I think it is only fair to say I paid £31 to stay here one night, mid-week, as we were coming out of Covid restrictions. Therefore, this price may not be representative and may affect your value perceptions! That said, this is a perfectly decent place overall, though, as with any establishment there is bound to be the odd drawback. The White Hart is a pub / hotel set on the main road through Overton village. I don't imagine the road is that busy even in normal times so it is not a great issue, but you can hear it. The pub as rooms in the main building and a separate "stable" building with further rooms. I was in room 9 of the stables so I can't say what the main building is like. So, first the downsides. Because "The Stables" were obviously once stables there are a few issues. Perhaps the most obvious is that the rooms only have quite small windows and, from the outside they are pretty much at or even below head height. The stable block is opposite the main building across the access to the car park. Therefore if you want any privacy you are going to need to keep your curtains drawn, if you want security you are going to have to keep your windows closed but if you want ventilation you are going to have swing them open! In practical terms personally this was not too much of an issue. My room was directly opposite the outside kitchen door, but it was fine to just draw the curtain. You don't get a lot of light through the windows, though the room was not dingy or dark, and it was pretty warm (though it was the warmest day of the year that I was there). Some people however might find this off-putting, understandably. The food in the pub was OK, though I think the pictures accompanying its entry on Tripadvisor are somewhat dated! The menu is a bit bland, the obvious "pub-grub" (fish and chips, burger etc). I had the burger that was perfectly edible it a bit nondescript, and came with a not enormous serving of skin on fries. Seems a bit steep at 15 quid but then I always whinge at the price of pub food (there's an Italian restaurant just up the road that appeared to have better food at comparable prices). Still, if you don't ant to go further than ten feet from your room for din-din then I guess it is fine. "What about the good things?" I hear you cry! Well, the room was well proportioned. A comfortable (firm-ish) double bed, tea and coffee (they never give you enough milk, anywhere!), for once a decent sized TV with a remote that actually works, chairs and table if you need to work and a really nice bathroom with an excellent shower (though I found the shower tray quite slippery). The room was clean and well presented with Covid instructions and so on. Service was good, if not exceptional, food took just a tad longer to arrive than I would deem normal but not a big problem. Staff were friendly and polite. I was able to get a late check-out with no issues and no extra cost. The pub is pleasant and everything looks newish, neat and tidy. Decent sized car park etc. So, overall no complaints. I would always expect cleanliness and good service, which this place delivered, but in other respects, for what I paid, this was a good deal. Even at a higher cost I would still probably recommend it, but if you just want a room for the night I wouldn't pay more than a Premier Inn (then again, I never want to pay more than a Premier Inn!).

Had our first team get together at the Bombay Distillery followed by a wonderful meal at the White Hart. Started with a nice welcome from Francis - we were quickly seated and looked after. We were particularly impressed by the service - nothing was a problem! we have one Dairy Free person and couldn't have felt more included - everything served was tailored for Dairy free where possible and clearly explained WITHOUT making a big deal of it. Another member of the team wanted a drink not on the menu and again just sorted! We had a number of shared platter to start nice quality and nice size portion. We also had steak and moule for main again perfectly served! Overall, very nice to be eating out and have such great service and food - highly recommended!

Just got back from a fabulous night away at the white hart, Overton, the room was fantastic we stayed in the stables, the staff were fabulous and a great evening meal, can’t fault it. The reason for our stay was a trip to the Bombay sapphire distillery, walking distance from this hotel just a 30 minute walk, I would highly recommend this hotel, really good value for money.

We stayed at the B&B and ate in the restaurant in the evening. Check in was smooth, we completed online and when entering was met with a really helpful staff member, didn’t catch his name sadly, who gave us our keys and directions to our room. We had room 1 which was lovely! The room was incredibly clean and smelt lovely with room diffusers. There was an information sheet about the Covid measures and a can of disinfectant spray should we wish to use. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the tea/coffee selections were good with both decaf and normal coffee available plus sweetener which you don’t typically tend to find. I find it difficult to sleep in a different bed but I had a really good nights sleep. The curtains were black out so we weren’t disturbed by the light and despite being at the front of the property and facing the road the noise was very minimal. I did get a bit hot in the night so a fan would have been beneficial. The bathroom was large and spacious and again spotless. The shower was amazing as were the free toiletries, they smelt great. We didn’t use the bath but can only imagine it was luxurious! The only thing I would say about the bathroom is that perhaps a hook to hang your towel on when getting out of the shower would have been beneficial to save you getting the floor all wet but apart from that it was a dream. We decided to eat in the restaurant and pre-booked before our stay. I have to say I think that was one of the best meals out I have had in a very long time. The food was presented beautifully and packed full of flavour. The staff were attentive and catered to every whim. Despite being full we opted for desert as the food was just to good not too! It’s a shame we live so far away as I would 100% come back to eat. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and the Covid measures in place were noticeable but didn’t overshadow the meal or effect the atmosphere. We opted to just have the continental breakfast in the morning as we were still pretty full from the night before. We got down quite late but there was still ample available with a good selection of fruit, bread, pastries and cereal. The staff were again attentive and the filter coffee was great. The car park was on the smaller side and we did get the last space so unsure if really busy if you would be able to park but I did note a car park just up the road as a last resort! We primarily stayed to visit the Bombay Sapphire distillery, with their free bus not running we got the normal bus from just outside the library (opposite the White Heart) and hopped on the 76 which took us the 4 minute journey to Laverstock Mill were we jumped off for the distillery. A single was around £3 so not too bad. We decided to walk back and it took us around 30 minutes. All in all a lovely stay and little getaway for my husband and I. I would thoroughly recommend.
