The island is the best place we visit in our trip. The house is very nice, and the owner is the most helpful person we met in all Japan. It's true is a bit far from the village, but U need a car if U want to enjoy Yakushima. We walked to the village a few times, and is not...

With my wife, we stood 4 nights during february 2011 in the Daichan house's mongolian yurt. Daichan and Akiko were very kind. They gave us good maps and advise for hiking, onsen, food, and visiting this beautiful island. The place is simple, the yurt romantic and confortable. I was hiking in Yakushima and got stuck in a typhoon and while I had reserved two nights here, I was only able to come for one night. The staff were very understanding of my situation and only charged me for one night. The staff had very limited English (and my Japanese was also limited) but they were very kind...
