I have stayed in Zanzi Resort in February this year and it was a lovely surprise.
The property is beautiful and excelent would still not be fair enough to describe the whole staff.

If you want privacy this is a place to be. A hotel where every room is a private villa where you have the freedome to have your meals either in the room or beach or jetty, whenever you wish and pay noting more for it is definlately a huge advantage of this place.

We were lucky to have a romantic dinner at the beach. It was beautiful and carefully prepared, something we will never forget.

In which concerns the food is is amazing and very healthy!

About the activities, I would recomend the sand bank, one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had with lunch prepared in advance in the middle of a desert island!

Al in all, I would definately recomend it!

We have just got back from a four night stay at Zanzi Resort and our only regret is that we didn’t stay for a week. From the moment we arrived, the staff at Zanzi went above and beyond to ensure our stay was truly memorable.
The hotel is about 45 minutes away from the airport and our driver was ready and waiting once we had collected our baggage.
Once we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by Nivot.
Once shown to the room, we were delighted by the size of the villa and the pool itself. We also had private access to the beach which was an unexpected bonus.
We had the half board package and looked forward to the evening meal which changed on a daily basis. Michael and Meshack did a fantastic job in looking after us whenever we went for lunch or dinner.
When walking through the grounds to go to the pier or beach, you are always welcomed by a friendly ‘jambo’.
On our last day, we were given complimentary late check out. With the late check out, we were able to truly maximise our last day at Zanzi.

After visiting several top resorts in Zanzibar, my family and I have fallen in love with the Zanzi Resort and came back here again. It offers the most authentic and luxurious setting as well as genuine care for the guests 24/7.
It’s perfect both for a romantic or family trip and solo travelers as it has a mixture of secluded private atmosphere and a variety of amazing excursions. I have visited the Sandbanks, Prison Island and Chetahs Rock, all of which I highly recommend, next time coming to visit the others as well:)
The food and the restaurant at the resort are also Top, very fresh and delicious, and I was lucky to witness a live band and dancing, which I’m especially grateful for as during these difficult times everything is closed in Austria, so dancing and listening to great life music was a pure joy!
Whoever is reading this in 2020, don’t hesitate to travel to Zanzibar despite the unprecedented times, Zanzi Resort is really safe as they always take care of the safety measures.
Thank you, or “Asante” to everyone, looking forward to coming back again!🌴

We just returned from our 5 night stay Zanzi. It was absolutely amazing! I'm the type of person that reads practically every review about a resort before I stay, and I sometimes tend to be let down after reading all the stellar reviews with the resort not living up. Zanzi completely outdid itself, even after reading hundreds of reviews, my expectations were still exceeded.
The resort itself is stunning, set in a lush tropical forest and the (2nd)best part about it is the privacy, they only have 12 or 13 villas so you'll never feel crowded like you can at most large scale resorts. Our stay was so peaceful and exactly the reprieve we needed from our busy lives.

Now the best part of our stay was the staff, they were so incredibly friendly and every request was met with a smile and fast, efficient service. We even enjoyed a private dinner on the jetty one night to celebrate my husbands birthday and they came with a little surprise (I won't give it away, you'll just have to stay to find out :P)

Not only is there is no fee on room service, there are also phones places around the resort IE jetty, pool, beach for you to call and order drinks and food etc. Breakfast doesn't have a specific timing so can you order when suits you. Dinner, oh boy where do I start?! We are huge foodies and we LOVED the food! Their chef is a rare talent indeed, everything from the flavours & the presentation to the pairing was DELICIOUS.

The sea can be a little difficult to access particularly during low tide so they built a beautiful long jetty from which you can swim/snorkel from or even just sit and watch the stunning sunset. It's not the same sand and water that you find further north but the hotel offers day trips to Nungwi among other places. (We stayed in Nungwi a few nights before we came to Zanzi resort and we could have easily made it a day trip. Nungwi does have beautiful beaches but that is ruined hoards of tourists and vendors trying to get you to buy something every 5 mins.)

As the resort is built around a tropical forest there is so much beautiful wildlife, if you keep your eyes peeled you might be lucky enough to see some very cute animals. (N.B this resort is set in a tropical forest so if you can't handle a few small critters, you should probably look for a vacation in an urbanised city, not a tropical paradise. Having said that we used the repellent they provided and had zero issues with mosquitos, they also have mosquito nets for when you sleep).

In short, I would absolutely recommend Zanzi resort to anyone looking for a relaxing or romantic holiday.

A special thanks to Emeline, Nivot and all the staff for such a fantastic stay.

We have been incredibly fortunate to have travelled to many spots across the world. We have always wanted to travel to Zanzibar but never really found the right moment. We booked Zanzi having learned wonderful things about it online. Without any hesitation, Zanzi was not only ‘one of the best’ we have stayed at across our extensive travels; it was ‘THE BEST’.

Simply put, it’s the staff that make this place what it is. They are incredibly warm and hospitable people, nothing was ever an issue; the true meaning of Hakuna Matata (a saying you’ll hear quite a lot at at Zanzi!) It was my girlfriends birthday on on our third night, I secretly requested a surprise to be presented during our dinner at the pier (highly recommended by the way). We were completely overjoyed to have the Manaii tribe, led by Joshua from the service team, deliver a cake to our table and perform a traditional dance in front of us. We were close to tears of joy, we had never experienced anything like it before! It was a very special experience, and will remain in our memories for many years to come.

On the note of food, every dish we had was completely faultless and absolutely delicious. It is clear the chef has invested a lot of time and effort in to developing the menus.

On a final note, I would highly recommend the ocean access villa. Indeed it is more expensive, but the private pool and access to the ocean was unbeatable (we stayed in both garden and ocean access villas).

Although all the staff were fantastic, special thanks to Joshua who made my girlfriends birthday so amazing. And to Nivot who was the first to welcome us and ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay.

Thank you Zanzi team, we can’t wait to see you again one day!

Jamie and Tal

This is a quiet boutique hotel set in a very large enclosure - like being in a manicured jungle. All the villas are huge and very private. The service is great and there are plenty of smiling staff waiting to help. It is a long way from anywhere really, so interpret quiet as you wish. The hotel was happy to arrange transfers from Stonetown and to the airport, even though our flight back was very early.

The hotel is offered on a half board basis which is sensible, as apart from returning to Stonetown there is nowhere to eat. Fear not, the food is particularly good.

The other exceptional feature is the jetty. There is not really a beach, but the jetty juts 60m or so out into the Indian Ocean with some shaded sunbeds at the end of it - so 270 degree views of the Ocean, and a cool breeze too. And excellently located for superb sunsets when the weather allows.

We stayed 5 nights having already stayed in Stonetown for several nights and that was the perfect combination. Would have been a bit too quiet for us for any longer, although there are of course excursions that the Hotel will arrange.

We loved our time there and we were sad to leave.

We spent six wonderful days as a family of four in Ocean Villa No. 1 with its own pool. The complex is a unique oasis in the middle of the jungle with the service of a five-star hotel. Of course, the charm is that the hotel is so small and you are really on your own. Everything is very clean, the service is very attentive, and the staff is uniquely friendly and helpful throughout. There is breakfast until well into midday, food all the time. The Jetty is also a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset or just swim in the clear and clean sea. The two excursions organised by the hotel to a spice farm and to Stone Town, as well as the sunset cruise with the hotel's own dhow were also very nice experiences. We can only highly recommend the Zanzi. It is one of the most beautiful resorts we have ever been to.

This place is just incredible! The best place to be when you need some peaceful time to relax. Villa is just amazing, with private pool, ocean view and a piece of private beach (when low tide). The stuff is great- friendly, helpful, on time, always smiling.
Restaurant is very charming, very tasty food. They have even place in the restaurant for bush baby to come and eat some fruits ;)
Jeti is the best place to eat a dinner during the sunset. Just stunning. There is phone so you can order food or drinks whenever you need any.
I couldn't imagine better time to spend with my friends, or even with myself when I needed some time alone with book and drink :)
General manager is always there to support or answer any questions. They all made me feel like a princess haha ;)
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who expects to be treated on a higher standard, in the middle of beautiful jungle/bush, with 100% privacy.
Place to be! Thank you Zanzi resort :))) I'll be back for sure :)

Best vacation of my life!!! Amazing & most green Resort I have ever seen with exceptional guest service from all team members at Zanzi. The kindness and professionalism of Zanzi staff is simply amazing, reading in your eyes every single wish. Excellent breakfest, lunch and dinner. Breakfasts have no time limit and I could have it anywhere: waking up at 2pm and ordering it to the Jetty or garden … I was waking up with a smile on my face every single day.
But the best were dinners.. Chef Mudy creates new dinner menu every single day. During 10 days at the Resort every dish I tried was different! And the best were music evenings: local bands, BBQ, Masai dances…

And , of course, DOLPHINS! I was paddling with them almost every day, in the afternoon and before the sunset ! SUP boards are totally free, even you ask Masai at the beach and they put it into the ocean for you:)

The last but not the least, we went to the sand bank - totally empty sand island that appears during the low tide in the middle of the ocean. I was snorkelling a lot there and saw many starfish of all colour and a lot of sea urchins. That is why don’t forget a special shoes and a snorkelling mask (ask at the reception).

Thank you everyone, especially Yulia, Katerina, Emmanuel (for singing !!), Meshak, Mohammed, Nivot, Joshua and Chef Mudy for making my vacation unforgettable! And special thanks to all Masai !!!

My recent stay at Zanzi Resort was nothing short of a dreamlike experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the resort's picturesque setting and lavish amenities. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the exceptional food, with a particular emphasis on their delectable seafood offerings. Each meal was presented beautifully and was packed with unique and powerful flavours, making you feel like you are at a Michelin-star restaurant. A 5-course dinner was phenomenal and along with the calming ambience and attentive service made it a dining experience to cherish forever.

Upon arriving at our villa, we were immediately struck by its pristine condition, seclusion and quality. Nestled amidst lush tropical foliage, our private villa offered tranquillity and a breathtaking view of the ocean. The icing on the cake was the exclusive private access to a pristine beach, where we could indulge in relaxation and unwind to the sound of gentle waves as well as experience a stunning sunset every night.

The villa's private swimming pool added an extra touch of luxury, allowing us to cool off in complete privacy while soaking in the scenic surroundings. The immaculate cleanliness of the villa was beyond commendable, and the attention to detail by the housekeeping staff was exemplary.

The resort's staff was undoubtedly the heart and soul of the experience. Warm, courteous, and attentive, they went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met. The room service was prompt, efficient and most importantly at no extra charge, and the staff's local knowledge and recommendations added a personalised touch to our stay.

All in all, Zanzi Resort is the epitome of luxury and hospitality. From the exceptional cuisine to the private beach access and swimming pool, every aspect of our stay was designed for perfection. The attentive staff, array of activities, including a spa, and pristine villa made this experience truly outstanding. I cannot recommend Zanzi Resort enough for anyone seeking an unforgettable retreat. It's a gem that should not be missed.
