Hotel's Favourite

We have just checked out after 7 blissful days at the Royal Senses. This was exactly the break we needed, beautiful surroundings, exceptional staff and a relaxed, chic resort. I wish I could award 6 stars.

Check in
Smooth and seamless, we arrived at 2am and were greeted with welcome juices and a selection of pastries and were swiftly whisked to our room by golf buggy. The 5 star treatment started, despite the late check in time. The hotel had left a plate of baklava in our room.

Room
We stayed in room 1320, a deluxe sea view room. Beautifully appointed with a spectacular view over the pool, Royal Blue resort and the vast sea. Sunsets were spectacular. All amenities taken care of, robes and slippers, iron and ironing board, safe, Nespresso machine and fridge. Housekeeping were great, we accidentally left our do not disturb on all day while we were out. One call to reception and the room was cleaned and water and chocolates left for us. As we arrived, the weather was stormy and our room was very warm in the evening. We were told the AC was switched off due to it being out of season, some nights were uncomfortable and we did sleep with the balcony doors open. On our last few nights the AC was switched back on (perhaps due to temperatures of 24+) and we enjoyed very restful sleep. The bed was very comfortable, it would be great to have a pillow menu and turndown service - not essential but always lovely. The resort is very quiet at night, which was perfect for us. One evening the fire alarm went off for around an hour in our block, staff were quick to sort this out and the next day we arrived back to our room to find a note and a bottle of red wine to apologise for the inconvenience. A very thoughtful touch.

Pool and Beach
There are 2 beautiful pools at the front of the hotel, one heated and one saltwater. Another pool is located outside the spa and one heated pool inside/outside the spa. Sun loungers are plentiful and there seems to be a strict no reservation policy, which is great. Guests have access to the Royal Blue beach and pool, highly recommended a walk here at sunset. Drinks can be charged to your Royal Senses room from the Royal Blue.

Spa
We loved the spa, it’s the largest in Crete and beautiful. There is a sauna, hammam and steam room and lots of seating to relax with a hot drink. We had the Global Facial, 90 minutes of bliss. Therapists are welcoming and experts. Spa is worth the additional charge, especially when the weather is unpredictable. We used the gym everyday, it’s small but has 3 treadmills, a cross trainer and a bike. There are free weights and machines too. Download the app when you arrive to see the fitness classes. Water and gym towels are available at the gym.

Food
Out of this world good. We love Greek food and every meal we had was excellent, from breakfast to lunch and the buffet in the evening. Highlights were the Traditional Dakos and Pork Gyros. If you can go half board, do, you will not be disappointed. The dessert chef is a genius. Wines were excellent too, we recommend the Klado (the winery is about 15 mins from the hotel!) and Open Book are both excellent white wines. All of the waiting staff are excellent, super friendly and care that you have a lovely experience. The staff are honestly some of the best we have experienced in a 5 star resort. Welcome Raki at dinner and complimentary fizz at breakfast were lovely touches. Dining outside is wonderful, pack a jacket for October evenings as it can drop a little chilly.

Location
The resort is in a remote location, so perfect for people wanting to relax and unwind. It’s around an hour from Heraklion airport. Panormos is about a 40 minute walk, there is also a little train you can catch in the afternoon, which returns hourly. Panormos is worth a walk around, there are some lovely little restaurants. We hired a car at the hotel and visited Chania and Rethymno, both well worth a visit and have lovely Venetian ports as well as beautiful streets. The hotel is spread over the hillside which means you need to catch the funicular to get up and down (this could be slow when it got busy at breakfast and dinner times).

Amenities
There is a store on site and a supermarket located across the road. There are also a few boutiques, clothes and jewellery and a hair salon on site. The Lobby bar has live music, we didn’t use this as we prefer to eat dinner and then relax. There are 4 restaurants - worth downloading the app to see the menus. At the pool, every lounger/umbrella has a call button for when you wish to have drinks.

Clientele
There are a variety of nationalities at the hotel, a mixture of age ranges and some families with young children and babies. All children we encountered were well supervised by their parents and well behaved.

Check out
We have a super late flight and requested a late checkout, which the hotel were able to oblige. We were so grateful as it meant our last day was spent by the pool relaxing before getting packed and ready to go. Checkout was super slick, we were given water for our onward journey and offered juice and pastries.

We could not have asked for better service or a more relaxing, chic stay. We will definitely return to the Royal Senses.

My mum and I travel around the world and I can (without regret) say it was one of the best hotels we have even been to. Very clean, modern, helpful and very very kind. The lights during the night create a beautiful atmosphere around the hotel!

The room was stunning! We booked the room with the sea-view and shared swimming pool. One of the best decisions ever. Not only you will wake up to a beautiful sunrise in the morning, you can always open up the curtains, and the balcony door, and enjoy the beautiful view from your king size bed. The cleaning ladies were the kindest! They clean your room twice a day - in the morning a full clean of the room and in the evening they come to check to change the towels (twice in a day) and leave extra water bottles. Which was very thoughtful of them! :)

The hotel staff was AMAZING! Especially Anthi in the main restaurant and Marco in the bars. Kind and warm-hearted people! :)
Every single staff is very helpful and kind. Smiley and cheerful, always happy to help! With the most littlest favour ever, they are there to assist you. We couldn’t be happier!

There are different swimming pools, which are great, and loads of spaces to sunbath. Beautiful sun beds with curtains are amazing for pictures, as they overlook the sea ;) would definitely recommend taking some photos there!

I booked a Spa massage for my mum and she said it was one of the most relaxing ones she ever had and within a reasonable price range. You just need to book it a few days beforehand as they get booked up pretty quickly.

They have a local shop and a jewellery store within the hotel. As well as a photographer that takes gorgeous photo shoots for couples.

They have different restaurants across the hotel and few during the day and the food was delicious! Wide range of different things to chose from. Huge cheese and meat platters alongside fresh fruits. They had a pizza oven and it was one of the best pizza’s I ate! Definitely grab a slice or two when your there ;)

Overall, we couldn’t be happier and prise this hotel enough! The overall experience and the way we were treated was beyond our expectations. We will definitely be back!! :) :) :)

We had initially two different bookings (at two different stages of our vacation) for hotel Numo, a new hotel of the Troulis Royal collection group (owning three hotels in Crete) on Crete’s south coast near the town of Ierapetra. Hotel Numo was unfortunately not ready to open due to ongoing construction, hence we were rebooked into The Royal Senses hotel. Although it was disappointing to be rebooked from the unspoiled southern coast to the, in my view, less interesting northern part of Crete, the Royal Senses hotel (not to be confused with the Royal Blue hotel) is stunning. It is brand new – just open for about four weeks. Our room, 1110 was great. At first it was somewhat disappointing that this room did not have Seaview, as there was a wall in front (from the restaurant building), but we had a lovely garden with nice lawn (providing much more outdoor space than the rooms with just a balcony), which was great for us. Check-in was smooth and efficient. On arrival we were welcomed with a cold facial towel as well as a welcome drink and were directed to the lobby where we could complete the paperwork. After the paperwork was completed, we were escorted to our room. We loved the design and materials used. Also, the room was rather large and provided a nice seating area as well as a large outdoor area.

Unfortunately, the gym and spa area were still under construction during our stay (but they may have opened at the time of writing this review). Luckily, I was allowed to use the gym of the sister hotel, just down the road (the Royal Blue) – note that the gym needs to be reserved to avoid overcrowding in light of the current Covid related restrictions. Also, the wellness area (steam room, hammam etc.) are closed for pandemic reasons. This is unfortunate, hotel management may want to consider opening these facilities to vaccinated people only if they would like to reduce risks.

Our stay included breakfast and dinner, both served in the buffet restaurant. Both were excellent and all staff members were doing a fantastic job. Choice was excellent, both for breakfast and dinner, with a huge variety of different hot and cold dishes and a mouthwatering desert buffet.

Probably the greatest part of this hotel is the pool landscape. There are two large infinity pools, one saltwater pool and one freshwater pool. Both were at a perfect swimming temperature, and it was just great hanging out around the pool area. As the hotel is new, the gardens/ green areas still need a bit of time to grow/ develop, but I am sure that in a year or so things will look a lot greener.

All in all, a fantastic hotel – and a guarantee for a relaxing stay.

Dear Dennis, thank you for your visit at The Royal Senses and your feedback, which is very much appreciated. It is a pleasure reading that you enjoyed your stay with us and our team exceeded all your expectations. In regard to your suggestion for opening the steam room and the hammam we would like to inform you that this, unfortunately, is not possible, as it is not allowed to open these facilities by the Greek law. This is not a decision which was made by the hotel! Thanking you once again, we are confident that in case you will visit us again everything will be grown up and much more green in our gardens. With kind regards Aggelos Antoniou Hotel Director

Everything about this hotel is wonderful and my boyfriend and I had a fantastic stay!

Starting with the room, I definitely recommend going for one with a private pool as we loved ours and really enjoyed the floating breakfast option. The room itself was spacious, clean and a good layout (the bed faces the ocean which made for a brilliant view waking up).

Moving to food, we went for the half board option and were very impressed with everything on offer. The half board is breakfast and dinner but if you wanted to go elsewhere for dinner, you can also get a lunch voucher which was useful. We spent one evening in the on-site restaurant "Cretamos" where we had a wonderful tasting menu with matching Cretan wines which was definitely a highlight. The views from this restaurant are really extraordinary so make sure you are there for sunset. All the hostesses at the buffet were delightful and really made us feel very welcome at every meal. The wine selection is also very good and the waiters had very good knowledge of which local wines to have.

The spa and gym are also great and well equipped. Again, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and any treatments also come with time in the "relaxation room" with teas and coffee. A top tip would be to use the pools up at this area as we found them to be quieter than the main pool area with no children! That said, we never had any trouble finding beds at the main pool area and being able to order food and drinks at the push of a button was very cool.

In terms of location, the hotel is in quite a remote area so I would recommend hiring a car to see some of the sights of Crete. This is very easy to do as the hotel has a lovely man who is available every day to hire cars from. We ended up hiring for just 1 day and went on a little road trip to Knossos and then on to Elounda (the car hire man recommended a beautiful route along the coast). There is also a shuttle-car available every 30 minutes to take people to the private beach at their sister hotel.

Overall, we had an absolutely fantastic time and couldn't recommend this hotel and all its wonderful staff more. We were slightly nervous reading some of the reviews from last year (when the hotel had just opened) but had absolutely no reason to be as everything was perfect! We hope to return one day soon.

Whether you are a young couple, retired or a family with young children like us this resort has it all. Only two years old so everything is in perfect condition, the designers have thought of everything. All rooms are private, spacious and have sea views.. The pools are huge and there are sun beds for all! The water slide pools are away from the relaxing main pools but are so much fun for kids and adults alike.

The best bit for us was the Kids Club. It’s huge and has amazing facilities with climbing frames and different indoor sections away from the heat. There are many staff who are so friendly. You can leave kids there between 10am and 6pm if they are more than 3 years old. It’s above 4 yrs at many resorts so this was a huge plus for us. We tended to use it for a couple of hours over lunch, they give the children a lovely lunch, complimentary!

The restaurant we used for breakfast and dinner was huge and had every food you could possibly want. All replenished frequently. The staff were again so friendly and helpful.

We ventured into the local town, Panormos for one evening, just to soak in the local atmosphere. Found a lovely place to eat local food, Taverna Geronymos, highly recommended.

All in all, this is a hotel for everyone. So relaxing, beautiful sunsets, brand new facilities and the best kids club we’ve ever seen. Awesome…

We stayed here for 4 nights, check in was a treat with refreshing face towels, a cold drink and little cakes. The room was lovely, very comfortable, excellent rain shower with good water pressure, lovely view of the sea and a nice balcony. The sink area is a bit dark and there is no make up mirror (or any other mirror with enough lighting for this). A couple of hooks for hand towels would also be a useful addition. There is a variety of swimming pools, all beautiful. One has water slides suitable for adults too and the staff at this pool welcomed us with a smile and drink of cold water. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent with a wide variety of tasty food and the restaurant staff are friendly & helpful. There is a convenient shuttle to the beach, it has plenty of sun beds and is good for sunbathing & swimming but rather rocky & pebbly and from most places no view out to the sea.
There is ample parking but most of it is down a slope, so if you have luggage, we suggest dropping it off beside the reception before parking.
Although the hotel appeared to be very full, it was relaxing and peaceful and the way it is spread out over a large area, didn't feel crowded at any time. One morning there was a saxophone player at breakfast which was great background music and in the evenings live music outside.
We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights with our 5 year old daughter. This hotel is truly amazing. They arranged our pick up from the airport against a good rate. We had the king family suite and was perfect for our stay. The room is very clean and has a great atmosphere. We really liked it. You get on a daily basis two water bottles. If you want other drinks or snacks you can buy this at the mini market in the hotel or at the supermarket in front of the hotel (7min walk). Our room was closely located to the hotel bar and pool bar. When your sitting outside you could enjoy every evening the music that was playing which you wouldn't hear in your room with the door shut. So it's very well isolated and never heard noises out of the connecting rooms.
The breakfast buffet is one of the best you will ever see and very tastfull with a wide variaty of food. The staff is very friendly and is working day and night to give you the best holiday experience. The lunch at Platio is really good and we enjoyed the local Greek dishes. In the evenings you can have dinner at various restaurants. We really liked Mitato restaurant and enjoyed the amazing sunsets during our dinners.
The hotel has several pools and a water park. We spent most of our time at the waterpark as our daughter enjoyed the slides a lot. Because there are many options for swimming you don't have the feeling that it's very busy.
The hotel also has a kids club with many activities if you would be interested in that.
They also have a co-operation with the hotel at the beach (Royal Blue). They have a shuttle every 30mins that will bring you the beach or pick you up. You can also have dinner at their restaurants.
There is also an option to rent a car in the hotel which we did for one day and did a bit of side seeing and visited local museums (honey museum) and traditional Greece potteries.
The Spa at the hotel is also very nice which offers various treatments.
Overall we had an amazing stay and enjoyed the great views. Thank you to the wonderfull staff and we will for sure return one day to this hotel.

We arrived in the evening with a very warm welcome with welcome drinks and experienced our dinner while the receptionist completed our check in.
We were brought by a golf car to our stylish Grand Deluxe room with Shared Pool where we were welcomed with a small snack.

Our room was very invitable and warm colored, which gave us a relaxing time.
The overall design and interior of the room was made very precisely, especially the lighting system as well as the oversized bed and a comfortable sofa.
In the morning, we had a breathtaking view over the sea and in the evening we had wonderful sunsets from the patio. The patio itself is equipped with two sunsets, a comfortable sofa and a ladder to dry the wet clothes.
Our housekeeping was provided two times per day, we got everything we needed (towels, water, coffee tabs…) and the room was everyday very clean.

The dining facilities are the same for breakfast and dinner. At the entrance we were always welcomed and seated by a friendly and attentive hostess who asked for our wishes. The high quality was great and the variety for breakfast and dinner was large. For breakfast we always got fresh orange juice and coffe made by a barista.

At the pool area, we always had free choice of the comfortable sunbeds and had the feeling of relaxing and silent sunbaths.

The reception was attentive as well, they even called for help during check out or a early breakfast. Nevertheless we sometimes had the feeling that more complex situation aren’t solved easily and need some time to resolve it with the supervisor.

All in all, we can highly recommend The Royal Senses. It was a unique, warm and enjoyable experience with a lot of memories!

Recently spent 10 nights at this impressively designed, brand new hotel.
The rooms are spread over quite a large site and we either used the funicular or walked to reach the pool/restaurant.
Our room, the most basic on offer had a large balcony and a good view over the pool and then the sea in the distance. Fantastic bed, good wardrobe space. Can't comment on TV as we didn't watch it!! Loved the his and hers sinks. We would have liked an additional waste bin which would have fitted under said sinks as there was just the one in the loo. With the doors shut we didn't hear a thing apart from the odd door closing.
We only used the main buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner as it was included in our package but we did eat in Panormos on a couple of evenings. Food was very good, plentiful and huge choice, particularly of salads. The only negative was that we found ourselves invariably shown to a table at both breakfast and dinner where we were surrounded on all sides by families with young children. I appreciate that this was sometimes unavoidable and this is not a dig at other guests but it would have been nice to have a quiet, adult meal at the end of the day.
My only other negative would be the smell which was worse on some days than others. It was overpowering in our shower and loo but I have to set it to one side and assume that if something could be done then it would be.
Overall, we had a fabulous holiday. We felt comfortable, cosseted and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The pools are fab, the staff unfailingly lovely, hard-working and put up with, shall we say, the more challenging guest with diplomacy.
To anyone thinking of booking for 2022 I think you will really enjoy it here. The plants will have come into their own and hopefully any negative comments will have been acted upon.
Finally, I just want to mention Demitrios and Janina in Geo restaurant. Always a smile and going the extra mile. It has been a shocking time over the last eighteen months and the travel industry has been hit hard. Thank you for your service and best wishes for 2022 and beyond.

Our first time in Crete and we chose this hotel due to it being part of Hilton and being new.
We stayed in deluxe room with a private pool.
As soon as we arrived we was welcomed by Lea (I think that was her name, long blonde hair Girl) who has only been working at this resort for 2 months which I think she is a credit to the hotel who’s so friendly. Other staff there I would say it’s a hit and miss. Some days they are friendly sometimes not. Hence I’ve took away a Star for this review.
I’ve stayed in many Hotels around the world and I do feel Royal senses is lacking a little on the service part especially being a 5 star hotel.
The servers in the restaurant are amazing we always got our drinks fairly quick. The hosts who show us to the tables felt like it was “here’s your table” and just walks away so sometimes no interaction but apart from that the food was good. Lots of choices at breakfast and dinner.
The room was nice but already showing signs of wear and tear.
We booked an excursion through Jasmine (guests relations) we had a great day visiting Knossos Palace if only Jasmine was a little More interactive with me I would have given 5 stars.
Apart from the service that can be a hit and miss the hotel is nice and clean.
Rooms are all on a steep level so sometimes walking back to the rooms can get tiring but going back to our private pool was worth it.
We was lucky enough to get one where no one can walk past our room and despite a couple of days with no sun, the terrace and pool was amazing when the sun did come out.
Room was cleaned twice daily unfortunately our first day the room mini bar was Empty, it was only refilled the day after.
Shame I couldn’t put my Hilton points onto my account because I booked through a third party.
But apart from that my partner and I had a lovely time here at Royal Senses, a break we needed and we shall visit again and would definitely consider staying here again.

Dear Gabriel M, thank you for contacting us. Half board includes breakfast and dinner buffet. Half board guests can enjoy an a la carte dinner (instead of their buffet dinner at the main restaurant) at the Mitato or Cretamos Restaurant, by using a discount voucher of Euro 15,00 per adult / Euro 7,50 per child. Also, you can make use of our Dine around option at our sister hotel The Royal Blue (“Asterias” and “Elia” a la carte dinner restaurants) with the same discount voucher. (Drinks are not included during meals) Kindly note that this discount was valid through 2023 season and may vary for 2024. Hoping to have the pleasure of welcoming you next year, we remain With kind regards Barbara Dunner Administration

Hi. Yes, as far as I know for the short time I was there I could see ramps in few places, e.g. to the reception and restaurant. Rooms are located in the hill with a pathway to/from the houses as well as an elevator situated in the center between the two restaurants. Upon arrival they drive you in a golf cart to your room. I am not familiar with the pool area, SPA and the waterslides area but I would assume the same standard.
