Booked for 4 days camping here as it was highly recommended. Very, very disappointed. Like most sites there is a clear 10pm Curfew but the Lodge near our tent had an outdoor party with a group of 13 around a table and no social distancing, lasting from 8pm until the Manager finally arrived after many complaints at 11-15pm. We expected the Manager to enforce their rules and ask those people to leave. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. AS I am a 72 year old in the vulnerable category we had no option but to leave the site 3 days early and lodge a complaint. After 3 weeks and several emails they refused to give me any money back or even an apology. I desperately wanted to support our local businesses but if this is they way they treat us then it makes it very difficult, These kind of Tourists spoil it for everyone, have no respect for rules and they must be dealt with - not ignored like this.

Mr Hollway, I have taken the unprecedented step of posting part of Watermouth's reply to your various complaints regarding your recent visit. As stated in the last email communication with you, there can be nothing further to add but I guess we have to accept that you are now proceeding with your threats to contact all social media, T.V, solicitors, reviews etc. etc. This has been a very difficult year for so many people and businesses throughout the country, just cut the slack for once. The following is taken from Watermouth Cove's response to your complaint:- On the evening to which you refer, at 11 pm a phone call was received, it was a guest on pitch SP16 which is probably equidistant from the wooden pods as your pitch. He requested a visit from Management regarding the noise from a group of people staying in the pods. A member of staff immediately responded and was present at the pods within 10 minutes. The group of guests were very apologetic and ceased the noise immediately. They were of course warned of the consequences should the noise continue. It is not for us to comment on your statement regarding other guests sexual activity. On checking with the guest on SP16 the following morning, we were advised that the noise ceased and I quote “it was just like a lightbulb being turned off”. Similarly the guests involved apologised once again the following morning and were advised that their behaviour would not be tolerated should it happen again. Our staff do attempt to be helpful and friendly to all guests, it is their job. At this stage I find it very difficult to understand why you packed your tent and made ready to leave before speaking with a member of staff or asking to see one of the Management Team. You gave us no chance to help you in any way, we could have offered to move your pitch to another part of the Park, indeed our staff would have assisted the moving process. I also take exception to your comment regarding our attitude to COVID safety. Since the 4th July when we were finally allowed to open we have taken every precaution necessary to comply with the very strict rules this virus has necessitated. Our shower and toilet block has been cleaned and sanitised 3 times per day, involving special cleaning procedures commencing at 6 am every morning. 15 individual hand sanitizers have been installed, placed strategically around the Park. Every pitch with an electric connection has been sprayed and cleaned with the necessary product on every single change of guest. The extra costs for the correct liquids and staff hours required has been phenomenal. Indeed we took the very difficult decision not to open our swimming pool complex simply because we were aware that we would not be able to comply with the requirements and restrictions put in place by the Government. This proved to be a great disappointment to many of our guests but we maintained that safety was paramount. N.B. The reply covers other aspects of Park Life in the present and the attempts to make people's stay comfortable and above all safe. There is nothing further that we can add to an already long and protracted exchange of emails.

Great place to stay. No facilities open due to out of season. Still have access to great walks and private cove. Chalet had everything we needed and was very clean. Sawmills pub a 10 minute walk away - good Sunday lunch. Within a few minutes drive you have access to Ilfracombe and Combe Martin. A great base for exploring the local area.

First visit to this campsite but definately won't be the last. We'll maintained pitches with gravel or grass which you are shown to when arriving. Help availible to pitch up if needed. Facilities modern and very clean. Best bit for us was the private cove where you can do water sports or swim and the lovely harbour with cafe. No issue with jet skiers next door and very little noise on site.

Great campsite with good facilities. Swimming pool bar and cafe. Also activities available to hire. Walking distance to Combe Martin and Ilfracombe ( bit further). Good for dogs, has an enclosed paddock to allow dogs to run free. Also has small costal walk with sea cave. Facilities are clean and tidy. Pitches can be a little uneven but flat enough. Would recommend and come back again.
