I stayed here for a couple of nights last week. I was very well looked after by Ann, and my room was comfortable, quiet and had an en-suite. There was plenty of hot water and also a little fridge to keep milk etc in. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room, with the extra treat of a few biscuits each day. Riverside guesthouse is also situated right near Roydon station with trains into Liverpool Street.

We booked at the last minute but Anne quickly confirmed our bookings and gave us all the information needed for our stay. Our room was very clean and had a comfortable bed, with a shower room that had plenty of hot water. Anne had provided a hostess tray with coffee, tea, milk, sugar and some biscuits. There was also a small fridge in the room which was handy for keeping our drinks chilled as the weather was warm. The house is located very close to the station, handy for the train to London. We had a lovely walk around the marina, which again is steps away. Anne gave us a key so that we could come and go as we please. We were able to park at the property which was easy to find and located in a lovely Essex village. Anne is a delightful host, providing lovely clean rooms in her house, we would highly recommend this accommodation for its good price, cleanliness, lovely host and proximity to transport.…

The second time I have stayed at Riverside Guesthouse and as before spotlessly clean and a very comfortable bed! Some nice touches like bottled water and milk in the fridge in the room. Ann is very friendly and welcoming and I would definitely recommend to friends.

Riverside Guesthouse is a welcome retreat, quiet and restful. Ann took excellent care of her American guest. Continental breakfast was fresh every morning and delivered unobtrusively while I was out of the room. Linens were fresh and changed often. I would definitely stay again.

Clean, tidy and the owner was nice. It's conveniently close to the station but be careful to get to your train with plenty of time if you are going towards Stanstead as the train barrier were closed for 3 trains to pass which ment we missed ours. It was a very easy one night stay. Our room was a little small for a long stay.

Top marks for cleanliness, in a lovely house by the river, in a great location for Essex and Herts. Stayed 1 night with a friend before going on a cycling weekend, and there was a safe place for our bikes. The continental breakfast was more than we could eat along with fresh fruit tea, ground coffee and fresh orange juice.

My wife and I were shown every courtesy by the owner and we were made to feel very welcome. We had never been to Essex before and found the Village charming, even the Saturday market. The breakfast was everything a continental should be. If ever in that neck of the woods again will definitely stay there.

This guesthouse is in a perfect location, easy access to London by train - it’s less than half an hour away - visiting theatreland is a doddle. The M11 and M25 are close by, as is Stansted Airport. Both Harlow and Cambridge offer alternative shopping venues and both accessed by rail or road. Riverside is clean, comfortable and pretty much provides everything needed; ensuite, fridge, TV, kettle, toaster and even a fold down table; continental breakfast was great, tea, coffee, breads, cereal, fresh fruit, juice, yoghurt and preserves. Ann couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The setting is really nice, the garden is very pretty and overlooks the River Stort and the village sports 3 pubs and a corner shop. Highly recommended.
