#3 of 13 Speciality lodging in Great Torrington
Eight stone built holiday cottages in a delightful extensive gardens setting with panoramic views over rolling countryside and wooded valleys. A private yet convivial setting, surrounded by farmland on the edge of a small Devon village. This is War Horse and Tarka the Otter Country The grounds are gentle and generous enough to play host to a games room, library with books, games, dvds etc, a toddler play room, outdoor toddler toys, pet animals to cuddle and care for, pigs and chickens to help feed, a lovely level ball play lawn, a heated outdoor seasonal swimming pool and gardens just right for hide and seek, chatting, barbecuing and relaxing. There’s always something to do at Torridge House Cottages and you’re not far away from other activities and action. Good food, sandy beaches, surfing, cycling, potting, massages, family attractions such as The Big Sheep & The Milky Way. Wonderful gardens, RHS Rosemoor is very close by, as is the Tarka Trail and Dartington Crystal is 2 miles.

We had a fabulous time in Hen cottage. This place is really special. We spent an hour every morning and evening feeding and cuddling the animals. This is perfect for young children, in fact for 'children' of all ages. The cottages are warm, clean, tidy and well equipped. It's a very family friendly place with plenty of outdoor toys for the children. There are also a couple of indoor games rooms. We've been several times before and we will return.

Fantastic week spent in Duck Cottage. Well equipped and spacious for 3 generations of our family, there is a large lounge and another smaller one at the top of the stairs of you want peace. Lots of outside toys for the little ones and adults and social distancing has been brilliantly thought out. Feeding of the animals was the main event twice a day and the little ones loved it, and most of the adults too. Very quiet peaceful location in the countryside with loads of space to run around and play games but close enough to some lovely towns and villages and the coast. This place will not disappoint, its a hidden gem. Booked again for next year which is the first time I have ever been back to a holiday destination twice. Highly recommend

We stayed in Stag Cottage for 4 nights and a great time. We took our 2 year old son who really enjoyed feeding the animals every morning. The cottage was very spacious and a cot / high chair had already been set up for us. Also plenty of toys left out in our garden for our son to enjoy. The family have made very good arrangements to allow for social distancing (there’s plenty of space!). Private pool hourly bookings the day before / on the day worked very well too. Plenty of places to drive out to from the cottage. We went to Woolacombe Beach one day (40 minute drive) which worked out well as son could nap in the car on the way there. Other days went to Appledore / Westward Ho! Which were 20 minutes away. Overall great stay and would not hesitate to recommend / come back again.

We have just had a marvellous week in Duck Cottage at Torridge House cottages. Everything was so lovely, and organised to help with social distancing. Barbara and family worked so hard to make our visit relaxing and fun. The children loved feeding and handling the animals. The cottage was enormous and spotless.

A wonderful week on the farm. Cottages are spotless and really well equipped. Lots of space for kids to run around and they loved the animal feeding and cuddles with baby guinea pigs and bunnies. A good base for trips to beach and other North Devon attractions, or to just hang out at the farm. Will definitely return.
