We have experienced an amazing tasting menu, family Sunday roasts, dinner with friends, midweek lunch and the food is always excellent: prepared and presented with such care, each visit is an absolute delight. As ever, the level of customer care is exemplary. Now stylishly decorated for Christmas - can't wait to celebrate Christmas Day at The Dog.

Four of us went to The Dog for a drink after we had been out for lunch. This was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. All very modern and cosy with a lovely fire. The atmosphere felt good and when I saw the dining room and the happy customers enjoying their Sunday roasts, I... More

Gerry, I am very sorry that you had this experience. I am sure that my barman did not mean to offend and they should have absolutely explained that we are very proud of our Gin bar of more than thirty different gins and we would love to advise you on an exciting new gin to try. I am going to... More

The hotel (and bar and restaurant) have recently been taken over, and it's clear the new owners are out to impress. The family suite is spacious and beautifully decorated. The mattresses are nice a firm, but the pillows are feather (I'm allergic, which was a bit of an issue - should have remembered to take my own). It's also nice... More

The easiest thing to do is show you the email I sent to the owners on the 15th October from whom I have not had any sort of reply. My husband and I stayed overnight at your establishment on the 7th September this year. We arrived at the Dog quite late and the room looked OK. Nothing special. Very small.... More

Good Morning Squeak Gone Mad, We welcome fair and constructive criticism. However you seem to have forgotten entirely what happened. You and your husband were not even booked into The Dog. You were booked to stay with our friends at The Duke William in the neighbouring village, however due to an error on their part they had been overbooked and... More

If it had been bigger, it would have been perfect. But Room 5 is really tiny. The room and bathroom were renovated in an extremely tasteful manner, the bed was very comfortable but it would have worked as a single room much better. We were unlucky as the restaurant closes at 4pm on a Sunday, our fault for not reading... More

Hi Christine, Thanks for your feedback. All of our rooms are individually styled and are of different sizes and all priced accordingly. Glad that you liked the decor and that the bed was comfortable. Hopefully you will come back to try our food and maybe a different room. They all have the same fantastic Hypnos beds! Best, Marc More

Heard great reviews from friends so decided to try the dog out as our next mid week treat. We weren't disappointed... The service was great so friendly and relaxed but still attentive and we thought the food was amazing. Perfect portion size which meant we had room to finish the meal with a local cheese board selection; mmmmmm! Also so... More
