Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely overnight stay. Warm welcome. Great room. Delicious breakfast. Easy parking. Played pool in the bar in the evening. Close to John O Groats and Dunnet Head. Short drive to ferry for Orkney. Attached pics of room and Dunnet Head.

On my second visit to NSH, (first time solo, whale watching). This time on my wedding anniversary, could not recommend the hotel highly enough. Pre-ordered flowers and the Staff left them in water in our room, all the staff were excellent. Will definetly be back 😀

Well appointed hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Bedroom was clean and modern with tea/coffee facilities. Pillows were a little hard for me but everything else was top rate. Dinner was excellent. Beautifully presented and cooked. Breakfast was just as good as dinner, lovely and hot with a great selection.

Visited here for the second time while travelling NC500 . Previously stated two years ago on way to Orkney & alwys wanted to come back . 5/5 all round - fantastic hotel . Newly renovated to high standard but what really makes hotel is the staff ALL of whom were fantastic - we arrived 2pm not expecting room to be ready but were immediately shown to our room which modern & immaculate & very large. We then had a few drinks in the bar & spent a few hours chatting with locals , tourists & staff. The food & service was absolutely first class - we had a bar meal at night & a lovely breakfast the next morning . Best bar meal & breakfast we have had for years. & it was 5 star service - if only every hotel was like this. The hotel is beside the village & Dunnet Beach - definitely worth a visit . Well done to the owners & staff for a quality hotel which caters for both tourists & locals with lovely staff . Most importantly prices are reasonable for NC500 route ( unlike some other hotel groups). We will be back - loved it . P.s please open a hotel like this in inverness !

Great location by the water; everything clean; breakfast was nice; clearly the staff was overworked but everyone was nice; only disappointment was the bed - we were told we'd get a king but was only a double. My 6'2" husband was cramped.

Thank you for the review, I'm sorry you were disappointed with the bed. All of our 'double' rooms contain King sized beds. If you stay again, please let us know on booking and we will ensure you stay in a Super-King which would be more suitable.

A lovely spacious room and bathroom, immaculate throughout. Food was top-notch and very generous portions. Staff were welcoming and attentive, it was a very relaxing place to stay. The hotel has obviously been refurbished recently but this has been done very tastefully. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay and would definitely go back again, thank you.

Last minute decision to stay over instead of a day trip...we've stayed before and enjoyed it just as much as before. Lovely friendly staff, genuine interest in our reason for staying (30th Anniversary of local attraction being open). Super room, fab shower, excellent dinner and super breakfast...I actually don't mind the pre order but do wish it was a coffee pot or self service so I could get another coffee. Very pleased to see that the kippers now come with a poached egg...something we mentioned last time.
