Playgrounds Wave Lodge has undergone a renovation, refurbishment and re-opened in June 2017. We think it's best not to take any of the reviews into consideration prior to this time when making your decision to come and stay with us! Playgrounds is an iconic accommodation spot on Lembongan. We've made a few changes to the property and to the rooms to enhance the guest experience for comfort and enjoyment.

Dear Tali, Sorry to read your stay was disappointing and for us our primary concern is for the well being of any guest and the enjoyment during your stay. It’s unfortunate for anyone to become sick whilst on holidays and our staff do their best to accommodate anyone in need of assistance. Most people when traveling to Bali know that becoming sick can be caused by various things. The heat, water from taps cannot be consumed, poor personal hygiene and various forms of bacteria can be contracted not only by eating, but can be passed on from a hand rail getting onto a boat, or touching a motorbike handle. Not to mention illnesses that can be picked up on planes carrying hundreds of passengers. It’s unfortunate in hospitality and a shame guests may blame the food eaten for an illness without seeking advice from a doctor. A doctor was declined in this instance and to know the true cause of any illness is to visit a doctor to narrow down the cause and to get the right treatment. As explained in person, our team is HACCP trained and follow strict cleaning and hygiene procedures in our kitchen. We personally contacted our repeat guests who consumed items on the same day and fortunately no illness. Every day our procedures in place are there to prevent any contamination and prevent any unhygienic methods. We have read that you mentioned your whole family was sick but if we recall correctly this was not the case and your daughter was not sick and glad to know she was still well and enjoying the pool. Our staff assisted you late into the evening with extra beverages to rehydrate and one of our managers kindly cleaned up the vomit left on the floor, which with no hesitation any of our staff would do and still knowing there is a risk for them and their health to possibly pick up any bad bacteria. As a gesture of good faith and as concerned staff, our team provided you with more beverages the following day to assist with dehydration and extra breakfast items. In addition, the balance of your food bill was complimentary. It is not correct we charged you for your food. We have kindly provided you with numerous items, complimentary and extras to assist with a speedy recovery. We felt to compensate your accommodation charges and your snorkeling trip which was booked by yourself directly with a third party that was non refundable was not a reasonable form of compensation. We are sorry you were not satisfied with your compensation, but we’re happy there was nothing wrong with the room which you enjoyed. If any error has been made at anytime during your stay and it is a true fact, we have no hesitation making this up to any guest with our apologies. We were confused with the 10+ food/drink items ordered for breakfast and lunch the following day. Naturally we thought people would avoid the food from any restaurant that made them ill, but glad you were able to make a speedy recovery and restored faith in our food and restaurant the next day. Hopefully you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Bali before your long flight back home.

Had a wonderful stay here. The location, the views, the restaurant and the staff all met our expectations. Would recommend highly and will definitely return. Sitting on the balcony or in the restaurant, the views are just spectacular.

Thanks so much for your prompt answer. Our trip probably won't be until November 2020 so I will most likely be in touch at a later date.

Hi surfers73, Definitely the Superior Room Upper Level would be the best choice for your family. This room type has a very spacious 23sqm balcony and with unbeatable views of the ocean, surf breaks and Mt Agung on a clear day. With queen + bunk bed there is enough beds for everyone. We would be happy to assist to book your boat transfers for you and our staff can help to bring up any bags or boards from the beach. We are only a short couple of minutes walk away. September does fill up quickly with Australian school holidays so please contact us direct for a discounted accommodation + transfer package!

Hi Tracey, Thanks for the question and the answer if yes we are family orientated! For a family friendly room, we have the Superior Rooms which has 1 x queen + 1 bunk. There is the option of the upper or lower level, the upper having the most extensive view of the ocean and super large balcony. In our restaurant, we have a child friendly menu with the usual favorites and some healthy options too! You can order this for room service, poolside or dine in. There are many other dining options next door, such as The Deck cafe and bar and local warungs also a 30 second walk away for snacks. For surfers, we are in the most ideal location as you can see every surf break from your patio, balcony, restaurant, or from our reception area. A couple of minutes walk away is Coconuts beach where you can paddle out to Playgrounds, Lembongan's most famous wave. Hope this helps! Please contact us again if there's anything else we can help with.

"If I had very small children I would consider a room on the lower level as the glass on the balcony really isn't to be leant on."
"Naturally the higher you get the more you see - but honestly the lower level rooms have incredible views too!"
"Room on upper floor has an excellent view and not many stairs to get to it.. (There are many more stairs to get to top of the hill . )"
"All rooms have stunning views, but the upper level rooms have glass-fronted balconies."
"Upper rooms for certain!!"
