Ideal location in the countryside in between Kirkwall and Stromness. The accommodations were fabulous with all the amenities that anyone would ever need. We stayed in 2 different lodges during our 2 week stay and both were warm with underfloor heating, very quiet and very comfortable. Hosts Moira and Margaret provided friendly and helpful information and very most accommodating. The view of Scapa Flow from the Lodges was breathtaking from every angle. We could see the Oil Platforms and small boats in the bay as well as the ferry going across to Flotta. We also has a small sheep family in field beside us that added some entertainment with the young lamb especially. Definitely would recommend these lodges and would happily stay there again.

This was our second stay at these lodges. The lodges are clean, modern and have underfloor heating. The views from the cottages are fantastic. The owner lives nearby and is very helpful if you need any advice/ information. We have had a fantastic holiday and have just rebooked to come back to the lodges next year.

We stayed for a week in October. The location is perfect equidistant between Stromness and Kirkwall with wonderful ever changing views over Scapa Flow. The property is well designed and equipped, very comfortable and, important in October when it can be cold, supplied with very efficient underfloor heating. Margaret is a delightful host. Wifi included.

Lovely cosy cottage for a family. We stayed in Fara.Bit of space outside for the children to play in. Lovely host Margaret who made us feel most welcome. Spent a few happy evenings sipping Kirkuvagr gin and watching the light changing over Scapa Flow!

We stayed in Cava, which had outstanding view across Scapa Sound. The rooms were spacious rooms with effective underfloor heating. The kitchen was well equipped for food preparation Welcome pack of local produce. We liked the position – out of town away from crowds, particularly when the large cruise boats arrive. But very well placed to explore a range of places Comfortable beds, with very good quality linen Modern, good layout parking next to cottage

I travelled to Orkney with my cousin and her husband and stayed at one of Margaret's beautiful Lodges overlooking Scapa Flow. Fara Lodge is semi detached and is tastefully built, a lot of thought has gone into the construction so that the views of Scapa Flow are maximised ( mezzanine sitting area with large velux windows and sliding door downstairs into the shared garden) the underfloor heating is very cosy, electric sockets plentiful and the lighting well thought out. Beds very comfy. Margaret greeted us on arrival and was available for any queries, lots of info in the accommodation re places to visit. The setting between Kirkwall and Stromness was very handy and we fitted in a visit to Hoy using the nearby ferry at Houton. If you are going to self cater bring along some basics like salt etc . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. A lot of guests appear to rebook, so a good endorsement.…

This was among the best self catering accomodation we have stayed in. It is a modern solid building, not just a "lodge". Spacious with modern design and decor. It was warm. I was a bit worried when we arrived that it was joined on to the adjacent lodge but we didn't hear a sound from our neighbours the whole time we were there. The main selling point however is the view. It looks over the fields to Scapa Flow.

A warm welcome from Margaret when we arrived and throughout our stay. An immaculate lodge offering high spec bathrooms, kitchen and facilities - even underfloor heating. But best of all was the view over Scapa Flow from our windows. From our various trips to the Orkney Islands, we have always been impressed by the 'joined-up thinking' between the ferry operators, food producers, craft industry, shops, hotels and restaurants. All wishing to showcase the full range of talents on offer. Orkney is a wonderfully unique place with so much wildlife on show and so many sites of historic interest ranging from over 3,000BC to the present day which you can easily become immersed in. The increasing popularity of the Islands as a tourist destination is far from surprising but it is essential that the same level of genuine and friendly service we are used to is not lost. I am confident that anyone visiting one of Margaret's lodges or her B&B will not leave disappointed - by the facilities, the history or the views. Thank you for a wonderful week at Scapa Flow Lodges.…
