Went for an evening meal at The Ship and have to say I was very impressed with our meal. I had the sea bream and shrimps which was so tasty and the fish was cooked to perfection. My partner had the Dahl and that too was spot on. The whole menu was lovely and it was quite hard to chose as it all sounded so appetising.
The duty manager, a dark haired gentleman, was very welcoming, professional and friendly and the waitress who looked after us made our visit very relaxing, she was attentive and friendly but not in your face.
I haven’t been to the ship for a few months and I have to say it is a vast improvement from my previous visits. The place is spotless, tables cleared of plates and glasses immediately, staff very attentive and welcoming well worth another visit and would highly recommend it. Thank you

Visited The Ship for a little night away
And well ... it was just perfect!
Great location with amazing views!
Rooms very clean with everything you need i.e tea and coffee etc. hairdryer, fan and heater and if you asked at reception they gave you a iron. Bed fairly comfy.
All the staff following all covid rules like masks and plenty of hand santizing stations around the pub and upstairs and Staff cleaning constantly which put us as ease.
The Food was fantastic we ate here for evening meal couldn’t fault any of the meals we had they came in a timely manner and table Service was good staff friendly and attentive.
Breakfast in the morning really good with lots of choice! We had full English!! Great coffee.
Would defiantly return here as it’s really good value for money. £85 for the night bed and breakfast.
Thanks for a lovely little night away ☺️

Cannot fault the place. Called up to book direct for a Friday night for me and the Mrs. Offered us one of the best rooms they had for £100 bed breakfast evening meal deal, which gave £50 of food.
Bar was great, lovely atmosphere, great local beers for me, great gin selection. Food was good, and staff were lovely.
Would head back there tomorrow.
Well done the ship in difficult times. 👍

Usually the food is first class. Today, two of our party had fish and chips which were just horrible. There was a ton of batter on the fish which was so overcooked is was burnt. Worse still, there was hardly any fish inside and what was there was dry (probably because it was so overcooked). Couldn't eat it. The service was poor and trying to get the attention of staff was very difficult. Some of the order didn't even arrive yet was on the bill. Paid up and left. Real pity because on a good day the Ship could be the best for miles.

This was our second time staying at The Ship and yet again the stay was outstanding! Our room (32) was on the smaller side but the bed was really comfy, the bathroom was very clean and a good size and although the room is at the side of the building we did have a decent view of the beautiful scenery.

We didn’t eat in the restaurant for lunch or dinner but did have a full English breakfast both morning which was delicious and excellent quality.

The hotel had a refresh since the last time we stayed and was impressed with how beautiful it was while still keeping some of the charm of the original building.

What made the stay even better was the service - everyone was extremely friendly and warm and felt they all went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

One thing to note is that there are a lot of stairs so might not be the best place to stay if you have limited mobility.

We stayed in the superior room with a view of the River Dee. The room was large, had a comfortable bed, tea/coffee making facilities, clean and a fantastic view.
There is hand sanitiser everywhere and the staff are cleaning all of the time which put us at ease. The staff could not do enough for us.
We had a meal in the evening which was nothing short of superb along with a delicious comprehensive breakfast in the morning. This was all for £130 for the night including breakfast and 2 course dinner.
A relaxing stay which I would highly recommend.

We have eaten many times at The Ship in Parkgate including Sunday lunches and New Years Eve last year. So we booked again this year and once more enjoyed good food with friendly attentive staff. The New Years menu was £59.95 per person and you had a choice of 4 starters, 2 intermediate, 4 mains and 4 sweets which you had to pre order when you put your deposit down at the time of booking. All the courses were good but I especially enjoyed the fillet steak which was in the “Surf and turf” and had garlic, chilli and lime tiger prawns with southern creole and shrimp sauce and roast pearl potatoes . Our waitress Sahra looked after us well and we really enjoyed our evening

Just back from a 1 night stay for husband's birthday and we had a great time. The hotel is newly refurbished and is wonderful. We paid £95 for a standard room, which was spacious, beautifully clean and so comfortable.
The pub now has a fabulous upper deck and we enjoyed a couple of pre-dinner drinks watching the sun set.
We ate in the pub/restaurant in the evening, which had a good selection of dishes for a Sunday. The food & service was great - husband had the roast pork dinner and I had the venison shepherd's pie. The wine selection is good and prices reasonable.
The refurbishment has been done to a very high standard and this standard carries on through to the decor, food and service.
The staff are charming, thank you to all of them. We will be back.

Room Tip: Parking is behind the hotel and is free. Get yourself a spot on the deck - it's heated too.

We revisited The Ship for the first time since the refurbishment, it looks great and has a lot more tables.

Lots of space and very open, but still kept the old Ship vibe.

However, all the new staff need some more training/ supervision. We were seated then ordered drinks, we waited 15 mins for the drinks. At the end of the starters we ordered another drink but again waited 15 mins, our food arrived and was nearly finished, we stopped eating as we needed a drink. Our waitress served other people with drinks and people walked in to the bar and got a drink. We were told the bar was busy, then told they had lost the drinks request! All very frustrating!

The new menu was not quite my think and I thought £25 for a rump steak was a bit pricey. We both had fish & chips, a bit dry especially with no liquid refreshment!

Their recent total refurbishment has resulted in a real gem. We haven't visited for 25+ odd years but our memories are that it was never anywhere near as good as this. Our guess is that they not only spent the pandemic on upgrading the physical structure and fittings but on building an entirely "can do" team to offer the kind of hospitality that we generally don't expect. Have you ever asked a busy barman about where to park and how to find the stairs up to your rooms and you find him helping you with your luggage? Yes it's that kind of place. Everything exceptional. These guys wrote the book on teamwork and that's for sure. Well done!

Re. 'you' in your question - I was a guest who visited, and am not a member of staff who works there - so (like the other respondents) cannot say for sure. Nonetheless I am sure they'd serve something to eat at breakfast time to visitors. I hope this helps. Why not just contact the hotel directly?!
