The timber-work, matting and walls of this 150 year-old house are just beautiful. Dinner with local ingredients was great. Onshen for two suited a couple. Segregated shared, bathroom facilities were quite modern.

Stayed for 1 night in twin room overlooking river - very serene and peaceful once the day trip tourists have left. Ryokan very easy to reach. Would highly recommend leaving large luggage either at Takayama coin lockers / Shirkarwargo bus station.
