Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What can I say other than perfection! We stayed in The Lodge with our husky who absolutely loved running in the secure field. The cottages are a great place to base yourself whilst exploring the local area. Neil gave us some great tips on places to visit. Lanallos Beach and Polruan passenger ferry over to Fowey being our favourites. We walked into Polperro and got a taxi back after a few drinks. The Lodge was very clean and well equipped. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return. We booked via Booking. com but Neil advised us to book direct for a discount if we rebooked.

Husband and I stayed in The Owl during late August with our daughter and grandaughter. We were all very impressed with the presentation and cleanliness of the cottage; all the kitchen equipment was of an excellent quality, neat and tidy and easy to use. Fragrant toiletries were provided in the bathroom with plenty of hot water, and the added bonus of views over the fields. The grounds are intriguing with well-kept grassed areas, interesting sculptures and picnic benches. Our granddaughter of 2 and a half loved the play equipment and would have been happy there all day, had she not also fallen in love with the beach. It is peaceful here and has the 'holiday feeling' from the minute one opens the five bar gate to enter, where the parking is generous on a gravel approach and drive. Neil and Theresa and their son were very helpful with their local knowledge and made us feel welcome. We have stayed here twice now, and hope to return. Thank you.

Great location for exploring the nearby beaches and local villages. We brought our two dogs with us and the field next to the cottages was perfect for taking them out first thing. The cottage was really well equipped with an oven and washer drier which came in handy. The local pub was also in walking distance.

Its my second time at Talahay. I say this for the one simple reason, it's the staging point for escape, and adventure. Far enough away from the tourist traps , but close enough to visit those gems that were unknown , yet to be discovered. The complex of cottages is in a truly rural setting, with lovely gardens that don't aspire to be fickle, but lend to an aura of real tranquillity. Benches and seating can be found to dine outside on a sunny evening, or just sit back and watch wildlife . The cottages are comfortable and in a happy way can be described as a home from home. Furnishings are well kept, and the addition of a washer dryer in the kitchen is a godsend. Kitchen and dining areas are clean and functional, well equipped and provide alternative to some overpriced menus served in nearby Looe. Neil, is a great source of knowledge for trips to little coastal gems, and a great guy to pass time with in chat. For authenticity , I would struggle to promote any where else in the area, and I have lived in Looe as a business owner. For a stay without pretence, in an oasis of calm , choose Talehay.

I have, over the years, reviewed many establishments. I dont pull any punches, and I'll paint you a true picture. The only picture I can paint of Talehay is something akin to a Constable masterpiece. The small but perfectly formed Cottage area is in a quiet rural setting , some 13 minutes from Looe or pollperro. We stayed in the Lodge, an open plan building, cosy enough for two, with enough floorspace for childs travel cot if you need. One third is the sleeping area, the middle third being a sofa and tv area with small table and chairs behind, for eating, and the end..a perfectly laid out kitchen and bathroom . Central heating was brilliant, the shower..a Bristan powerful pumped system fed from the hot water tank, equally as impressive. Kitchen..10/10..with a great washerdryer, microwave ,hob and oven, with an extractor fan, so the place doesn't get full of cooking smells. And...yes..you may laugh, but the bathroom extractor fan works too. Parking is to the side of the Lodge, and a small grassed area to the front will provide you with seating for two, with a sun facing aspect. I have absolutely no doubt, every other cottage is just as good. There is a large expanse at the rear providing a play area for kids. We had a container of shortbread and fudge waiting for us on arrival , and even some washing capsules for the washing machine. Neil was a welcome host, and obviously knowledgable about the area. And thankyou Theresa,a woman's touch never goes unnoticed. We loved our time here, it did not disappoint. Simon and Heather

We stayed in The Lodge which we highly recommend. . The accommodation for 2 people is perfect, spotlessly clean with all the amenities we needed. Some very kind touches included shortbread biscuits & local fudge on arrival Neil welcomed us and gave us plenty of information about locality The cottages are an easy drive to Looe and Polperro. We also ventured a bit further away to Mevagissey, Fowey & The Lost Gardens of Heligan - all worth a visit.

Talehay Cottages is set away in a rural part of Looe, Cornwall and is the most peaceful place to relax and unwind on your visit to Cornwall. My partner and I visited Talehay in July 2020 and stayed in The Owl cottage which is a two bedroom cottage featuring everything you need for a self catering break away. The kitchen had everything we needed including tea towels, cutlery, plates, saucepans and even a cafetière. There's also a washer/dryer if you need to do any laundry while you're away. The cottage is set in a courtyard that is shared between the 4 other cottages on site and the main farmhouse where there owners live. Neil and Teresa were very welcoming, friendly and informative sharing nice locations to visit while we were staying. There's a large paddock at the back of the cottage that is great for giving your dog a run in and having a BBQ with the supplied Cobb BBQ (requitable from the owners). The cottage was immaculately clean, the bed was really comfortable and it had such a cosy/warm feeling to it; we could have happily stayed forever!

We stayed in Owl which is a 2 bedroom. The beds are comfy (although the pillows are not great). It has absolutely everything you could need in the kitchen, even a teapot and cafetiere. There were scones, clotted cream and jam on our arrival. There are bookshelves with plenty of books, games in the kids' room, and loads of DVD's. We didn't stay the full week as it is a bit out of the way and we did a lot of driving to get places, we decided only to stay 4 nights. We will definitely return but without the kids so we can just go for walks.
