We chose the Royal as it was close to the venue of a party we were attending. The price was reasonable. The room was warm and clean although quite basic. The hotel was comfortable and the food was excellent. Overall it was fine apart from the fact that there was no hot water for the shower - tepid at best....

Stayed for one night, room was basic but clean, and only charged £39 so had realistic expectations. It needed a lick of paint and better lights in the bathroom, plus the rad in the bathroom couldn't be switched off so the room was very hot, and being on a main road meant there was a bit of road noise through...

A good stop off point if you are walking canal side. Friendly pub , with nice atmosphere. Deals to be had so keep eyes open for specials boards and other notices advertising forthcoming events. Parking available - always appears to be busy with locals and visitors.

We booked to stay for New Year's Eve 2016, on the strength that entertainment ( Black and White Ball) would be on, therefore something a bit different. When we arrived we found out there would just be a Disco! During the night it unfolded that the Assistant Manager who had ran the place for a while, had found out he...

We have just returned from a short break at the Royal Hotel. We will not be revisiting The Royal. Bearing in mind that you only get what you pay for.The room was basic. We booked a double room but we were in a family room with a double bed and two bunk beds. We thought that the bunks should of...

For a pub lunch - perfect. Although the staff were very busy with Christmas parties, loads of tables were 'reserved' or already full, they had plenty of time for our table - we hadn't booked - just turned up. Special mention to Natalie who is a natural hostess and very efficient and friendly with it. The young lad serving our...

Went with my wife for lunch. The menu choice was good and the staff helpful and friendly. Food was good quality and we received vouchers for £5 off main meals for when we return. We will definitely return.

Visiting family locally I took advantage of sunny autumn weather to walk by canal. First visit to Royal although have driven past many times. Just there for early afternoon drink - didn't eat or stay. Good range of real ale on hand pump. Two local brews from Old School Brewery in nearby Warton. Being a Mitchell's house beer from York...

We have been in before but today we were very disappointed. Me and my friend went in for a bit of lunch. We opted for the lunch menu, where you can get the mains for £6, it did not state that portions were smaller. I ordered lasagne and my friend ordered the gammon. We ordered at the bar and sat...
