Wanted a 1-night stopover close to Durham for Christmas Market and Beamish Museum, read reviews and have to say was not disappointed. Easy to find from Chester-Le-Street, ample car parking and friendly welcome. Room was warm, comfortable and decent-sized bathroom. Good range of freeview TV channels, tea/coffee making and a soft bed. Breakfast was first class, cooked to order using...

Just back from our third visit. Spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Staff excellent and the food both at breakfast and in the evening is really good. Always made to feel welcome by Steve his staff and the locals. Well worth a visit

We stopped at the mooring for the weekend as it was booked for my brothers wedding. On arrival we got to reception and rang the phone to call someone from the bar. We got our keys and went to the room the cot bed that we had asked for was not in the room so we went and asked to...

Stayed in one of the hot tub rooms for a birthday night away, they provide plastic glasses and robes for the hot tub. The tub its self was nicely kept, under a shelter and had some fairy lights which were cute on a night. The leaflet advises not to use it after 11pm as it can be quite noisy when...

We stayed at the moorings on Sat 9th July as we were attending a family wedding at Beamish Hall, We found the hotel to be brilliant really clean and our room no 6 very spacious, even though we were at the front of the hotel and looking over the bus stop there was hardly any noise. The staff and manager...

One should not be deceived by the name as the Moorings is nowhere near a river or canal or a lake so no one could tell us how it got its name. It is a country pub with rooms attached on a fairly busy road about 5 miles out of Chester-Le-Street. The rooms are comfortable enough but would advise the...

Stayed 2 nights at The Moorings for the test match in May 2016. A bit of a quaint hotel, room was well appointed. Comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities (oh for a biscuit), nice bathroom (watch out for very hot water). Nice and quiet location, with spacious car park and easy access to test match at Riverside. Staff very...

The food used to be brilliant , service and bills always been very bad . But when I have read other reviews they don't seem to care. Every time and I do mean every time and that's about 10 times this year my bill was wrong. Service and detail are very poor , I think maybe 1 girl is pleasant...
