One night comfortable stay with dinner and breakfast. Very dog friendly. This hotel has recently been bought by Red Cat, a chain of hotels whose philosophy is to keep their individuality. The room was very clean and comfortable and the food was good, especially the cooked breakfast and dinner steak & chips. The menu is more limited than it used to be under the old ownership. Service was very friendly but could be a little more attentive & efficient. We will definitely stay there again.
I booked a 7 night stay at the King William IV for my husband and myself for the 10th May. Unfortunately due to health issues for both of us I had to cancel. Giving several weeks notice. I have now telephoned twice in previous weeks and emailed on 30th April asking for confirmation of the cancellation and I have still to hear from them. I am exceedingly disappointed with the lack of response from the King William IV
We visited the pub whilst on holiday in Norfolk, the pub itself was quite pleasant, the lady that took the food order and served the drinks did not seem particularly interested, we had the steak pie and fish and chips, my husband enjoyed the pie but I had the fish and chips which was supposed to be served with crushed garden peas, the peas were not crushed , the fish was ok but half the plate was filled with huge quite obviously frozen chips, far too many and very floury and tasteless, I left most of them, home cooked chips would have been much better, the food I would describe as basic, when the lady came to collect the plates she asked if everything was ok and I told her about the chips and why I had left most of them, she just said she would mention it in the kitchen and we heard no more , we paid the bill and left, I just feel that the meal was quantity over quality, so will not return…
The staff were very friendly and helpful, restaurant a good size and comfortable. Food was served in good time. Between us we had pie, fish and chips, 2 kids meals. Very basic pub grub and we did wonder if the fish was frozen/not fresh but overall we enjoyed our meals.
This was our second visit to The King William 1V and we weren’t disappointed. A friendly greeting started things off on the right foot and we were shown to Room 7 which includes a sofa to relax on. We enjoyed the breakfasts on offer, I always have the full English, but there’s lots of options available. We had dinner on our second evening which again was beautifully cooked and served well. We noted that the pub/hotel has now changed hands from a private owner to part of The Redcape group but the standard still remain high and the friendliness and efficiency of staff. Be aware that rooms aren’t now serviced every day so you may have to ask for extra teabags, milks etc. Also the beds aren’t remade, you have to do this yourself. Rooms are sanitised prior to your visit, all part of the Covid restrictions. It came as a bit of a surprise to return after our first day and find the bed not made but that’s not the hotel’s fault. We shall no doubt return in the future.…
This was my first meal at this establishment And was along awaited date with my close family members The service was fantastic. And the meal that followed was delicious. My steak was cooked to perfection. The portion were a fantastic size and everyone in party all agreed with empty plates. All staff could not do enough. My only criticism was that my cousin has been a few times and has always asked for the tart for dessert unfortunately it's always run out. Please try to make sure that you have enough tart. Then I will have a very happy cousin Keep up the fantastic job everyone And king william will hold his throne
Very disappointed in our meals. When youre spending well over £100 for four you expect decent meat. The meat pie was tough . Not quality. We didnt complain at the time - we werent actually asked if everything was ok - but by complaining we would have been eating out of sync and the meal was too important as an opportunity to meet with friends after a long gap. I did raise the issue when I paid. Subsequent responses have been poor. Wouldnt go back unfortunately.
The hotel has now been taken over by new management ,we have lost Nick. Having said that the new manager seems to be doing very well in these difficult times. We had 2 superior rooms which were very comfortable ,the evening meal we thought had improved ,the choice was very good ( can recommend the steak and ale pie), breakfast choice is reduced for the cold serve yourself selection but the hot choice very good. The service by the staff was friendly and efficient. One thing l do find strange is if you book with Booking.com you pay nothing upfront but if you book direct with The King William there is a £25 non-refundable deposit per person, strange considering the inn would have to pay a service charge to Booking.com anyway. All in all can can still recommend this as a good value for money stay. We have stayed several times at the King William for bird watching as it is well placed for good birding sites such as Titchwell RSPB, Holme NWT, Snettishsm RSPB…
Enjoyable stay, comfortable room and bed. Food excellent, fairly short simple menu but superb cooking and value. Generous breakfast! Enjoyed the Steak and Ale Pie! Friendly staff and good service. Handy for Hunstanton, Brancaster and Sheringham.
Had a lovely 3 night stay at King William IV Inn, which was great. Good choice of food which was excellent, also great breakfasts, and good service. We had a lovely large room with all we needed. Staff really helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
