This is the only option to stay at when walking from Zinal on towards St Niklaus and I think it relies on the fact there is no competition. The hotel itself is a nice historic building and the rooms are a good size with character to them. We had a very comfortable double bed with a sink in our room...

We were hiking the Haute Route and this hotel was the only one available in Gruben. It was fantastic! We connected with other hikers we had met along the way. Food was delicious. The service was so personable and kind. They offered extra helpings. We are senior and affluent travelers. We have been "around the block" ...this was wonderful! We...

We spent the night here while doing the Haute Route this July. Initially we had reservation for dormitories. I was shocked to see 15 mattresses cramped in the attic with no space even for your bag at 45chf/night. I immediately changed for a double room. At 140chf it only has a sink and shared bathroom and no balcony. Is not...

Unfriendly owner from the start. Which sells you a room with no balcony, little light and shower/wc on the floor for 140chf. On top one bed was broken. Upon questions we werd kicked out at 10pm. Sole reason they survive is the great location they are. Hopefully they get some competition in upper Turtmanntal!

We stopped here one night during a hiking trip on the Haute Route. We had a very odd room with an antiquated kitchen with sink, bathroom down the hall, which was shared with others. Not everyone who used the bathroom was from our floor, which was a bit unfair. The bed was clean, there is no wifi in the rooms...

“Honestly, if you are going at a busy time of year, I suggest you book a double room and not a dorm, unless you like being squashed in with 8 other strangers.”
