We had such a great time staying at the Bamboo-Hill Sasaokado! The service is excellent & the Western style breakfast delicious. We loved the location as it's only a short stroll from the main gondola and from center of village when going out for dinner at night! What we enjoyed the most though was the warmth and the amazing hospitality...

I went for 6 days skiing with my son in a traditional Japanese Ryokan. It surpassed all our expectations with amazing powder snow conditions and friendly helpful staff . They helped with great ski hire and tickets at a discount , explanation of traditional Japanese food and traditions . We experienced the annual fire festival which was entertaining to say...

Whilst initially it appeared there would be challenges given that virtually no English was spoken and this was very much a traditional Ryokan in its operation, it turned out to be a very pleasant stay for two senior Aussies who spend most of their time pursuing activities that many people half our age consider too rigorous, skiing being just one...

Lovely little family run Inn. The family speaks a little english and are very helpful. We stayed for 6 nights in three person room. Shared Onsen (open 3.30-10pm) and bathroom facilities which are clean and adequate. Breakfast included which is accompanied by a cute announcement at 8am each morning. I wasn't keen on the morning fish sidedish but had eggs,...

The property is equidistant from the main street and the ski lift. Rooms are small but comfortable however amenities are shared. Hosts are very friendly with limited English but go out of their way to respond to any queries via a call to a translator. Their eat in option provides excellent food and great value. A ski hire on the...

We were at Bamboo Hill for two nights for skiing and the annual fire festival held on 15 Jan each year. It is a cute little ryokan located walking distance between the main bus stop and the ski slopes (walking up the slope a little bit to get there), near three public onsens (free public hot spring baths). The owners...

Stayed 5 nights with my partner (friends stayed in the same inn, different room). I had such an eye opening and wonderful experience in this ryokan/inn. The hosts are a lovely couple/family who are very warming. They spoke minimal english - so it is better suited to independent travellers who don't need much attention. It's a great base for ski...

Great place to stay with everything you need. Quick walk to main gondola, drying room, in-house onsen, breakfasts and dinners, lovely family running the place. The rooms are spacious and are traditional--tatami style with futons--very comfortable. The best thing about this place is the family running it--very friendly.

Great family in here. Home stay style. Communication is abit tough, but with translator apps, you cant be wrong. Full wifi, which is fantastic. Near ski lift, slight uphill, plenty food around. And lastly, the very clean in-house onsen. Love it!!

First of all, I cannot speak Japanese and came from Bangkok. I arrived in Nozawa Onsen without knowing anything about this town except how its snow resort looked like. I chose Bamboo Hill Sasaokaso for my first visit because the hotel was near the ski lift. It was just 5-minute walk. I could not walk for any longer distance than...
