Love the location of the hotel and amazing service. It’s just 5-10 min from airport( depend on traffic) and hotel has everything that u want for your holiday. We chose this place for our family trip and we feel the staff really take care of little detail. However we are all vegetarian and food price is too pricy for what we get. Just a plate of pasta cost you 900 baht net which had spaghetti, olive oil, and chill in it ( aglio olio)! It’s surprising that this amount is not something for Thai people to be happy with and as per my travel experience I haven’t seen any hotel in Europe/US charge this high either. So check food price before you order anything here!!! I would recommend a take away which would cost you 3 times less per meal :) but if u r a millionaire then spend it to help our Thai economy...lol

We are a young professional couple working in Hong Kong and travelled to Koh Samui for a long weekend trip in February.

The hotel is the biggest resort in Koh Samui and located directly next to the beach. Although the biggest resort, all the rooms and villas are distant from each other which provides the maximal intimacy to the guest. We were lucky to get a room with amazing sea view.

What makes our stay at Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui so outstanding is absolutely the service. We were welcomed by Mayeul, he is not only a French native speaker but also fluent in English. He and his thoughtful service has accompanied our complete stay. We told him one day ahead about our diving day. Next morning, we got towels in our transfer. As we came back to the room, a surprise was waiting for us: fresh coconut, local Thai dessert and a hand drawn picture with us diving in Koh Tao.. We were speechless and overwhelmed how thoughtful Mayeul is.

Generally all the hotel staff are so helpful and friendly with positive vibes, they always provided service beyond our expectation. Some outstanding staff names: Mayeul from the front desk, Pla from restaurant, Milk from the Spa..

We further recommend all the Koh Samui visitors to Ritz Carlton, you won't be disappointed here!

Will have to say I have only one word for our full family experience at the Ritz Samui, Wonderful! Starting from the lobby check in right to the check out on our last day , it’s been an unbelievably wonderful experience for me and my family. The service was impeccable, the whole staff of the resort were attuned to our every wish , would like to thank Ms Sawittri Sinder (Lily) , the Sales Coordinate , for all her help in the arrangements made for us , to Mint at the pool bar where her food recommendations worked very well for us, and more than a few word of thanks to Ms Mariia, the resort manager. She made it a point to meet us everyday at the breakfast place to enquiry about our daily experience at the resort. But our stay would not have been the best resort stay we have ever experienced without the full support we got from Mr Mohannad, the Sales Director of Ritz. He went out of his way to make sure all our requests were fully granted and counted for, especially the birthday wishes and cake arrangements for my daughter and son. The Exclusive Pool Villa was top notch , beautifully done with a full view of the ocean expanse. Food wise though, would have to mention, needs quite a bit of improvement, in house restaurant option wise and price wise, especially the sky high price per dish at the Ranch which is absolutely not justified . Buggy services was very efficient and prompt, house keeping service very polite and good as should be expected from a 5 star property. The spa massage was good but quite on the steep side, would be good if Ritz could take this into consideration for future guests.
Overall , we had a wonderful, wonderful time at the resort and am already looking forward to the next trip whenever possible with the whole family. Thank you again .

We stayed here for New Years and while there is a lot going for this sprawling resort in Samui and the potential is there for it to be an absolutely standout destination hotel but unfortunately it is let down by some niggling elements which undermine the overall experience and leave it falling short of what you would expect from a Ritz Carlton hotel (and the associated price-tag).

The Positives
Breakfast: best we have ever had. Incredible selection of extremely high quality, beautiful room, well staffed. Faultless
Rooms: stunning, spacious, amazing bed, tech specifications etc. Highest of quality (though our room lacked a view to write home about)
Staff: attentive and helpful and trying their best. The layout of the facility makes the whole place difficult to manage. Wonderful turn down service
Facilities: gym and Muay Thai boxing area are brilliant and a big novelty which was great to have. Tennis court is brilliant

The Negatives
Check-In: rough around the edges. Beautiful area but I was nearly charged again for a booking I had paid for months in advance which is sloppy for a hotel of this caliber
Transport: getting around the resort is a major issue. There simply aren’t enough buggies to transfer people when the hotel is at capacity. We ended up walking long stretches (no major issue for us but I could see older guest finding the whole thing extremely difficult)
Pool Area: while optically it looks great, the layout is poor for sun worshippers (lots of shaded spots) and not enough beds when hotel is busy.
Value for money: while there is an expectation of high prices at any hotel of this grade, I do think the price point in the restaurants on site is a bit ridiculous for Thailand. We ate in the Thai restaurant on site on our first night, great service and very decent Thai food but our meal of 1 starter, 2 curries and a bottle of water came to $120 USD which seemed ludicrous to me. We ate in 2 other fine dining restaurants in Samui during our stay which were a significantly higher end of food and significantly cheaper. They might need to revisit this. Same goes for drinks by the pool etc, $17 for a single shot of Grey goose vodka just seems excessive to me given location. Lastly the fact that the hotel will only provide their own taxis which charge double what the local operators do (just download NaviGo!) smacks of a rip-off and undermines the overall experience in my opinion

As above, there is a lot right in this resort, the facilities and rooms are fabulous, the breakfast is a knockout and the staff are wonderful for the most part. However the negatives mentioned above are a bit of a drawback and at this price point, should be attended to in order to justify what I would normally expect.

Overall, this is a good hotel, mainly for the room and services.

Prior to this, I've had and incredible stays in the Tropical Pool Villa at Vana Belle and Ocean View Villa at Six Senses, so I'd base my review relative to those hotels.

The check-in process was prompt and friendly, as we were greeted upon arrival. As a titanium member, I got upgraded from Garden Suite to Exclusive Pool Villa, which was nice. Upon asking, the Ultimate Pool Villa was also available, but would inquire 2000++ a night for upgrade, with the only different being the view. As a side note, they have a strict member upgrade procedure, not really "the best available" room. I decided to stick with the Exclusive room first, before moved to the Ultimate the later night.

Room:
The room was incredible. It's modern, fresh, spacious, great layout/partitioning, and nicely decorated, the best among all the hotels I've stayed at. The pool is also larger that it looks in the picture, although not as large as Vana Belle villa. My nitty complains would be the small bathtub, lack of bathroom power outlet, and a lot of trees blocking the view. Later on, we moved to Ultimate pool villa which is identical, but with much better view, not for cheap though. Since the resort is huge, it might take time to get between places using buggy service was very responsive, and only got a bit slow during peak hours.

Food:
The breakfast buffet was very good quality with a decent selection. The dinner options were limited to just Pak Tai, The Ranch steakhouse, and some private dining options that would break the bank. We dined at The Ranch and had an incredible meal. High quality beef, very smokey flavor for about 3000 per person. They also have great cocktails selection at the bars.

Common Amenities
This is the area that I find the hotel lacking.
The hotel has two large swimming pool, one near the beach, and another in the spa village, which are both pretty nice. Apart from that, the beach is small and rocky, not great for swimming. Not great for water activities, which were also very limited, as there was only 2 stand-up paddle boards in the hotel. There is also no great place to watch the sunset. They seem to have the view point bar/restaurant, which were closed during our stay. The advertised fish / reef pond is sadly small, and doesn't seem practical. The spa is also extremely pricey (3000+ / hr), which most hotels were running great promotion.

Overall, I enjoy my stay, and would recommend the hotel to anyone who would spend most of the time in their villa. Otherwise, I'd consider Six Senses for more exotic/romantic vibes, or Vana Belle which is more affordable food and activities.

We as a family with a kid spent the Xmas holiday at Koh Samui and enjoyed the weather, hospitality and tranquility at Ritz.
I think Ms. Mariia and her team at hotel are doing their best to make all the guests happy ( although that is hard to make everyone satisfied!) Xmas decorations, dinner and entertainment were are good and we got many nice memories there. Staying in a Villa room with a view to the water and small pool and sitting area by the pool was just fine.
Rooms service was good . Although as the pool was so small we spent some days by the big pool and bar, and the beach was so relaxing. Transportation to the shopping centres and airport were easy and all arranged by concierge. Breakfast room was big and nicely designed, big airy room and different sittings, different sections for Asian, western stations with noodles, salad, pancakes, eggs and more. There were At least one station to satisfy even the fussy eaters;) unfortunately the kids club was not so welcoming and my son decided to go to different activities alone or with some friends at hotel. Great that they had many activities performed individually for kids, my son did : boxing, baking, feeding fish and …

Had an absolutely wonderful time at the Ritz Carlton Koh Samui and it definitely lived up to the company’s reputation as a 5 star luxury resort. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our 10 night stay.

My partner and I stayed in one of the ultimate pool villas which had an amazing view and the villa itself was very spacious and frequently cleaned by room service. The infinity pool was beautiful.

The facilities are excellent with great food in all the restaurants we attended. The breakfast spread was varied and tasty with very good pastries.

The main pool is expansive next to the beach with excellent views. The pool staff were also amazing, especially the extremely efficient pool supervisor always replenishing our water, towels and drinks who was also very friendly and kind.

The room service was also excellent with really tasty Thai and western options. Our room service staff member Sunny also must get a special mention for his friendly nature and prompt service with all the foods (which we ordered near daily!).

The staff at the Ritz Carlton Koh Samui have all been extremely accommodating since day 1, always having a smile on their faces and greeting us throughout our stay. The buggy staff always prompt and friendly. Staff member Bess also must get a special mention for coming to our villa on our request to take lots of incredible photos for us and editing them!

Staff member Pao who worked across the restaurants and pool area was also extremely kind and friendly giving us lots of help and recommendations with the Thai foods on offer.

The management also must be praised for resolving any issues we had without any fuss.

Toon also was amazing and took care of our private boating trip to some local islands. She organised our bespoke trip and frequently updated us regarding the ideal time to go as the seas have been slightly choppy.

Overall I recommend this hotel extremely highly and I have been to a multitude of 5 star luxury hotels throughout the world.

Thanks for having us! Dr Boon and Kyra x

This resort is not up to Ritz standards! It basically is not finished and looks like a construction site with exposed piping, water heaters and ac units. It is so spread out that you cannot walk from Lobby ( looks like a back entrance with decor of 1950) to your room or even pool or bfast area. Took 20 minutes to walk to our room. There is crumbling and peeling paint concrete everywhere. If you have a pool villa, know that the water is not heated and very cold. The main pool has a huge permanent screen that looks ridiculous considering you are there to see the water. We had many issues with the bill. The only good thing I can say is the that the people who work there are very kind. Especially the the resident manager - Tanzie. There is also a beautiful view from the villas too that we enjoyed. Otherwise, I would not recommend this resort.

We could not have asked for a more perfect end to our trip in Thailand. Thank you to Mint especially for helping plan a lovely private dinner and taking videos and pictures during my proposal. Private dinner comes with location options (including beach front or your private villa), and menu options (western set menu, thai set menu, bbq menu, bbq seafood menu). We were soooo surprised when we got back to our room to find that the villa was redecorated and our bathroom and bedroom adorned with towel elephants, rose petals, candles, and congratulations!

Separately need to also give Kudos to Mint and team for an incredible dining experience at Baan Talat - we were able to eat really good Thai night market food at the convenience of the property while also enjoying live music and dancing! She noticed the food was maybe a bit too spicy for me and brought over milk which was much appreciated :) Mint remembered this and gave the chef at the private dinner my spice preferences to low-medium which was perfect!

Also need to thank the property for surprising us with an upgrade to a villa even though we didn't share the trip was for anything special! I am Ambassador Elite so grateful they were able to give us this surprise upgrade! We were not expecting this and the villa was PERFECT and we really loved the layout and the private infinity pool and outdoor shower. We had just come from another villa property and this was so much better.

We did take the private shuttle to go into town and wish we had used this free shuttle service earlier. We also had a chance to use some of the free recreational activities at the resort. The Mini Golf was super easy and had 18 holes. Tennis and Basketball equipment were a little worn and could use a refresh, but adequate for casual players.

We also really enjoyed the snorkeling at the private reef at the Ritz Carlton. We had just gone snorkeling on boat excursions in Koh Tao and right before at Phuket, and were really impressed by the artificial reef at Ritz Carlton. There were so many fish and we loved seeing the variety and there were so many large fish as well!

Thank you to the Ritz Carlton Koh Samui team for making our stay memorable and perfect !

Ritz Carlton will be the always be the one we ended up with after browsing the many luxurious properties on the island.

The whole property is very well-maintained post pandemic. The terrace suite we stayed is huge and spacious, divided into 4 sections – outdoor balcony, living room, bedroom and bathroom/wardrobe area, all well-spaced. The room is well stocked with coffee machine, insect repellent, after sun care, sea salt bath soak, beach slippers and even a straw tote bag to carry your stuff to the beach, whatever you need for a resort stay – it is there.

Despite almost full house, service as usual is impeccable, the soft and friendly manner of the staff, always polite and attentive, paying attention to even small details and giving little delightful surprises.

Breakfast galore! Good and sumptuous spread, spoilt for choice with a wide variety of Western, Asian and local fare. Tanzie recommended Pak Tai and The Ranch for dinner and both are amazing especially Pak Tai, a gem – must try. Thank you Chef Dear and Chef Evo for the warm hospitality and beautiful food.

The pool and the private beach are the most popular hangout place, a pity the floating pool in the sea is taken out at this time of the year for safety reasons. That’s my highlight!

For excellent, first class service, with good amenities and facilities, great food and wonderful people all in one place – it has to be The Ritz Carlton. Thank you Tanzie and everyone, we had a fabulous time and will definitely be back again!

Hey Jess - Dinner Reservations you can do at Check - In . I recommend shopping around outside the hotel for a good Spa day. You'll save about £90 by going somewhere local. A Thai Massage and a Mani / Pedi was about £20 locally.
