After a month of island hopping, Hotel Stavros was by far our favourite place to stay.

Everything was just perfect from the room, the location and most of all the service from Stavros, Sarah and the team. So helpful, relaxed and friendly.

They also run Sifnos Travel and we hired a car for a day for 35 Euros. It was completely stress free and Sarah was very relaxed about the time we returned it the next day. So we had time to pop up to see the monastery at the top of the mountain, where we saw incredible views.

We chose the hotel after reading Matt Barrett’s guides and we were so glad we did.

The beach is right opposite the hotel as are restaurants, shops, bakery and supermarket. It is approx. 200 metres walk from the port in Kamares to ideal for the ferries.

We had room 35 on the top floor which had stunning views over the bay.

When we return to Sifnos we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else

Sifnos and Hotel Stavros have been on my list of places to go since a work colleague recommended them to me around ten years ago. Then more recently friends stayed here and couldn't praise both the location and the hotel highly enough. I had to see for myself so finally we made it to Hotel Stavros in October this year as part of a Greek island hopping holiday. I was not disappointed. Our visit to this island and in particular Hotel Stavros was one of the highlights of our trip. A typical Greek village with a lovely sandy beach only metres from the hotel, along with a bakery and a well stocked supermarket right next door. Friendly helpful staff at the hotel who couldn't do enough for you. Sifnos has a great network of walking trails which are easily accessible from the hotel either on foot or by using the local bus. We didn't want to leave and will definitely return!!!

Lovely accommodation in the heart of Kamares. 5 mins walk from the ferry and with lovely AC rooms and fridges. We had a twin and a double room - sea facing with their own little balconies. Sarah looked after us very well and helped us with all our questions. Comfortable beds and very clean.

We stayed at the Stavros Hotel for 12 nights at the beginning of August. We absolutely loved it! Our room was on the second floor, very clean, very comfortable double bed, a little kitchen area (great for that early morning cuppa), bathroom also clean with a lovely shower and to top all that a balcony with the most superb view of the bay of Kamares. Yes, the hotel is right on the 'main' road but it's so narrow and we found it fascinating being able to see everything. It only ever got busy when a ferry arrived and this was always a buzz. All the activity only lasted about 20 minutes and when you're sat on your balcony, early evening with a cold beer after a lovely day on the beach what better way to 'people watch'! Nothing ever kept us awake during the night either. There is a very good choice of cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk from the hotel and The Captain's Bar was fabulous, right on the beach. That's another thing we loved about Kamares, the beach. Plenty of sunbeds with shades, crystal clear sea, hardly any other British holidaymakers and the bay faces west so the sun didn't go down until after 8pm. Bliss. We've travelled a lot but it will take somewhere very special to beat this amazing place. Stavros and Sarah - thank you so much!!!

Our third time at the Stavros Hotel. We have travelled all over the island and wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is just too gorgeous in so many ways (I suggest you read my review of 13 September 2012 for all the detail). It really is Heaven on Earth, I cry everytime we have to leave and can't wait to get back there next year!

Going back to sifnos again this summer we chose Stavros Hotel as our base in Kamares. We did feel welcome by Stavros and his wife and our room was simple, nice and clean. The hotel is conveniently located on the main road from the harbor and you have a really nice view of the water. It's so easy to just cross the street for a coffee at Cafe Stavros (even though the quality of coffee and service varied..) or to go to the beach for a swim. Also you can watch the 'commotion' of Kamares from your balcony but unfortunately you can also hear the commotion, the trucks and cars going by, people on the street in the middle of the night when you want to to get some rest... Also a better mattress might have helped. .. All in all, would opt for a more quiet and a bit spacier room the next time.

Spacious rooms and clean bathrooms. Free wifi and nice balconies. I stayed in a 2 room room with a decent size kitchen. The location is right across the street from a clean and pleasant beach. The little area is all within walking distance. When we checked out they gave us a bottle of homemade olive oil. They are very friendly.

We ended our Greek island hop in Sifnos and on the recommendation of Matt Barrett's Greece guide booked this place. We were so pleased. It's a short walk from the harbour and overlooks the lovely beach with all the bars, restaurants and shops right on the doorstep. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the beach and although it was right in the centre of things, the doors were really well soundproofed so there was no noise from the seafront. (Slightly different story with the noisy family in the next door room, but a nuclear bunker wouldn't have stopped their shouting getting through). The room was clean, spacious and well equipped and because there are two lovely bakeries and a supermarket almost next door, it was easy to sit and eat a leisurely breakfast while enjoying the view. Kamares is a perfect base for exploring Sifnos - everything you need is here, from the shallow, calm sea, a sweeping bay and picturesque views of the chapels and whitewashed houses. The bus to Apolonia is regular, cheap and takes ten minutes and while the town is absolutely stunning and a must see, we were glad to be close to the water for our base. We did rent a car from Sarah and Stavros - do book this well in advance. A day is enough to see the island - two might be more leisurely, and it's easy enough to drive. The cost of car hire was really reasonable (55 per day) and we picked the car up on the street right outside reception. Another lovely day was spent on the Amanda boat tour around the island. All in all, a really lovely stay. Thank you Sarah and Stavros.
