Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a lovely place, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were so friendly and accommodating and the food was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for Kirsty, she completed our stay. We loved it here and will be returning.

Saved us after a treacherous night camping and a blow away tent. Leoni and her team were lovely and made it seem no bother to take us in and make sure we were safe for the night. The generosity was beyond kind allowing us a free night's stay! Thank you so much, its nice to know kindness is still out there in the world! Clean and lovely rooms too! Xxx

My family and I have been dining here at this pub for a few months now and it never fails to please! It’s got such a lovely vibe to the place, delicious food, very friendly staff and versatile nights out with the family. We especially love the quiz nights!

We went to the Lugger on the 1 February, a Wednesday for lunch. It was bitterly cold in there, and whilst the owner tried to light the wood burner, it just didn't want to know. Also to add insult to injury, he kept opening the door to try and get more draught in, which didn't help. We were three pensioners, aged, 85, 78 and 77. The food was really good, but when I got home I was reading the local newsletter "Contact" and what did I see, an advertisement for the Lugger saying that a discount for the over 60's is available on Tuesday to Thursday lunchtimes. Out bill came to £82.00 but no discount was offered. We were booked in at 12.30.

Took mother and the family for lunch and it was absolutely excellent! My ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and one of the best tasting I’ve had. That coupled with the chips, mushroom and onion rings made it a great all round meal. My daughter loved the peri peri chicken. All the rest enjoyed their meals that were all well presented and service excellent. The kids even got a selection box to go home with.

Visited on two occasions this month, opting for the Christmas menu. Food was absolutely amazing! Both times dishes were well presented, delicious and the atmosphere welcoming and warm. Service was efficient and friendly. Many thanks to Liam and his team.

Fantastic meal! All the family loved it, staff were amazing and couldn't do enough. Great relaxed atmosphere, all left clean plates and we were fighting over my daughters leftover burger. Great food, great people, great value ♥️

Street food night at the lugger! Cannot wait for them to this again. Stunningly good food. Highly recommended! Couldn't be better. Singapore was a favourite. Greek fab but messy. Paella lovely. Mexico, America and UK all great. Morroco lovely flavour, medium spice level. Definitely returning for this.

Contrary to a previous review, the Lugger Inn is certainly not 'awful'. Far from it. The previous owners were charming but the pub had suffered from a total lack of investment over a good number of years. Today, the totally refurbished Lugger Inn provides a breath of fresh air to the village. Prices are certainly very reasonable and probably not as expensive as others in the vicinity, which often believe loading the plate to capacity is a sign of quality! The varied menu and range of drinks offered is more than enough for a pub to offer its clientele. Let's put this pub into some perspective. It's now a pub that attracts customers, who return and extol its virtues. And that's primarily because of its food, drink, entertainment and very friendly ambience. It has replaced a tired, run down empty void and the current owner and very friendly staff have worked tirelessly to raise the standard to an excellent level. It's more of an asset to the village than some of the trolls who populate this site and would wish for a return to the 'good old days'. A highly recommended venue and dog-friendly too!.
