I stayed 2 nights with my family at this incredibly well-maintained ryokan in November. From top to bottom, every experience was perfect. The services were meticulous and the scenery was spectacular. This is one of the few onsen ryokans that allows family bathing outdoor (you reserve your time slots for their outdoor onsen). I was surprised my 4 year-old had... More

If you are looking for a typical classic Japanese ryokan adventure, Takefue is not. It's almost like a uber lux Balinese resort planted into a remote Kyushu countryside. Even that, the setting is serene and remote though it's just a 10 min drive from Kurokawa Onsen area. The overall design is to me excessive yet one can't fault the level... More

We stayed for a single night at Takefue as part of a driving tour around all of Kyushu in late September. We were a little worried about getting there, since there were still repairs being made to roads and infrastructure due to damage from the Kumamoto earthquake. But as we drove through the tiny mountain roads up to the ryokan,... More

We went there for 2 days and it could not have been more wonderful. From the moment you arrive everything you could need is taken care of for you. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful, we stayed in a different room each night and they each were amazing. The food was fantastic and there was... More

I just left today, but already consider abt coming next time, in another season (or rather, would love to come in all seasons). Takefue is spotless, from the view, to the room, the food, the service, the onsen, everything is simply perfect. Ms. Mayo helps us on all what we need, our sincere gratitude to her and all staff in... More

Takefue is truly a class above any other ryokan or hotel - everything from location, food, service to facilities was top-notch. It's a couple hours from Hakata by bus, but don't let that deter you, because Kurokawa Onsen is a beautiful and peaceful town with numerous nature walks and charming shops to explore. Our family took two rooms, both of... More

We had a honeymoon trip at Takefue. Everything was awesome especially private huge outdoor onsen in the room.We could float a tray with a sake bottle on top in the bath. They also provided an enormous public rotemburo, which can be reserved for private bathing so we had a chance to take many pictures in the onsen. Takefue has exclusive... More

We stayed over night at 竹ふえ to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were originally wait listed but we got lucky to have an opening on the day we wanted to travel. The property had a beautiful garden and landscapes. We were so happy with the size of the beautiful outdoor bath. It also comes with a table and foot bath... More

It is hard to put into words how special of a place Takefue is. Not only is it the most beautiful, relaxing and awe inspiring place we have ever stayed, the staff of this wonderful ryokan are some of the loveliest and most caring people we have ever met. We stayed at Takefue on April 15th/16th, the night of the... More
