Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was in Brechin for an event, 3 Feb, saw The Northern Hotel a few paces away and decided to give it a look . A very warm, friendly welcome inside from all the staff, very clean and inviting surroundings. As visit was just for food, can't rate what the rooms are like on this occasion. Food was freshly made, very tasty and filling. Will return next time in the area

We went here for a Sunday carvery and we were not disappointed. Real value for money with 2 or three courses to choose from, a great selection of 4 different meats with accompanying gravy. We had the Prawns to start and the roast leg of lamb with rosemary and onion gravy with the usual trimmings and it was absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend it.

Went for the carvery and was not disappointed, roast beef was well cooked, crispy roast potato’s and a fantastic gravy, the perfectly crisp Yorkshire pudding was an added bonus! For dessert I had the triple chocolate brownie which was gooey, warmed through and delighfully chocolatey! Stuti to my hosts! Will return for some Sri Lankan curry!

Poor poor poor all round no particular focus point just a general OH. If your hungry eat before you go, if you want sometta little different cook it at home Over all a very below average experience but the charges were well in line with good quality restaurants Not worth it get I. Your car and pop to Montrose better food and choice. 100% underwhelmed

Although we did not stay the night at the Northern we were on our way travelling from Glasgow to Aberdeen and were stranded in Brechin due to the storm. We were invited inside to wait for a lift by the owners son. He was a very well mannered boy and when we arrived at the hotel the owners were extremely welcoming. They let us sit in the lobby, eat some food and chatted to us until our lift arrived. It was a very pleasant experience and would recommend the place to others!
