Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Avoid at all costs and an absolute disgrace. We stayed here for 1 night on our way to wales. Paid £109 for a family room. It was filthy (see photos) and the mattresses so old you could feel the springs digging in when you moved. It was hot, stuffy, dirty and uncomfortable. A travelodge would have been better. I told reception on checking on about all the problems. The girl behind reception was very apologetic and friendly and said she’d speak to her manager. We went out to the local park and on returning the manager had left a message with reception that they could only move us to an upstairs flat, which was more expensive, and we would have to pay extra. Absolutely disgraceful. Do not stay!

Lovely big room, thought there may have been a fridge. Very quiet, plenty of towels, nice crisp sheets - shared bathroom but never saw any other occupants over the two days so it wasn’t a problem. Fire door propped open all weekend which is against regulations.

I booked 2x rooms for a week, on arrival, found out that I booked the wrong month! It was through a third party, but they were so accommodating and were able to amend the booking for me that night. Laura went above and beyond to help me and I am so grateful. Thank you for everything! Saved my job.

Selected rooms with shared bathroom. Very minimalistic, no bedside lamp, only small mirror on back of door, bathroom tired, outdated, didn’t feel clean, shower gets the whole floor wet, not bath May or extra towel to stand on. Not worth the money, chosen for location. The plus side is the one member of staff we met were friendly and polite. My room was right next to the bathroom and got disturbed every time someone used it.

Clean, large rooms, comfortable beds with good duvets & pillows. Very friendly management who offered good suggestions on where to eat and drink. Situated so that it’s an easy walk to all amenities in town. I would return. Please note, they do not offer cooked breakfasts.

Very good accommodation, spacious room, spotlessly clean, good parking facilities (effectively outside own room). Pleasant, friendly and helpful receptionist who kindly listed local places to eat (several within walking distance) Hotel provides free wifi (with good and stable connection). More than happy to recommend for business stays.

Response from neil Hodgson, General Manager at Deangate Motel
Responded 12 Jul 2022
Many thanks for the review. you booked through booking.com., which is the downside to third parties. We ( deangate ) cannot refund you. It is booking com who takes your money, so booking com who has to make the refund. We can authorise, the refund, which as you are aware, we did, immediately on your request. but we have control when booking.com will take action their side. You understood this when we spoke. It was unfortunate that we were very busy when you wanted to stay so outside rooms were fully taken so you could not change from your economy room upstairs where your bike didnt fit .
