We stayed here for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we chose the dinner B & B package with a complimentary drink on arrival for a cost of £329 for the bridal suite. The room was absolutely beautiful, with the most sumptuous bed and pillows it was decorated beautifully and had everything that one needed for an overnight stay apart from a safe. There is a huge variety of drinks available and a nice selection of wines, although I feel it would have been nice to include some local wines as well, we have enough vineyards in Kent now. The menu was delicious and food great. The package although inclusive, does have various limits to what is included so it might be worth checking what this is to avoid any surprises on check out. We really enjoyed our stay and we didn't want to go far so it was the perfect place to choose, however, for the money (almost £500 by the time you add drinks, wine and extras) it lacks the finer things that could set it apart from many other places. I am not overly fussy, but if I am paying top prices for a stay, I expect a top class service. I am being extremely picky here and it didn't put us off however, as we have been lucky enough to stay at some beautiful first class places in our life we would obviously make comparisons. Would I go back yes - would I recommend it yes.

Thank you so much to all the staff at the dog. We took a spontaneous night with our dog and we felt very welcomed. We stayed in suite 7 and the bed was huge and very comfortable with all the comforts needed.
We had an evening meal and breakfast. There was so much to choose from on the menu and everything we tried was delicious and the wine choices were also good. We felt really Covid safe throughout and there was hand sanitizer throughout and on every table and everyone spread out.
Honestly thank you so much for a fantastic stay, we will definitely come again

Two night stay at the Dog in room 8, very comfortable on the ground floor accessed via the rear patio. The bed is exceedingly comfortable and the room was cleaned well, two slight negative points, the kettle had a habit of cutting out, and three out of 4 wall lights weren't working. The evening meals were cooked to a very high standard, and the chef certainly knows how to create stunning food, The venison and the Hogget were tasty and tender. Thew amuse bouche's were a lovely touch both nights. The cooked breakfast was also packed with flavour, it would be nice though if there was some fruit on offer, everywhere else seems to be able to offer grapefruit, melon etc

Booked this for my partners birthday and was sold an exceptional room and fine dining. Arrived at the venue lovely bar area polite staff and good selection of gin. We was shown to our 'exceotional' room and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The room was so small you had to climb over each other to get to bed. It was above the kitchen with the radio playing and had a very bright emergency exit sign shining in your face all night. Whilst decor was nice and bathroom was nice the room was a joke. Dinner at the restaurant was nice and again staff were exceptional our waitress was very tentative and polite. Breakfast was OK. I would recommend for dinner but definitely not for a night away. The bill for £315 was representative for the night away we had planned.

I am so sorry to hear you were disappointed. This ancient building has varying size rooms, which is reflected in the price, we advertise the room sizes, and whilst the space is tight, In our compact rooms, you can walk all the way around the bed, and it is not necessary to climb over your partner. We are delighted that you enjoyed all other aspects of your visit, should you wish to return, May I recommend one of our larger rooms. Regards, Marilyn.

Marc and his team have created a warm, welcoming pub with well appointed rooms and beds so comfortable you don’t want to climb out of them in the morning! Delicious food, beautifully presented from a menu catering for varied dietary requirements with professional, attentive service. Great to see the inclusion of British wines on his extensive list. Ideally situated for the many tourist attractions this beautiful part of Kent has to offer. Thank you, we will return!

This was our second visit to the Dog, once just before lockdown and then last week. Both times the food was amazing. There is so much attention to detail in each dish and lots of fab flavours. This is now definitely one of my favourite ever restaurants.

There is a nice atmosphere in the place.

My husband had food envy for my chilli bbq steak. It was amazing.

We also stayed the night, we went for the cheapest room and it was very tiny, it was lovely but I think next time I would pay the extra and get a bigger room. Especially as they do dinner b&b offers on the more expensive rooms but not the cheaper ones, so may not cost much more overall.

Definitely would recommend this place

We live quite locally to The Dog at Wingham, so some may wonder why we choose to stay here. It’s simple really- why travel any further when you have a perfect place so close by!
We had another night away from our young son; who was excited to be having his grandparents to stay with him, so we jumped at the opportunity to return to The Dog again. We have stayed four times before and have eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner on numerous occasions. We have been as a couple, as a family with children and as a larger group.

I can honestly say we have never been disappointed and have never found anything not to our liking or not well done. There’s rarely a place that manages to get the atmosphere, the decor, the food, the service and the people perfect but this place wins for us again and again.

On this visit, we sat by the fire in the bar enjoying the atmosphere and chatting to the welcoming staff and locals- some of which now recognise us! We had another fantastic meal and yet again send our compliments to the team in the kitchen. We then had a restful and much needed good nights sleep in the lovely room that provides us with all we need for a break away. Going to bed thinking we’d never manage breakfast due to the fabulous meal, we woke knowing we couldn’t miss the yummy cooked breakfast The Dog provides and yet again it succeeded all our expectations.

I don’t often write reviews but The Dog at Wingham and all of its staff deserve to be thanked and recognised for their hard work and dedication to their customers.

We left feeling well fed and well rested and look forward to our next visit in February when we visit again with family for dinner.

Just had a two night stay with some friends for a Golf trip.
Welcome throughout our stay was wonderfully warm and all staff were super attentive.
In these difficult times, the restaurant and breakfast area have been arranged to make you feel completely safe.
Food was excellent throughout our stay and again, cannot speak highly enough of the welcome we were given.

I booked this trip to The Dog as a birthday treat for my wife in December, unfortunately we were unable to make it due to illness. The trip was postponed to January, the Staff could not have been more helpful in changing the booking, welcoming us and looking after us throughout our one night stay, even providing a charging for my car.
The accommodation was truly outstanding as was the food and excellent beer and wine. I am not a great fan of Nouvelle cuisine, but I must say the food and proportions were excellent , both the evening dinner and breakfast, and they remembered it was a birthday treat. well done all at The Dog !!

We had an excellent night at the Dog. We stayed in the family room which whilst small was comfortable for the 3 of us. The staff where excellent and extremely friendly and the food was outstanding. We would highly recommend the Dog for a meal and an overnight stay as it is well located just a short drive into Canterbury.
