The stay was tranquil. The rooms are spacious and furnished with quality essentials. No need to bring your own fancy whine/champagne glasses, they have you sorted. There is a generator which kicks in immediately, plus the wife is fire. The scenery at the restaurant is absolutely amazing, tranquil and beautiful. The food was great, just unfortunate that they don't serve lunch and dinner on Monday's and Tuesdays. The staff is friendly. Jeffrey is one of the best waiters ever, its as if he rehearses before going to the tables. Blessing is an absolute doll. The animals are cute, we saw a few. I would definitely recommend it.
From the amazing setting, to the fantastic staff and management - they are ALL fabulous - this is our home from home in Africa. THE place to stay anywhere near Jo'burg. Animals, dawns and sunsets over the lake. Wow!
The biggest secret in Johannesburg. Stornoway beats any 5 star hotel hands down. The staff still has that family welcome as it was in the time of Bruce. The geo location is ideal for meeting clients or attending meetings.
Everything was perfect from the food to the Jacuzzi and the environment is great not forgetting the staff they were very friendly...We really enjoyed our stay. We are definitely going to come back again
Food was good, staff friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the chicken livers and Cocktails were delicious. Breakfast was tasty and there was a variety to choose from. Will definitely go back. Still need to try out the beach bar on the property
I booked the lakeside cottage for my boyfriend's birthday in January 2022 to the biggest disappointment! The jacuzzi was not heated when we arrived at 15h00. I booked the room because of the jacuzzi. I whatsapped the reception to inform them about the cold jacuzzi, the receptionist came to the room just to tell me that the jacuzzi will only be warm after 6 hours that time we checked in at 15h00, the jacuzzi was supposed to be warm already coz check in is from 14h00. We did some spa treatments and finished around 6pm and jacuzzi was still cold that we had to ask the spa ladies to use one of their buckets to fill the jacuzzi with geyser water. Day was so spoiled R2500 down the drain. The next day we got our breakfast and my eggs was black/greyish told reception again and she just said sorry the manager Beth will contact me, still waiting for Beth to call two months later!…
The lodge was good, clean and just as advertised. They should look at including activities for adults as the place is secluded and far from everything. Also the resturant on site (Fat olive) should look at having a buffet breakfast and dinner as their menu is very limited.
We booked in on 31/12/2021. This was a gift to my boyfriend, thanks to Covid he lost his brother, all around crap year. And it saddened me to see what I paid for. The staff exceptionally friend, but that was it. I was under the impression that I booked a spa bath with the jacuzzi outside as we saw weather might be risky. Got the jacuzzi great, no spa bath, no hairdryer 2 x white torn bath towels. I asked reception for more towels and again torn and terrible looking towels. The hairdryer I could only get around 7h00 the next morning as it was booked out??? What? The weather was terrible with massive storms, so unfortunately all our things outside and drinks next to jacuzzi landed inside, with the wind this happening while trying to look for a dryer. Next thing the electricity in the laundry tripped it caused our unit to be in darkness and it was on and of all night At 00H00 Total darkness no one to be seen no one answering phones.....It was switched back on at 4H10 by Restaurant Staff. This is most definitely not a ****4 star hotel. Thr unit stank terribly like rotten grass, and Jacuzzi is n view of people eating at the restaurant....Things like that should be mentioned I was disgusted and ashamed by what happened I could not wait to leave was not going to try breakfast either. What you tell the guests what will be in the room should be. And surely NEWS EVE you prepare for anything that could go wrong. Was horrible will never return again. R2000 for the night? No I don't think so. So sorry it was a mess…
The welcome upon arrival was not too great. The front desk lady made us feel as though we should not be there. The room was not ready even though we came after check in time. The electricity went out for a bit early evening and we still do not know why. Wifi was promised but did not work in the room, but worked at the restaurant. The shower water pressure was horrible,, just trickled. The room was beautiful and had everything that was needed for self catering. Attention to detail definitely was there. The breakfast was good and service at the restaurant was excellent. All the staff in general on the property by the Paddle boat to the farm area was great! The activities are awesome. Lots to do for kiddies and adults. The entire property is well kept and beautiful. Will definitely visit there again. …
We arrived at the lodge, there was no electricity due to load shedding and a they had issues with a panel. We had to wait two hours for a room that was at a lower rate then our initial booking. The next morning we had no electricity in that room and decided to check out and I'm still waiting for my refund. Will never book there again.
