Stayed here for two nights in a single occupancy room which consisted of a single bed, electric power shower & private toilet. Room was basic but was really clean and staff were more than friendly. Breakfast was included in the price which offered yoghurt, cereal, choice of either meat or vegetarian fried breakfasts or a selection of sandwiches like bacon or sausage as well as white or brown toast, tea, coffee & orange juice. Breakfast was nice (except for the mushrooms & black pudding lol) but I asked for them to not be included and they were more than happy with my request. The hotel is situated on the high within walking distance to everything you need.
Would definitely recommend this place and will be booking again on my next visit.

Had a two night stay here and it's wonderful and welcoming, room was comfortable and spotlessly clean as it the whole place - room looked out on main road but noise not an issue at all. Staff very helpful and friendly the gent who served us breakfast both mornings is great. The breakfasts are lovely all you could want and more the bacon is so thick it's almost a gammon steak, once again all clean and perfect. We visited just as COVID restrictions were being lifted but felt perfectly safe and looked after The Swan is definitely a safe place to go and stay thank you Swan staff 5 stars

Arrived at check in, the lady was really friendly apologised whilst she was serving and then checked me in and was shown to my room by a friendly chap. Room was very clean and lots of tea & coffee and fresh towels.

Nothing wasn't too much trouble, chap who was manning the bar and breakfasy again very friendly and had lots of local knowledge for guests (asset to the business) and breakfast was very fresh and cooked to order 10 out of 10.

Again (sorry didn't catch your name) the lady came over to ask if i had a good night's sleep apologised if bar guests were rowdy (Which they weren't!, very quiet at night there!!)

Well definitely recommend to friends and family and look forward to a visit again.

Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Went to the hotel for a few drinks while in holiday in the area with family. We sat in the beer garden because we had our dog with us and it was a lovely afternoon. The service from the staff was first class. We were made feel so welcome and staff were very friendly especially one member of staff that was working on Sunday 30th August she was very attentive throughout our visit. I would highly recommend a visit to the hotel we had such a great afternoon there it was definitely one of the highlights of our weekend.

We spent one night in this centrally situated pub/hotel and our room was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was particularly good and we can certainly recommend an overnight here if visiting the Forest of Dean. The staff are polite and helpful and the service is good. Very good value.

I rang to say that I was going to be late and I was told that this was not going to be an issue. When I arrived the kitchen had stopped serving food, but they offered me a hot beverage and I was told I could bring food in from outside and eat it in the pub area, which I did!. I was given a plate, cutlery and was made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. As I was tired I over slept and missed breakfast the next day but they said that the chef would make me breakfast and I had my own individual full breakfast, with cereal, egg, bacon, and a sausage sandwich and a hot drink. I can't speak highly enough for the the service I received ,the excellent price I paid for the room, as it was a very positive experience. I was traveling to Chepstow the next day and it w only 30 mins away

The staff were exceptionally helpful, could not fault them. The restaurant is closed on Mondays so we had fish & chips from the nearby chippy. The lovely lady laid a table in the restaurant for us, she was very helpful. We had booked in for three nights but only stayed one night. My husband has mobility issues & struggled with the stairs……. Very steep & bendy. The breakfast was first class & the hotel was clean. The staff arranged for our luggage to be carried down from our room for us,we really struggled to get it up to our room. The management should make it clear that the hotel is NOT suitable for people with mobility problems. The town of Lydney had nothing to offer, dying on its feet.

We spent the night in Lydney at the Swan Hotel. From the moment we checked in nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were really polite, helpful, joking, and accommodating. Our waiter Charlie went above and beyond what you would expect. Our room was quiet, clean and the food was exceptional. The breakfast was all locally sourced and really good. Drink prices at the bar were just below the norm which was a pleasant surprise. We would happily stay again as its in the beautiful area of the forest of Dean and the harbour and steam train very close by also. Not since we stayed in a 5 star Island resort in the maldives have we experienced such great staff and attention to our needs. Highly recommend on this alone.

We book this just for somewhere to go away from home for a change. When we got there, we parked in the free car park behind the hotel. We were greeted by a young chap named Charlie who was more than welcoming. He checked us in and took us to our room(no.2). On the way he was very chatty and telling us a bit out Lydney. We thanked him and unpacked for our stay. As we had no plans to go far, we headed to the bar for drinks. There is a good selection at reasonable prices. Again Charlie was at hand to advise us about drinks. We were hoping to book a table at The Ugly Duckling restaurant connected to the hotel, but they were fully booked. Our fault as we left it too late. We ordered food from the restaurant and stayed in the bar to eat. Well, the food is absolutely mouthwatering and again very reasonably priced. My partner had duck and I had a gourmet burger. Very tasty, very fresh and well presented. All the staff in the evening were fantastic. We had a few more drinks and headed to our room.
The room is spacious enough for a couple, plenty of plug sockets and lighting. There is a tv and tea/coffee things. There is a hairdryer too and space to hang clothes. The bathroom is spacious enough to move around and both rooms are very clean. Room 2 is on the front of the hotel, but not too noisy.
We went for breakfast the next morning and we were greeted by Charlie again. His service skills are very good. He is extremely polite and always ready to help. Our breakfast was as good as the food the evening before, tasty and fresh cooked.
We are going to book again in the new year. We rarely book somewhere twice as we like to see different places, but we are looking forward to it. We’ll book a table at the restaurant next time too.
