Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at Polean Farm as a family group with ages ranging from 0 to 80. The house is lovely, staying on a farm was amazing. The pony rides, tractor rides and animal feeding was all available and the children loved it. The staff at the farm were all very helpful and made our stay special. I highly recommend it.

Polean Farm accommodated 17 of us for one week in Farmhouse and Twinkle cottages. Both cottages were very clean, comfortable and well presented with farm animals, trampoline and games room for great grandchildren which was an added bonus. We visited few beaches, slate mine, jet ski and the amazing Goliath Falls. Waking up to open countryside was icing on the cake - thank you Polean well recommended.

Mealhouse - we stayed for 5 nights and were really disappointed with the accommodation from what we thought we had booked, based on the website and emails beforehand. Polean pitches itself as being 4* accommodation for families "toddler friendly", however the Mealhouse was dirty and tired. Our 1 yr old enjoyed the animals (feeding goats and chickens and holding the guinea pigs) and the farm itself is nice, but the cottage should be cleaned to a much higher standard for a place marketed for families and children. (Large clumps of dust under sofas, an old pringles lid, someone else cheerios on the floor, high chair was dirty and sticky, carpets were dirty, no curtain in bathroom - other reviews said curtains were dirty so they've removed and not replaced?). There was no welcome in the property, just an email before. No contact with anyone on site on arrival, and no note, no pack, no greeting at all, we tried to address some issues we had and no one replied to our messages. The kitchen was partially equipped. Fridge, separate freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. Electric hob and oven. There was a cafetiere, basic crockery and cutlery, a few random pots and pans but no serving dishes (just one old lid), only 3 pretty rubbish knives. There was a teapot with 2 teabags, and 2 sachets of vinegar provided - not exactly what we were expecting for the price we paid and the 4* pitch! The bed was VERY soft, which we found incredibly uncomfortable. Sheets and towels provided and clean. Nowhere to bath a baby, no plug for the shower unit. TV was not easy to work out the amazon firestick input, happened upon it eventually and got it working. DVD remote batteries dead, had to swap from TV remote and keep switching :( Wifi was OK, streaming TV was a bit stop/start at times. Laundry room on site is shared for all houses and paid, one indesit washing machine, one dryer for all houses, fairly complicated explanation of how to use but essentially cost £2 for a normal 40 degree wash cycle, luckily we brought our own detergent, washing line and pegs. The communal play area is a great concept, but again is dirty and tired with some broken toys and generally very grubby. Probably ok for older kids but for toddlers that want to taste everything, not recommended! Swimming pool is at a local holiday park, the water was pretty cold! it was easy enough to book online, just 1 hr sessions, which was fine for us with 1 yr old, a nice activity for a rainy day. Polperro is lovely, we parked at Talland bay and walked along the costal path, great walk, some steep areas. The cafe at Talland Bay is nice too, little beach huts to sit in and some beach essentials on sale too. £200 security deposit was returned to us as per emails. Hope the owners at Polean do something to address the cleaning issues, then this would be a much nicer place to stay with a toddler!

Lovely place to stay, very peaceful and with great countryside views. My toddler loved the farm animals and the playground. The location is close to coastside and forests, with beautiful towns nearby. We did had a great time and are looking g forward to repeating.

Such a beautiful place. So peaceful. Perfect family holiday. Accomodation is great and all the activities available are amazing. So much to see and do. The location is great too, easy access to all of North Cornwall but north and south coast. Highly highly recommended.

We booked the Mealhouse for a short 5 day break in Cornwall, I initially found the accomodation at Booking.com and searched for a place that we could take our dog. I rang the owners to confirm details for the dog and was able to book the accomodation immediately at a discount and very reasonable charge. We were emailed instructions for arrival and directions to the property which were very useful. The Mealhouse was a detached farm building conversion, centrally heated with 1 bedroom, ensuite shower room toilet, kitchen and lounge, also small enclosed garden which was great for the dog. The Mealhouse was fully equipped with everything needed just like home, perfect for a couple with a dog. Our stay at Polean Farm was enjoyable and we were very comfortable however the weather was wet and stormy and we grateful that the accomodation was so good. We will certainly return to this great location.

We stayed in the Farmhouse with our children and grandchildren and had a wonderful time. The house was spacious and well presented. There was a games room in the grounds and animal feeding sessions for the little ones. Free use of swimming pool at nearby holiday park was great for rainy days too. Ps a big thank you to Sarah who kindly posted a teddy bear we had left behind!

We enjoyed our stay at one of the cottages. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well appointed. The bed was very comfy. The location is good for exploring East Cornwall. We didn't take advantage of any of the farm activities, but they sound great fun!

We stayed in the meal house and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Everything we needed for a lovely few nights away. Animal feeding with farmer Keith was great and really fun and informative for the kiddos (mixed ages from 2-13 on our feed) we even got an egg for our breakfast which my little one loved collecting and eating!! Loved our ride on Noah the pony (thank you Lisa) everyone working/using the farm was very friendly….little one got lots of waves from tractor divers and horse riders. great little climbing frame, trampoline and indoor hut with toys, drawing etc and the tractor ride looked fun but my little one was not having a go dispute farmer Keith’s best efforts (thank you Keith) As mentioned in other posts parts of the farm are a little worn but didn’t affect us (all just adds character and times are hard for all out there especially small businesses!) We visited the Eden project (use your Clubcard points!) and also went to kidzworld which is amazing, right next door to a Cornish food hall so was a double bubble experience for us! In summary an amazing outdoor Cornish family holiday, would highly recommend especially if your little people love animals….oh and the quiet and views were to die for! Thank you all at Poelean farm we will be back!
