Long review alert - after reading the feedback left here, I’d like to give my full and honest opinion of this campsite. We stayed here for a couple of nights. We arrived under difficult circumstances - our motor home was very poorly. We did arrive at lunchtime and yes names and pitch numbers are placed on a board whilst the office is shut for lunch, however, having spent a considerable amount of time in France, I can say that this is not unusual and I don’t mind it. You know where you need to go and pop back to the office after lunch to tie up loose ends. One of the owners did pop out from preparing the evening dinner to assist us and settled us in a shaded area whilst we waited for a mechanic to arrive. The other half of the owner duo came and spoke with us also and was very helpful. Our vehicle was not able to be fixed by a mechanic until the following day. We were given a quiet pitch at the back of the site to settle in. The swimming pool was closed as they were waiting for official confirmation that they were allowed to open. There are regular tests carried out by officials on public pools in France. This was no fault of the owners. Thankfully though, the pool was given the go ahead to open later that same day. Downhearted about the poorliness of the vehicle, we didn’t want to venture far as it has been a long hot day. We used the shower facilities which were clean. Unisex. Ample room to change in the shower cubicle. Disabled shower cubicle and toilet were also available. Hairdryer, hand soap and loo roll all available too. Yes there was a mop and bucket to mop up over showering spillages. With regards to wet floors - who doesn’t wear waterproof flip flops or sliders in a campsite shower? For those of us who do, it’s not a problem. Lovely hot water. Library area outside of the shower cubicle area. Very handy. We then wandered to the bar and restaurant for some food. I can understand how some reviews thought it was quite British as many Brits repeat holiday there and everything is in English. Food was tasty, we were served, we were relaxed, we met and chatted with people of different nationalities. The owners, extended staff and fellow campers all went well out of their way to help us with our vehicle issues. I don’t know what we would have done if it wasn’t for their kindness. Yes it is a site owned and run by a British couple and the menu is slightly tailored to a British clientele, however there were visitors of different nationalities on site. Firstly, we are all in challenging and new circumstances. Business are thin on the ground and the new normal takes a bit of getting used to for all parties. A degree of understanding is needed on both sides. They are doing their best in challenging times with skeleton staff and we do our best to have patience and understanding. And finally campsites are greatly what you make them to be. We found the site to be peaceful, clean and everyone onsite was incredibly helpful. Yes we would go back.

Visited this site after reading good reviews, it was apparently immaculate, It wasn’t! On arrival, they said the grounds might be a little unkempt, they, were having trouble finding a gardener. Rather than “unkempt” we found the whole place in need of a good tidying and cleaning. The pool area was horrendous, the shower/foot bath at the entry to the pool was filthy, full of weeds, dead leaves, dirt etc. all of which was being walked into the pool area. The surrounds of the pool had obviously not been swept for weeks, the surrounding fence was full of weeds, the recliners were filthy, no umbrellas out, on the hottest day of the year, just a heap of dirty umbrella bases left in a corner, along with the hand rails to the pool which weren’t in place. We were asked to leave the pool because a visit by the “pool police” had discovered that the chemical levels in the water were incorrect, the owner’s wife said this was because of COVID-19! The public areas such as the outdoor seating, BBQ et., were weed ridden and unkempt. The owners have had 3 months in lockdown to get this site in good shape, most of it didn’t need a gardener, just some work that anyone could carry out but at no time during our visit were either of the owners rectifying any of the problems, with the exception of putting more chemicals in the pool. On arrival we were given no information/site map etc., there was no hand sanitizer in any of the public areas and the staff did not wear masks in the bar or reception.

We are truly upset by your recent review, you clearly have no understanding as to how hard things have been and continue to be. Normally we would have gardener helping us but because of the lock down we have no staff at all, my wife and I have done as much as we can to look after the 14 acres of campsite. The area around the pool a few weeks ago were poppies in full bloom, the foliage has now been sprayed to kill off the remaining foliage, you were lucky that the pool was open as we have only just had notification to open as were told not to open due to the Covid. As our pool is deemed a public pool we have regular inspections and if the chemicals a are not correct the they have the authority to close the pool for your safety. The recliners should have not been next to the pool but people just help themselves. The weeds in general are a real concern as the French government have banned the active ingredient Glycosulphate, again the area by the barbecues a few weeks ago were poppies in bloom. We have now found, after much searching, the correct weed killer. There is a site map both inside and outside reception, if you had wanted a site map all you had to do was ask. there was and is hand sanitzer in reception. At the time of your visit it was not obligatory to wear face masks.

An excellent site. The English owners, Jayne and James are so welcoming and helpful Ready to chat and give advice or suggesting places to visit or shop. The toilet and shower block is unisex, but is kept spotless and is warm. The pitches are a good size and there are plenty of tap and electric points about. There is a washing machine and drier and also washing lines to save tying lines to the trees. Often there are quizzes or bingo or entertainment nights. The food served some evenings is all home cooked, but there is no obligation to join in anything. We met people who keep there caravan with the owners and then travel to the site by car and either stay, or pick it up and tour around France. We both highly recommend the site

Tidy well run camp site near Airvault. Toilets have toilet paper, toilet seats and soap!! Showers are great, hot and the water stays on for a decent amount of time after you push the button. Owners are British and very friendly, there’s a bar and a restaurant open some nights too, quite social.

Good site, quiet, clean, well managed. Showers and toilet block clean and available at all times no extra charge. Scorching weather all 17 days. Sadly swimming pool out of action for 15 of those days, this was a massive negative. Had the pool been in action, and there been some remorse from the owners I would have rated it much highet.

We initially picked this site as it was a convenient stopping point when travelling with our caravan from Souilliac to Carnac and it was listed by the Caravan Club. It turned out to be a delightful site on the outskirts of Airvault and the English owners made us feel very welcome. It is in a good position to explore the western end of the Loire with places such as Saumur, Angers and Villandry all within easy reach. Airvault itself is well worth exploring especially the Church and has a small but lively market. If you are travelling in this part of France give this site a go but do obey the advice on getting there!
