Myself, my partner, daughter and mother in law came away to the Marina Lodges for 2 nights. On arrival we were disappointed that check in was so late at 4pm but Ruth on reception was extremely helpful and pleasant.
The Lodge we stayed in was number 7 and I think we were lucky that this meant our hot tub was secluded in a back garden rather than at the front like many of the other lodges.
It had one double bedroom with an ensuite toilet and shower. It had a twin bedroom with an ensuite toilet and bath.
There was a lovely living area, huge tele mounted on the wall with freeview and 2 sofas that seated 2 people each.
If you wanted on the tele you could login to your netflix account which was really handy.
There was a fair size kitchen, complete with necessary items such as plates, bowls, cutlery, cups, wine glasses, pots and pans etc. There is a fridge, oven and microwave. They provide you with a mini cleaning kit which consisted of two black bin bags, a travel size bottle of washing up liquid, a sponge and tea towel. There was also access to a kettle, toaster and hob.
The rooms were very clean, beds made lovely and were super comfy.
Unfortunately due to the location you have to expect that there will be lots of leaves blowing about the decking area and also lots of spiders inside and out.
We had a lovely huge garden, table and chairs outside and access to the hot tub which was the icing on the cake!! Easy to use and such a treat!! Staff do come round the next morning to check the hot tub, so be aware someone could be in your garden early! Ha!
It was a beautiful location, peaceful and friendly.
Your a short drive to Epping, Hoddesdon and Harlow. Which had lots of shops and places to eat. About a 10 min drive from the lodge there is some places to eat and convenience shops if needed. Nearby is also a big sainsburys and Asda which was really handy. Parking on site at the lodges is free, you just have to register your car reg at the reception.
Overall it was an amazing break and I cannot wait to go back and just simply relax!!!!

We stayed in he Hotel in an "Inside" twin room. The website states that it is an inside room with no external windows, but does have a light tunnel. What it doesn't tell you is that there is no way to cover this tunnel So if you go in the height of summer your room will begin to get light at 5am and will not go dark until 10pm! We mentioned this to the lady on reception who said they have had many of the same comments, but it would cost too much to rectify. I also wrote to the hotel manager when we returned home. The reply was "The skylight is there as we have to provide natural light if a power cut occurs"
If the light keeps you awake, Don't book this room!
The toilets in the hotel are macerator toilets. Very very noisy!
It's such a shame because this is a lovely location and some of the lodges look amazing. Our stay was ruined by the bright lit room and the aftersales customer service left a lot to be desired.

My other half booked one of the VIP lodges for my birthday. On arrival we was very confused on what and where we should be checking in or how we would get to our lodge. The reception is next to marcos this was not clear and there should of been some lights outside to highlight that is where is it. Before we found reception we checked our email to make sure we hadnt missed any information. On the email it said any problems please call dave and then a phone number so this is what we did twice, dave however did not answer! Once we found reception and checked in. We opened the lodge door and it was freezing there was no heating on, we had to figure out ourselves how to work the heating, heating works by pushing a button every 2 hours. After the 2 hours, heating goes off. The first night of our stay we were both freezing in the middle of the night because like i just mentioned heating goes off every 2 hours. We pushed the button before bed and kept the bedroom door shut to try and keep the heat in. We accepted the heating situation and didn’t let it annoy us. Next when we was due to cook our dinner we come to find they didn’t have any cooking oil, even though on their website it states under amenities cooking oil, salt and pepper. We thought maybe they had forgotten to restock so we decided to give dave another try on his mobile again ringing him twice and getting no answer from him. We checked the paper work which said on Friday reception closes early, however I suggested just giving it a ring to see if anyone answers. Luckily someone did, my other half spoke to a man, told him the situation about it stating what was on the website for him to reply that none of them things they provide and he cant help us. My other half said its late we haven’t eaten there must be something you can do baring in mind we hadnt been in the lodge long. He suggested asking the cafè for some oil so off my partner went to get some. Once that situation was sorted we decided to go into the hot tub later that evening we had 4 bath towels and 4 hand towels. We used two for the hot tub and then 2 for the shower. We didnt mind this because there was two of us however, this lodge was for 4 people for 2 nights no way would there of been enough towels for hottub and shower use for 4 people for 2 days and We were never offered fresh towels the next day either.

Ok now thats the moans out the way, we must say the lodge was lovely and clean and very modern. There isnt much to do on and around the park so I suggest taking games ect. Overall i did enjoy my stay as it was nice to get away but sadly we wouldn’t return and will not be recommending this either and I believe dave the ‘Manager’ should get a new job as he clearly can’t do his correctly.

Stayed here for 3 nights with two girl friends. The lodge was really nice, double bedroom with en suite, twin, bathroom and spacious kitchen/living room. There was decking with a hot tub and a pretty big garden area with seating. The place was pretty nice, tidy, there was some bits that could do with a deep clean. The en-suite shower floor wasn’t nice and there was stains on the wall. Just some extra attention to details. It had pretty much all the facilities we needed, including bins, dishwasher tablets etc. We were in lodge 3 which was very close to reception. Very close to bins and recycling which was handy. The hot tub was fabulous! Keep it at around 38 degrees as that seems to be the perfect temperature!
Good luck washing thicker hair in the en-suite as the shower is extremely weak but the other one is better.
Reception was a quick check in and they were very helpful and informative.
Overall we had a good few days away and we would stay again

Basic room even though it was an ‘Executive‘ room. The bathroom was pretty Executive with a bath with a shower attached and a separate shower!
The bed was hard but comfortable. The 4 pillows provided were all the same and too fat for me!
Other reviews had said that there was no breakfast available but they have been doing breakfast at the Boathouse cafe since August. No cereals, fruit, jams, marmalade etc but a good Full English or baguettes (?) .
The Marina area is lovely with loads of lovely walks along canal paths for miles.

A beautiful place to stay, very quiet and peaceful but let down by the staff. Me and my partner paid £600+ for four nights here, unfortunately, on our third day, we called at 9:30am to have the jacuzzi emptied as it had turned murky and they said they would be there shortly. Rang again at 11:40 after no one turned up to be told that they couldn’t get hold of the maintenance staff to come and do it but they would keep trying. Called once more at 1:14pm, bearing in mind the weather was 35c and we were both sweating, waiting to use the jacuzzi, I spoke to a young man who said he would try calling him again, I asked him to take my number down and call me back and he said we would in a few minutes. Half an hour passes and hear nothing so I called again to be told that the maintenance staff are on their lunch break. They finally turn up after 3pm and started draining the jacuzzi and walked off, they was gone so long after it had finished draining that we filled it up ourselves in the hose they had left. Didn’t even get in until 5pm so a complete day wasted pottering around waiting. I’m an NHS worker whose been working 7 days a week throughout the pandemic and was looking forward to a relaxing break to end up with unnecessary stress caused by a complete lack of communication between staff and no care for the people they’re meant to be providing a service for, didn’t even get an apology when we left. Will never come back.

We visit for a couples retreat to Roydon Marina Village, booking one of the log cabins with hot tub.

Due to all the Covid restrictions, we weren't totally sure what to expect, however after the dull and very clinical check (this service needs improving!) we ventured to our cabin...wow!

We absolutely loved it. The lodge was beautiful, clean, spacious, immaculately decorated and the hot tub was perfect.

We visited the Boat House Cafe onsite too and this was excellent value for money.

Definitely will return!

We stayed as a family of 4 for 3 nights in lodge 39. We arrived after 7pm, so ample time for the lodge to be cleaned properly before we got there.
I think the cleaners had literally just changed the beds and put bin liners in, as nowhere had been hoovered. Cupboards and drawers in bedrooms were all dirty. There was an empty packet of Asda popcorn under the master bedroom bed (which was clearly visible from entering the room). The hob looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. So on arrival, I spent my time cleaning the lodge to my standard.
For some reason there were also no cushions in the property.
Ive given 3 stars because the lodge has nice furnishings and the Marina village is a lovely location; convenient for trips to London, as the train runs past the park (there is train noise, which seems to end around midnight and start again around 5:30am, but you get used to it).
We also tried to have breakfast in the boathouse at the Marina on the Sunday, but 45 minutes after ordering, there was still no sign of the food (despite reminding them), so we left!
We like the place (our 2nd visit), and would probably go back again, but the level of cleaning this time was inexcusable
