Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely property in an ideal situation right on the Nantes to Brest canal. Rob and Emma are a welcoming couple who couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was superb and plentiful. Rooms are clean and bright. We were two couples cycling around Brittany and Rob was so helpful and had plenty of advice for where we could visit locally.

What an amazing place to stay and Emma & Rob are fantastics hosts ! We stayed for 10 days and saw first hand how Emma & Rob do all they can to cater for everyones needs, happy to advise or help out in whatever capacity they can. There if you want them and happy to leave you to your own devices if you equally prefer - they have manage to strike the best balance for each guest ! Embracing a Bretton lifestyle whilst adding their own individual touches - they ensure everyone who stays has the experience they came for. The facilities are great, the pool is devine !! And the rooms are beautifully decorated. There is plenty to see and do in the area and a lovely way to experience an authentic french lifestyle. If you like to cycle - then even better !!! We explored lakes, beaches, valley of saints, Carnac, Vannes, Concarneau to Crêperies on the side on the road and so much more.

My partner and I spent 4 nights here. The B&B is in a lovely quiet setting right by the canal and has excellent facilities for cycling. We were able to store our bikes securely in a covered bike shed. There is also an indoor pool which was great to relax in after a day out riding. The room was nicely decorated and spacious. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and made our stay most pleasant. We will definitely be coming back!

Stayed for 5 nights at the Maison du Canal and enjoyed it immensely. John and Hilary were ideal hosts - very welcoming, friendly and informative. The location, close to Rostrenen and right on the Nantes to Brest canal was very peaceful and provided a lovely walk (or cycle) if you were that way inclined. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean with a nice view of the canal. Breakfast was well catered for (continental style) and I'm sure if you asked John for a few rashers and sausages he would have managed it - such was his readiness to please. Would we recommend Maison du Canal to friends - YES Would we stay again - DEFINITELY

The hotel was difficult to find due to the many road works being carried out. Once there, owner John welcomed us and showed us a nice room on the top floor that was quiet with a countryside view. Breakfast is a communal affair around the one table that might not be everybody’s cup of tea. There was a good spread but coffee could be better.

As the name suggests this place is right on the banks of the canal Nantes a Brest, and it offers a really warm welcome, comfortable rooms and an optional three course dinner with wine. We had one night here and I would recommend it as a stop off in Brittany, maybe before catching the ferry at Roscoff or while walking the canal. John and Hilary are very welcoming and friendly and we had our evening meal with the three other guests and our hosts and it was a very enjoyable evening. Breakfast is plentiful and continental in style. It is easy to find just outside Rostrenon, a few minutes off the main east/west road.

Stayed here whilst cycling the velodyssey, we did a there and back trip so stayed twice. John and Hilary made us really welcome, hose to clean bikes off, safe inside storage for bikes. They let us use the washing line, useful when you are travelling light clothes wise, they even sold us rolls for our lunch next day as it was a bank holiday and all the shops were shut. The rooms and the evening meal were great. House is next to canal but about 2 miles from town, so being catered for in the evening meant not getting back on bikes to go and eat out.

Great B&B situated on the canal in glorious surroundings. I attended a wedding here and it was absolutely fantastic. The owners were very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure all the guests were happy and catered for. The B&B has been refurbished to an excellent standard, with all the facilities you could want. The owners are from England, which was a relief, as my French is very rusty! I cannot fault this place for it's friendliness, facilities, space and surroundings. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit the Rostrenen area.

Stayed here for two nights in August 2013. This is a top-end high quality B&B that has been recently extensively refurbished to a very high standard throughout. Set in a very picturesque location by the canal in its own lovely gardens and only a couple of miles from the charming town of Rostrenen. The owners, John and Hilary, are a lovely couple from England and can’t do enough for you. Thoroughly recommend this B&B and would very happily stay here again if ever visiting this beautiful part of France.
