We checked a few places in town, and found Tianyi to be the best of them all. It is centrally located in the old town, the building itself is magnificent and atmospheric and the decoration is authentic due to the fact that it is part of the Feng Shui Museum (you get a free entry). The name hostel is misleading,...

First, Langzhong is a place worth going. Worth going NOW, I mean, before they open the airport. Beatifully preserved city, easy reach form Chengdu, it is a real jump into historical China and without the 2fake" alure of most so called "historical cities. We stayed for 2 nights at the Tianyi Youth Hostel in Langzhong. Its not a hostel though, its more like a family owned small hotel. Speaking absolutely no Mandarin ourselves, we were relieved that the owner's daughter could speak a little english to check us in and explain a few things about the town. We had a double room overlooking...

The building is gorgeous, with the Feng Shui Museum actually being part of the hostel, and they even have a lovely cat to play with! We paid 80 kuai for a twin room with shared bathroom, lovely shared...

Located in the old part of Langzhong, this hostel does a great job of bringing in new and modern conveniences while maintaining it's traditional feng shui style. My wife and I and another couple each got a single private room for 80 RMB a night. I highly recommend getting the shared bathroom, because the smell can be a bit overpowering....

I stayed a couple of nights at the Tianyi Youth Hostel, first in a room with shared bathrooms (all other rooms were full) and then the second night in a double with bathroom. While we usually prefer our own private bathroom, the sparkling clean shared bathrooms at this place convinced me to stay. They are cleaner than many budget or...
