We stayed at Au Petit Verger on one of our overnight stops as we hiked the Sentier Cathare. We enjoyed Martyn's hospitality and delicious evening meal. He had not been forewarned (by the company that organized our trip) that we are vegetarian, but he graciously changed his menu and dinner plan to meet our needs. We enjoyed a delicious mushroom risotto as the main entree. Thank you Martyn! The three of us were the only guests that night so were given our choice of rooms. My husband & I selected the large family room with en suite on the first floor; our friend had a cheery large room with separate bath on the second floor. Both were comfortable and quiet.

The hospitality was great. The owner knows the area very well, is relaxed and makes sure that you are having a good time. Breakfast is good and the optional diner is a recommendation. Rooms are clean and good.

We had a wonderful stay at the lovely house of Martin and his family. Puivert is a nice little town with some restaurants and a very good beer bar! Martin is extremely friendly, he loves to bike and to explain the region if you like. We had a lovely, calm room to the garden with shower, toilet separate. Great breakfast! We will never forget this place and will remember Martin as a great host! Cheers Martin if you read this 😀 Peter

Beautiful home, comfortable beds, delicious food, and warm, welcoming, helpful hosts. This stay was a highlight of our trip. Would stay there again. Warm lake for swimming nearby. The lake was also a great place to hangout while waiting to check in. Great spot for hikers and couples. Highly recommended!

Martyn and Anne have a lovely old building, with a terrace that was perfect for enjoying a cold beer. Martyn stocks some of the local beers, a good change from the usual brands. We wanted to walk to Montsegur but were short on time, so Martyn gave us some advice and a lift so that we could reach Montsegur the next day (walked down to the Sentier Cathar from Balesta). A very pleasant place to stay, hiking or not.

Hope you benefited from the improvement in the weather but I suspect you were just a day or two too early. Come again when the sun is shining!
