What a campsite! Really ticked all the boxes for us.
Managed to get a last minute cancellation and so thankful they fitted us in. It was £26 per night with electric which is very good for peak season.
The pitches are nicely spaced out with nice hedges defining the places. Other campers lovely, friendly and considerate. It is mostly families in August but imagine it's couples out of season. Our children are 4, 3 and a baby, and the older two had a wonderful time playing with the other children, feeding the goats/sheep and playing table tennis. The A pitches are closer to the road but great for access to the new toilet block and easier to see the children while they play. Many of the pitches have fantastic sea views, even some with electric but these would be slightly further to the toilets (still a lot closer than we've been at most sites though). Washing up facilities clean and toilets/showers obviously cleaned frequently. They also had a mop so you can just wipe away the water after use.
We loved the challenging hike to Broadsands. Even on a rainy day it was breathtaking and a very calm spot for wild swimming. It felt much warmer than some of the sea we've been in this summer. We took a picnic as there's literally nothing down there, which makes it so special. The very kind young chap on reception even got us some bread from the shop to save us packing up the campervan (site shop closed during the pandemic). He also let the children feed the goats around 10am, which really made their holiday!
There are visiting food vans. We had food with us but wished we hadn't when we saw the curry. Yummy.
Such a relaxing place to stay for families.
Please don't change anything about this place! It is perfect.

Bringing the kids here was great as I used to come here as a child, the ideal site for peace, quiet And reflection but to also to gain that family time in our modern lives we often forget. Having all the shower facilities also feeling as clean as possible and with the modern toilets and shower block is like home to home. I also used the laundrette whilst staying which had fast cycle washing machine and tumble dryer helped me out knowing I didn’t have to overpack for my 2year old knowing I could just take my laundry detergent and softener. There is also a baby change room with a small bath/large sink for those children who hate showers! overall this site is just what you need for great views and all the amenities required for camping and is within short distance of Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Woolacombe beach.

We just come back from our first family camping trip with 2 primary aged children. No regrets. Well, only in the equipment taken! We arrived a day late and were handed the cash back from the owner for the night we hadn’t shown up for when paying on arrival. Our pitch was huge, as were all others, which was a relief as we had driven past some claustrophobic looking sites on our journey to Devon. The loos and showers were cleaned continuously and the owners have responded to suggestions of squeedgie mops, I have seen left by other reviewers, as each cubicle had one. There was fragrant planting around the site and adherence to Covid hygiene was obvious. Our children made friends and played away from our tent most nights, and after initial hesitation from me I was happy with this as the site felt so safe. The goats and their feeding each morning added a nice distraction for the children and the views on the top of the site were truly breath taking. Thank you to the owners for creating a welcoming and wholesome place for families to stay. I felt we were able to create a little bit of our own childhood on this holiday for our kids to experience - which doesn’t happen very often.

We arrived to the site on a Monday afternoon and went into the reception to check in myself, husband and dog. Nick welcomed us and gave us a choice of 3 different plots for our tent ⛺️ so we drove around and chose our plot which was very large flat and very well kept, we were by a road and a stream but we were fine with this so happy with our choice.
We were close to the new shower blocks which were amazing, each one had a wet room complete with toilet, sink and great power showers. These were always spotless and cleaned almost after each person. There’s a small shop with a few essentials at a good price, tv room, launderette and a washing up area again all clean at all times. We walked to the sawmill pub one evening ( reviewed on trip advisor by me) and whilst there we fancied a pizza which was available that evening in the campsite, unsure of the last order time for the pizza I rang the campsite and nick said call his parents and they’d put an order in for us, nothing was too much trouble.
The campsite was very quiet and we never heard anyone after 10.30
There was a dog 🐶 walking area up a steep field which was worth the walk to the top for the view. We loved watching the goats in their paddocked area and there were lots of wild rabbits 🐇 jumping around the park.
The campsite is close to so many places to visit so a good base.
Overall I cannot find a fault with this campsite and will definitely return.

We spent 3 nights at Watermouth Valley in September...a much needed staycation for both of us and our 2nd trip in our new camper van.

The pitches were large with plenty of room for privacy. Our pitch was towards the top overlooking the sea. I loved looking out for the dolphins but unfortunately didn’t see any this time round, after speaking with our neighbours there was about 20 dolphins visible from the campsite the day before we arrived...Gutted! We’ll definitely be trying our luck next time around! As an early bird I was up before sunrise every morning and there is beautiful little spot with a bench to look out for a sun.

3 separate buildings with multiple showers, toilets and kitchen area, all were ultra clean. There’s also laundry facilities and I believe some freezers available for the guests to use. Toilet blocks are easy to get to - even late at night with the paths lit.
There’s also cafes and pubs with in a short walking distance.

Pizza night on campsite was a great addition and exactly what we needed after the walk down to the beach.

Broadsands beach - lovely and private beach less than 5 min walk away. Be prepared for the steps but it’s worth it...we went down the first afternoon and there was literally no one down there. So peaceful and quiet, pictures just don’t justify it.

Watermouth harbour - again less than 5 min walk. Nice and cosy cafe for a quick coffee stop and some beautiful views if you follow coastal path on the right hand side of the cafe.

Walked to Coombe Martin which was about 3 miles away, very hilly walk but so worth it at the end, and again beautiful views all around.

We planned to visit Ilfracombe on our last day before heading home but as the weather was so nice we decided to walk there and get the bus back. We took a coastal path and oh WOW, there is no words to describe all the amazing views.

Visited Lynton & Lynmouth for a couple of hours on our way home, we will definitely spend more time there next time. Enjoyed browsing through the little shops on the main road and can’t believe we were lucky enough to see wild horses roaming in the fields.

There is so much to see near by and coastal paths are just beautiful way to explore the area. But most importantly this beautiful campsite to come back to, relax by fire in the evenings and have a quite mornings with a cuppa.

Well worth an excellent rating and we can’t wait to come back again!

Love,
Linda & Pete

We have just returned from a 2 night weekend break with our 7yr old boy and 12 year old girl. It was our first stay in this area.

The staff were friendly on arrival and also when we called to see if we could change our allocated pitch to a different one with a bit more space ( C16.) We took our 5meter bell tent and pop up utility tent and had plenty of space there ( with the added bonus of a hedge and fence for some shelter and somewhere to hang the towels). The shop was reasonably priced and supplied us with wood for the fire ( £6) a gas cannister ( £3) and sweets for the kids.

The play area was fabulous for our 7 year old and the pool table, football table and table tennis etc kept our teenage 12 year old entertained. Goats and sheep were also a hit!

We have camped alot and we were so surprised by the quality of the loos and showers ( especially the new ones where you have your own lockable shower room with toilet, sink, mirror and enough room to change) Even the older block were clean and had lovely additions of fresh flowers. It makes such a welcome, thank you!

We made use of the walk to Broadsands Beach which was absolutely stunning, the steps were hard work but we were thankful for the bench at the top for a quick breather.

The only thing that did annoy us a bit was nothing to do with Watermouth Valley Campsite but people bagging up their dog poo and hanging it in the trees. There is a dog poo bin in the dog exercise area just a short walk from the gate and the footpath, or just take it home 🤷‍♀️

Other than that we had a perfect stay and would definitely like to return. Thank you to the staff you were kind to our children in the shop this morning and you obviously work really hard to keep everywhere so clean and tidy!

My father and I stayed at this lovely campsite for 2 night. I am traveling with my father who has dementia and they made it so easy for us by putting us as close to the toilets as possible so he won't get lost. Regarding the facilities they are first class very clean and amazing drench shower. They are the best facilities I have come across on a camp site. It was a very pleasant stay

. My wife and I booked for 10 nights and thankfully as it was end of season/less busy, Nick was able to allow us to stay for an extra 9 nights, It’s in my eyes a really fantastic proper campsite, the owners are all friendly, chatty, helpful and always there if you need them, always with a smile and good morning.

The facilities varying from old to new were all kept clean and tidy, the award for the best dressed cleaner goes to Lisa,😆😆 despite the wedding party going on those toilets and showers were not forgot about in her lovely dress and heels.
There is a games room which is well equipped for kiddy’s to play and have fun along with the outside ping pong tables and badminton. Not forgetting the shop which saved my bacon on more than a few occasion’s. And great utility room for washing up and clothes washing and drying. Also which is fantastic they have recycling bins which for us was very much appreciated especially in these times, Shame not everyone used them though.

The pitches were all a fair good size depending where you go from the bottom fields to partial sea views or to the top field with full sea views. The whole site was well maintained lush cut grass and hedges and natural areas for wildlife.

This campsite is great value for money, there not in it for the money like other sites which charge for trailers, boats, gazebos etc.

Food nights were a great idea and success although we never tried them all they were always busy and you heard from neighbours ohhh this is nice hope they are back next week, I’m off to get another one!

The beach although yes 247 steps down and 247 back up to some is a ball ache and too many steps, but the best things in life are worth working for, and what a reward the secluded little beach gives you when you are down there, I found the beach area very tidy and clean, peaceful and tranquil, managed to have phone signal down there, and was so fresh, clear and cold sea (just the way I like it) It’s a really sweet added extra to the campsite.

The site owners should be proud of their site and all the family that run it, without them all, the site wouldn’t be what it is today.

We ourselves are very thankful to them for our wonderful experience, it’s going to be in our minds for a very long time.

DISSLIKED :
Having to come home from such a wonderful site and holiday.

This campsite is without doubt one of the best campsites I’ve stayed at in years. Family run, friendly, modern facilities, dog friendly, amazing pitches with incredible views out over the sea. Sunsets over nearby Watermouth harbour a short walk away with its award winning cafe in a boat. Nearby Sandy Cove hotel accepts non-residents for very good quality and reasonably priced food and drink. Nice vibe on the campsite, no late night noisy neighbours, pizza night, curry night. Nearby pub.
The jewel in the crown is the nearby Broadsands beach. With 239 steps down to access it it’s not for the faint hearted!
The kids had a great time swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and building barracades in the sand (grit). Managed to haul my 25kg inflatable canoe down and up a couple of times and then had a wonderful time exploring the coves and caves dotted round about. Not at all busy because of the access but nevertheless a popular spot, particularly with book and magazine covers because of its beauty. On the sunny days we had it was like being in the Caribbean or the Amalfi coast, truly stunning. Plenty of wildlife to be spotted including a pair of Merlins.
Site well maintained, clean and well managed. Definitely returning. No question.

We have just returned from a week staying with our family and friends. It's a lovely campsite with excellent access to the coastal path and local amenities, and the view across the local harbour is beautiful in the evening.

The campsite has 3 toilet blocks, the main one is by reception and is individual unisex wet room style. Big queues can build up here as most of the campsite head for this block, as its the newest and most upto date.

The 2nd block is half way up the campsite, and is dated, and could do with a makeover. Saying that, it is regularly cleaned and was kept clean throughout busy times. In fact, the cleaner went in and out all day, and was very friendly.

The third is 2 individual toilets and showers just behind reception, which were housed in sheds. (again, in need of updating and evicting spiders)

There is a large children's playground on site, that gets very busy as is expected. Nice tarmaced spaces in the main campsite for children to cycle and scoot and there is a table tennis /pool area which is well used by all. This seems to be a area that was used by children to congregate in a evening, which was quite noisy until 10.30 when the site mostly went quiet, as campers adhered to the quiet nights! You always get the odd loud group, and this campsite was no exception, but overall - not a huge noise problem overnight.

Pitches are large sized, but very regimented in rows, either side of a tarmaced road, using uncut grass as borders between pitches. There is room for tent and a car on your pitch. Off ground bbq's accepted, but no fires which is a big shame.

Steps down to the beach were broken, and signs were up to say that access was blocked. Obviously everyone ignored this and carried on regardless down to the beach. It is a understatement to say that this is a easy access beach... The steps down are variable in size and depth, and you can take your life in your hands with them. With my dodgy knee, I wouldn't have made it down or back up - but family and friends did and needed a good oxygen supply at the top, along with a good hours rest to recover.

Overall, a nice site with good facilities, and the proximity to beaches and tourist attractions make this a good area!

We stayed last night. And we had one. Several caravans had them. Just the rule of being careful I would think. Although fire extinguishers are around.

I emailed them this question and they responded that they don't usually accept groups but they made an exception for us so long as we were respectful of the other campers. We were a family group with 4 children between the 3 tents. Good luck, I hope they agree as this really is an excellent campsite!

Hi, I don’t know 100% but the owners are very accomodating and as you are families rather than stag parties etc then I would think they would, best to just give them a quick call to find out, we’ll worth asking as it is a beautiful place to stay. Thanks. Dave.
