made very welcome and given a table straight away. The food was excellent and within the hour we were there the pub filled up for classic Sunday lunches. This was a lunch stop to break up a long journey. If...
