Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful hotel. Lovely imposing building with onsite parking. We had a family room & were pleased to note that a proper single bed (rather than camp bed/ sofa bed) had been set up for our teenage daughter. We walked into town in the evening- 10 mins most. (Great Italian btw) The room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the young girl serving exceptional. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone considering a stay.

A beautiful small privately run hotel. Rooms were amazing. We stayed in room 2 (wisteria) overlooking the garden. The room was fabulous. Bed comfortable and room beautifully decorated. Amenities included robes, toiletries, tea and coffee facilities with nice coffee. Water, biscuits and chocolates included. Not only a hair dryer but also straighteners and a hot brush. I have naturally curly hair so didn't need them, but impressed with the selection. Breakfast was fantastic with a good choice on the menu. The staff were lovely, professional, friendly and helpful. We will definitely return here if we return to Axminster.

This small hotel in Axminster is ideally placed for getting easily to places of interest on the Jurassic coast. It offers a lovely base in a Victorian house. Fiona gave an excellent breakfast with lots of choice and great service. Our room was at the top of the house with a large shower room and lots of toiletries, it was very comfortable. There is parking on site which is always a good point when booking accommodation.

Kerrington House is a delight. Fiona was very welcoming, and a lovely host. The room was nice and airy and very clean. The inclusive breakfast was delicious with a wide choice of options from continental to full English. Would definitely stay here again.

Conveniently located close to Lyme Regis with parking space for guests. Close to local amenities (shops & restaurants). Wonderful spacious room and bathroom. Amazing and very complete breakfast option included. Wonderful owner and staff. Didn't see any places nearly as appealing in the region and after the visit I doubt there's anything that would match the stay.

1. The reception is only open for 4 hours (4-8pm) unless you pay £40. We wanted to leave our bags around 1pm before the wedding and the only way is to pay £40 for the host to come to the House. 2. Their "single bed" is actually a folded sofa bed, which was way too old and you could feel the strings underneath. Their double bed is way too soft to the point it hurts your back. 3. Breakfast had many options to choose but very blend taste. 4. The worst thing was how passive-aggressive the Host was. When one of us forgot to order an egg for breakfast and tried to add it, the Host was triple-checked with a poor girl working there to make sure that it was our fault that we forgot to order. It really made us feel uncomfortable.

Thank you Fiona for making our stay so good. Everything you could need in the room, all toiletries, hairdryer, straighteners and curling tongs, bath robes. A very good choice at Breakfast in the morning served by very charming, polite young girls. Would definitely recommend.

A B&B that reminds one of a Blackpool B&B from the 90s, on arrival it appeared their had been a mishap of 3 persons instead of 2 staying under the booking nonetheless the owner was dazzled and effectively of a stay of 3 nights was more concerned about it being non refundable and "can't do nothing", she really was not offering a solution, being gracious as one is, until I suggested having checked on booking.com in front of her she had a 3 person room available and thus "I" suggested ( why did she not suggest this?) we will stay 2 nights and this giving her a surplus of £39 paid, shocked I had to find a solution for this. WiFi did not work at all during our stay when told the lady said Tech guy would get on it still didn't work as Techie couldn't come but we were lucky we had limited hotspotting data on my phone. Location is good property can't comment on other rooms and I suppose she done up a "few" rooms the one we had I must admit we own HMOs that are far more modern than this with better facilities. Service was OK don't know why everyone raves about the Service from this lady as in the 1st instance it was almost as if she could not be bothered, breakfast is very limited and average, furthermore don't leave anything here by mistake as although paying £39 extra to her for the lesser nights, her rebuttal to NOT sending sandals left by my wife to a birmingham address was she gets addresses wrong and puts the phone down, not professional and before one judges my partners a surgeon of course she's been flabbergasted by the whole experience. Nonetheless I will get those collected and send my DX courier through to get it on my expense.

We were down on the south coast for the weekend and decided to stay over on the sunday evening. Credit to Mrs Moose for finding this gem. There was a warm welcome from the host and this is a good location for exploring the coastline. The bed was comfy, the bathroom large. Although the room wasn't especially large, the presence of two very comfortable chairs was welcomed. I sat in the garden enjoying some late afternoon sunshine. Breakfast was lovely - all freshly cooked. Mrs Moose went for a poached egg on toast (you really nailed the poached egg!) while I had the full english - definitely a place to recommend.

Spent a week in The Porters Lodge at Kerrington House Hotel, Axmouth. Our accomodation was great, the sitting room was very spacious with a good amount of comfy chairs. Wide screen TV. Patio doors leading out to garden, with a table and chairs. The kitchen was well equipped, with a cooker, fridge and a dishwasher, toaster and microwave. Really nice touch with the dressing gowns in the bathroom. Fiona was a most lovely host we would certainly stay at The Porters Lodge again. Fiona's dog Beatrice is a lovely cuddly Newfoundland. So easy to get to Weymouth, Lyme Regis and the coast.
