Sifnos and Hotel Stavros have been on my list of places to go since a work colleague recommended them to me around ten years ago. Then more recently friends stayed here and couldn't praise both the location and the hotel highly enough. I had to see for myself so finally we made it to Hotel Stavros in October this year as part of a Greek island hopping holiday. I was not disappointed. Our visit to this island and in particular Hotel Stavros was one of the highlights of our trip. A typical Greek village with a lovely sandy beach only metres from the hotel, along with a bakery and a well stocked supermarket right next door. Friendly helpful staff at the hotel who couldn't do enough for you. Sifnos has a great network of walking trails which are easily accessible from the hotel either on foot or by using the local bus. We didn't want to leave and will definitely return!!!…
Where to start - Hotel Stavros is fantastic - staff, location, rooms - we didn’t want to leave!! Whilst simple (just the way we like it) the rooms were clean and comfortable everything worked - no dodgy shower / no noisy AC / well equipped kitchen. The staff were so so lovely and helpful. Great recommendations for restaurants from Spyros - O Simos / Araxovoli and Tselementes in Apollonia. We will be back!!!
Hotel located 10m from the beach,4m from tavern,200m from ferry and bus stop.Groceries, shops, taverns in walking distance. From the window/small balcony beautiful view for sea and mountains with monastries or chapels on the top.And most important:fantastic owners. It is excellent place for holidays and sightseeing Sifnos island
We ended our Greek island hop in Sifnos and on the recommendation of Matt Barrett's Greece guide booked this place. We were so pleased. It's a short walk from the harbour and overlooks the lovely beach with all the bars, restaurants and shops right on the doorstep. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the beach and although it was right in the centre of things, the doors were really well soundproofed so there was no noise from the seafront. (Slightly different story with the noisy family in the next door room, but a nuclear bunker wouldn't have stopped their shouting getting through). The room was clean, spacious and well equipped and because there are two lovely bakeries and a supermarket almost next door, it was easy to sit and eat a leisurely breakfast while enjoying the view. Kamares is a perfect base for exploring Sifnos - everything you need is here, from the shallow, calm sea, a sweeping bay and picturesque views of the chapels and whitewashed houses. The bus to Apolonia is regular, cheap and takes ten minutes and while the town is absolutely stunning and a must see, we were glad to be close to the water for our base. We did rent a car from Sarah and Stavros - do book this well in advance. A day is enough to see the island - two might be more leisurely, and it's easy enough to drive. The cost of car hire was really reasonable (55 per day) and we picked the car up on the street right outside reception. Another lovely day was spent on the Amanda boat tour around the island. All in all, a really lovely stay. Thank you Sarah and Stavros.…
Fourth time we’ve been lucky enough to stay here over the years and still fabulous! We rarely go back to the same places but this is one exception. Room 35 is fantastic for our family of 5. Stupendous views from the balcony, spotlessly clean and plenty of space. If I had one minor criticism it would be that it did get pretty hot at night despite the AC unit and a couple of fans whirring away. It certainly wasn’t a dealbreaker though and that’s because everything else was perfect. Sarah, her family and staff are friendly, funny, and gracious hosts and can’t do enough for you. An example; this year we hired a car from their rental agency. We got a flat in the middle of nowhere and within twenty minutes Sarah’s husband and son had arrived with another car. We continued on our island drive and they sorted the tyre. No stress, no extra fees. Lots of families return time and time again and it’s not hard to see why. We hope to be back in 2021! …
