We arrived late but key was waiting for us. Beautiful little traditional place. Owners dont speak much english but are very friendly. Beds were comfotavle with share bathrooms. Not too far away from the slopes. Breakfast was different with something new every day. Very close to onsens and centre of town.

Mitsubachi Maaya is run by a beautiful older Japanese couple, Ikeda san and Michiko, who speak very little English but always have a warm and welcoming smile. Because it's connected with Nozawa Holidays, Aussie Luke who is based less than 100m up the street at Nagano Lodge, is super helpful and has great knowledge of the area and anything else...

My husband and I stayed at Lodge Nagano many years ago. We love the village of Nozawa Onsen and decided on a one night detour after several days at Hakuba. We only stayed for one night at Mitsubachi Maya but my daughter and her partner stayed 3 nights. Our room was quiet, quaint, clean and the bed fairly comfy. The...

We stayed at Mitsubachi Maya, hired skis, got lift passes, lessons, and booked tours all via Nozawa Holidays. We had the best ski trip ever ! Our hosts were great despite limited english, they are always happy! Tatami rooms were very comfortable and not too small, the hotel is always warm, even hot at times. The onsen/shower rooms downstairs were a plus so you didnt...

Bookings, hire gear, lift tickets, tours even a night out was organised. We caught the late shuttle from Narita, and were dropped off at the door of...

Love Mitsubachi Maaya. We have now stayed three years running in this B&B. The Ikedas are kind and helpful. They don't speak a lot of English however Lodge Nagano (blue house up the road) helps out when needed. Breakfast is great with lots of choices. Will stay again.

If you're looking for a fairly authentic Japanese lodge in a great location, this is it. It's a modest house and the hosts speak almost no English but their friendly and helpful attitude more than made up for it. My two daughters and I stayed for 7 nights in a triple room which was cramped but it would have been...

I stayed here over the New Year holidays. It was quite busy yet quiet. Breakfast is a definite plus if you plan on skiing all day. Loading up on various carbs (toast, potatoes, gyoza, etc.) and some fresh fruit and yogurt help to get you going in the morning. I stayed in a western style room with a shared bathroom...

We stayed 4 nights in this lodge to ski. lodge is close to Lodge Nagano where you can ask for assistance in English for information. Staff at Lodge Nagano are very helpful! We had an excellent experience with our ski instructor, Max, and ski rental with Nozawa Holiday! Unfortunately i find the breakfasts served in Mitsubachi Maya are mainly fried...

As many others have written, we found the owners of this small guesthouse wonderful hosts. The location is convenient to the centre of nozawa onsen... And an easy walk to start a day skiing. We were particularly grateful to our hosts who woke at 2am to receive our bag that Jetstar Japan mishandled and delayed for over 48 hours. We...
