We had a last minute 2* caravan booking for 3 nights after seeing the caravan park on a BBC documentary. We were handed our keys by an unhappy looking woman behind reception, then given directions. Our caravan wasn't numbered but we managed to find out which one we were staying in. The size of the caravan was ideal for the two of us with a beautiful view overlooking the Forth with Edinburgh on the horizon, but unfortunately, we saw two dead flies on the mini shelf between the sofa and the main bay window. Besides from that, finding a felt tip pen down the side of the sofa, and a sweet under the main bed, the caravan was spotless. The welcome pack that included washing up liquid, sponge, and a tea towel was a nice touch.

We was disappointed to find that the on site shop wasn't open during our stay, which meant a lovely 20 minute walk into Kinghorn. Reception looked tired and empty but I believe that it may be going through a revamp. We weren't interested in the swimming pool, but that seemed full by other patrons. A gander around the amusements was just that. Either games and pool tables were out of order, or not working properly. Pool cues was damaged and staff on the swimming pool reception just wasn't bothered as I got passed from one to another when asking for advice.

The food in the restaurant was really nice, the curry of the day was different to what was advertised, but that's just a nitpick. The main menu was well priced and the main had a very generous and tasty. The restaurant staff were very busy, but also very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was nice, but pricey for what it was. The coffee that I ordered came out with the toast about 5 minutes after our food, but still nice enough. The head chef James should be proud of his food and his staff.

Overall, we wouldn't come back which is a shame because we really wanted to like the place. However, if we are ever in the area again, we'd definitely eat at the restaurant.

We were not staying at Pettycur Bay, but we has paid to use the swimming pool.
We called the night before and booked in which was no problem at all. I booked for myself my husband and my 4mnth old.
On arrival there was no issue, we paid and we went through to the changing facilities.

The changing area was dirty. The floor had rubbish on in it every cubicle. There was only one family changing cubicle which was being used so we had to use a changing table in the main changing facility to get my wee one ready.

The pool area itself was warm and clean, with shower facilities before you entered the pool.

There were seating areas around the pool that you could sit at. (several non-swimmers were sitting here)

You were allowed 45mins or so we were told due to current guidelines but unsure how they were monitoring this as there seemed to be kids in longer than this (overheard conversation)

When leaving to get ready the family cubicle was empty for us to use and it was the worst cubicle of them all. The nappy bin had not been emptied in a very long time as the bin was overflowing and there was used nappies lying on the floor beside this along with other rubbish.

On leaving I mentioned to the attendent at the front desk who to be honest was one not surprised I thought the changing rooms could do with a good clean and two didn't seem to care.

I would have thought now more than ever due to COVID that they would have been keeping the area cleaned and fresh.

I am glad I was not a staying guest at the site as I would have put a formal complaint in about the hygiene of the pool area.

Sadly we would not return after our first and only visit.

Tried for 5* not available but 5*executive for another £60 making the booking fee for the week £604. On arrival we find access to pool is £4.50 for 40 mins, snooker £6 soft play area £3.50. This information is not on the website. We had no WiFi in the caravan and there were no instructions regarding the heating/air con. No toaster, hairdryer iron not even a sweeping brush. The mattress protectors on the single beds were disintegrating and did not look clean.
The reception area was very unwelcoming and the receptionist who was on duty when we booked out early from our stay was rather rude pointing out that there is nothing for nothing in this world and writing a review on trip advisor was a cowardly thing to do. It seems as we are of the older generation we can't understand the nothing for nothing concept.

Firstly I am so glad that I didn't read some of the reviews before we booked as we clearly stayed somewhere different as I very little if anything to complain about.
Basically having had to cancel our Malta trip at short notice due to the quarantine restrictions on return we still were in need of a break but at such short notice most places were full or ridiculously expensive.
In the end I resorted to looking on Google Maps, but not knowing this little bit of Fife as well as the rest of it had a look at the pics and enquired, pleasantly surprised at the prices in comparison to other places and that they had availability too.
Looking at the different standards of caravans we went for a 4* as the website showed a floor plan which included a second WC, always handy as we had both our older children with us and proceeded to book and a very good price too.
On arrival staff very friendly, and loved the elevated position of most of the caravans giving wonderful views out across the Forth.
At our caravan as expected very contemporary and looked very comfortable but only had the one WC so I checked with staff given the website description and we were moved to a 5* caravan slightly further along, all I can say is wow, furniture and fittings to a very high standard and so comfortable and an even better view.
I struggle to fault it especially as we gained a second bathroom in the move.
We had an issue with the fridge which was iced up when we arrived and then leaked all over the floor, however when reported it was promptly dealt with.
The kitchen has the essentials in terms of crockery and cutlery etc but if you are used to self catering cottages etc you don't get the same range of other items, e.g. cafetiere, which was fine for us and nothing major.
There was remedial work going on nearby due to the couple of landslips which occurred earlier in the month so had some heavy machinery coming and going but it was clearly essential work that needed to be done.
It was a shame that the pool had gym weren't open but understandable given the covid restrictions.
Having had a drive over to Leven which I already know, Pettycur is definitely the superior site.
Not being a seasoned static caravan user this really was a pleasant surprise and lovely short break and we will definitely return.

Where to start.. I had booked a room for Friday night as it was my sisters wedding on Friday. My partner called to ask about an early check-in but was told no even after explaining he was attending the wedding with myself also my partner ended up calling them to raise a complaint as we were asked to pay a deposit of 100 pounds for the room that we wouldn't get back until 3 to 5 working days so I thankfully had booked through booking. Com and just cancelled the room. The day before the wedding my dad had asked if I was staying and I told him no we were just going to get a taxi home as it will be cheaper anyway my dad insisted I try book a room if ones available and he was going to pay for it so I went to reception and asked if there was a room available and there was so I gave the woman Irene my details and she then asked me if I had stayed there before and I said no she said are you sure as ur name has been blacklisted I said I originally had a room booked with yourselves but cancelled she said and did u speak to a member of staff on the phone I said no but my partner did she then Said he was rude and offensive to staff and that had been escalated to management now I know for a fact that my partner was never offensive or rude as I was there when he rang he only expressed his opinion on the fact that we were having to make a deposit of 100 pound and he didn't agree with it he asked the member of staff to put his complaint to management and instead she has made a complaint about him bloody ridiculous!. There was also a Quiz at my sisters wedding which my team one so they said the prize is a round of free drinks so this morning you can understand my sisters non amusement when she was told she was due 43 pound for the round of drinks. Thankfully my sister had a great wedding and that's what matters most but to sum up the customer service at pettycur Bay is terrible to say the least not impressed at all and as for being blacklisted I now could not give a Toss as I won't be stepping foot in there again anyway!

Booked 2 5 star executive caravans for a family Easter break , we arrived and we were greeted on reception by the most ignorant ,unhelpful , rude woman we have ever had the Misfortune to meet , goes by the name of Jan , altho as none of them wear name badges u won’t know !
She didn't give us as much us a hello or a smile , just barked at us that the caravans were not ready and we would just have to wait ! This woman is in some need of some serious customer service training , her attitude towards people ,who have paid good money to come here , is just appalling and I’ve never known anything like it !!

When we were eventually given the keys to the supposed 5 star executive caravans , we couldn’t actually believe our eyes ! The famous sea-view is actually a view of the hotel reception and bedrooms , the leisure complex back wall and smoking area , with a few gas canisters and some bins Thrown in for good measure !?? The wood decking , if u can call it that , around the caravans is a serious health and safety issue, it’s badly warped , full of holes with bits missing and crumbling steps. There is NO Ensuite in the main bedroom , even tho they advertise it as having one !? No electric Kettle , and no iron.

We went Back to the reception to Complain and were met again by Jan with a hostile take it or leave it attitude !? … this is when it came to light that only rows 1-3 are rentals and the rest of the site is owners with all the good views . We Now know why it was only owners who were featured in the bbc programme !?

The family Management couldn’t care less ! The fact they have never replied to All the negative reviews on here says it all. They just don’t care and so not want to take on any customer feedback and certainly don’t want ton spend any money making improvements to this place , which trust me are badly needed . We have travelled to many caravan sites around the uk over the years and this is by far the worst we have ever stayed in !! If you come here you will be sorely disappointed .. Avoid at all costs !

Stayed Monday to Friday. Booked a 4 star, 2 bedroom caravan and we were delighted with what we were given. The view was amazing. The caravan had everything we needed, including an ensuite in the double bedroom. The only down size is the same issue with most caravans i.e. the twin bedroom's beds are narrow and not very long. This is OK if you have 2 children but not so good if 2 adults need to use this room. There was a complimentary small bottle of white wine and a small bottle of red left on the worktop which I thought was a nice touch. There was also a little box on the worktop which had a small bottle of washing-up liquid, a dish sponge, a J-cloth, a spare black bin bag and a tea towel, which was also a nice touch. We ate in the Horizon restaurant most nights. The food was delicious and good sized portions. The staff were friendly and attentive. We didn't use any of the other facilities so I can't comment on them and entertainment is only on at the weekend so I can't comment on that either. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

Quite stunned when I read some of the reviews on here all I can say is I have just returned from a long weekend and thought it was great.
Caravan was very clean and apart from having an old fashioned kettle (No toaster but there is a grill) I had no complaints about it. Quite a large area for cooking.
Sitting area consisted of 1 corner couch and 1 easy chair, easily sat 4 adults.
Large French windows lead out to a balcony, although quite small it was still suitable enough.
We had 2 bedrooms, 2 x single beds and 1 double. The double had it's own toilet and there was a shared toilet and shower. I reckon if your shower was too hot or too cold (As per a previous review) then you just hadn't worked out the heating as mine was a perfect temperature and the shower has a very powerful stream.

We didn't go to the entertainment so can't comment on that but we did eat there and had drinks in the main bar area. Food was OK, it's what you would expect from a caravan park - Fish and chips, Burger, Curry, Chicken. More than enough choice.

Again, seen comments about the staff but everyone we met was very friendly. Jill in the main bar area in particular was very helpful and pleasant.

Didn't visit the pool, seems quite small but again you're in a caravan park. Probably more than ample for parents with children, certainly the kids i saw in there all looked happy enough.

There is a small games area with some video machines a couple of snooker tables and a few pool tables.

Views are exceptional and for that alone it is worth a visit. A short walk to either Kinghorn or Burntisland along a road with a wide pavement.

I would definitely go back there again.

I recently stayed in a caravan at 56 Elder Lane from Friday the 21st to Monday the 24th of January. I paid for a 5 star exec caravan (£379) after viewing the pictures advertising the 5 star exec caravans online.

The one we stayed in was actually being advertised as a 5 star caravan and would have cost £349 for the duration of stay.

After contacting the caravan site office I've been told that the caravan I stayed in and paid for is a 5 star executive even though it's not advertised as being one online. I was told that the pictures online are just a representation of their caravans and the one I stayed in was in fact a 5 star executive, even though the pictures online of the 5 star stenhouse caravans do not advertise this. I think this is very misleading.

I'm really disappointed that I was misled and I didn't get what I paid for. What was advertised online as a 5 star exec and what I got was totally different. Looking at the pictures online had influenced my decision in the first place and I decided to pay extra for the better caravan. Since reading other online reviews I now see I'm not alone and this has happened to many others.

Out on a drive yesterday and on way home popped onto resturant for some snacks/drink.all that was missing was basil fawlty and Manuel. A disorganised shambles. Ordered a tea, cappuccino, coke, Southern fried chicken and scone with clotted cream and jam.order arrived without drinks to be told my order given only ten mins previous had got lost .my daughter had no cutlery. The scone had no clotted cream or jam just butter. Asked for missing items to be given clotted cream but no jam and gave up as customers are clearly a pest! The tea and cappuccino arrived about five mins later still minus the coke. Again I queried that to then have an empty and frankly filthy glass brought to the table - quite possibly most bizarre thing I have ever witnessed in a restaurant. An absolutely overpriced shambles avoid at all costs .
