This was our first trip to Thailand as our 40th Wedding Anniversary treat. After extensive research we chose Secret Garden over other hotels on Bangrak beach - based on reviews, website information, menu choices, value for money etc. So glad we did as everything met our expectations and so pleased we went for a deluxe poolside bungalow very near to beach and bar/ restaurant.
The staff are amazing - nothing too much trouble with service from restaurant and tips for trips at reception. The place is so well kept and room service is great with very regulars towel and bedding changes and little things like two bottles of water left everyday in the fridge.
The beach is a delight with soft sand and warm sea and the sunsets were amazing. It was great to walk either way along the shore from it’s central location on Big Buddha beach and you never get lost as the orange umbrellas and beach chairs stand out as a landmark.
There are a few decent restaurants and bars nearby as a change of scene but there is no need to bother if you want to base all your dining here as the food is both excellent and good value for money. We were able to alternate between Thai and Western food and breakfasts were a delight on the beach. There are small supermarkets nearby for basic provisions.

Originally booked 2 nights and ended up extending to 5 nights. Loved every bit of it.

Location is ideal, about 5 minutes drive from the fisherman's village!

We were welcomed by very friendly staff, both at the resort and the restaurant. Stayed in a Deluxe Poolside Bungalow, very cozy and stylish, with traits of Thai culture embedded inside. The resort is very private, about 15-20 rooms, lovely if you're looking for a peaceful environment.

The restaurant is right on the beach, so you can have your morning breakfast looking at an incredible landscape.

Something I particularly loved about the resort is how well the garden was kept, making those moments relaxing at the poolside very enjoyable! Would definitely recommend to everyone going to Samui!

Only 14 straw roofed huts either around a pool or bordering the beach. Our hut was a little back from the beach and within easy reach of the pool, restaurant and massage sala.
The staff were friendly and helpful and when there was a problem with their gas cooker breakfast was brought to our hut as soon as it was possible.
The restaurant was popular with outside customers but not overcrowded. On a live music night (surprisingly good) extra tables were procured to accommodate the extra demand. Buffet laid on was excellent and good value for money.
Room decor is basic with straw roof (waterproof) and exposed polished concrete but has all essential facilities such as wardrobes, safe, aircon and ensuite. As with most places we've visited a little maintenance wouldn't go amiss.
Would return when next in Koh Samui. Close to ferry terminal and airport too! (not on flightpath)

The bungalows are immaculate with huge comfy beds, however the thatch roofs don’t absorb any sound so sleep was punctuated by planes landing/taking off (airport is 10 mins away), the v noisy road, booming music from the bars next door and the live band that played at the restaurant on Sunday eve (ear piercingly loud!). I know this can’t be helped but I would have booked somewhere else (quieter) if I’d have know. The restaurant was great however, offering a good range of Thai and western options and the service was fantastic. Recommend getting breakfast included!

We stayed here for a week with my 2 small children. Lovely resort, decorated with taste. Well-trained staff. Food is great with options for meat lovers as well as super healthy poke bowls. Incredible ribs BBQ at least one night per week! The beach is very quiet and clean, not too big, not too small.
Bungalows are very clean, peaceful, well decorated.

We hesitated to travel after the COVID ban got lifted in Thailand but we are very happy that we did: the hotel is easy to access from the boat pier as well as from Samui's airport. Staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful; The hotel owner, Rik, is a very good manager, kind to his staff and genuinely helpful to the clients.

So I strongly recommend this gem of a resort (they have amazing rates at the moment too); If you are craving a trip somewhere in Thailand on a domestic flight, it is the perfect deal. And you will come back fully relaxed.

We enjoyed a lovely Friday nite at this lovely spot. Service was initially a bit slow but got better as the nite progressed. A lovely breeze was present the entire evening & we actually went to hear performer Oliver as well as check out the location. Very impressed by his selection, especially The Joker, Living Thing & Down Under. We'll definitely return to hear him again, great voice & skills. We also had a few drinks which were reasonably priced in addition to the Oriental Platter which was quite tasty. Glad we made it.

The resort is basically very good. The staff are extremely, pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. Especially in the bar/resturant. Setting is by the beach with well laid out gardens.

There are just two negative points. The rooms need sound proofing to minimize the traffic noise from the road. Also the sunbed covers need to be replaced/washed regularly as they are covered with bird droppings. That said the pool itself is beautifully clean.

We only booked Secret Garden for 1 night as we were staying at a private villa next door with a group of friends for my 50th birthday and we arrived 1 night early. It turned out to be a fantastic decision.

On arrival the staff were super friendly and efficient and showed us to our room.

The hotel is in a great location in the heart of the town and is right on the beach.
The room was a large cabin with a thatched style roof and almost felt like a yurt. The room was basic but was very clean and had everything we could have needed including good air conditioning, a TV, safe, good Wifi and even dressing robes and slippers. The bed was firm but extremely comfortable and we both had a great night's sleep after falling asleep to the sound of the ocean.

We had a room overlooking the pool and garden area which was close to the restaurant/bar. We had a great meal that evening at the restaurant and at breakfast the next day there was a large selection of local and 'western' food available. We both had the avocado toast with poached egg, which was perfectly cooked and delicious.

When my guests for the villa arrived, we all decided to go for lunch at the restaurant as it was so close. The food was so good that we went back for several lunches and evening meals there as a group, it was the best food we had, despite try a few other places and I can highly recommend their duck red curry, chicken green curry and the puled pork wrap for lunch. They also have a good selection of cocktails, but be careful if you have the long island iced tea, it packs a punch.
I would highly recommend the Secret Garden and won't hesitate to go back if I am in that part of Koh Samui again. I thought that it offered incredible value for money.

Sitting right on the beach this friendly little resort has a lot to offer. Individual beach bungalows just steps from the pool and beach, it's own in house restaurant which does breakfast lunch and dinner. It even has a different offer every day. There is live music on a Sunday which is always busy with people coming from elsewhere. The staff are great, attentive and friendly. We are in the middle of an 11 night stay are glad we came and would definitely come back.

It’s hard to review a property from a positive perspective when you’ve spent most of the time stuck in your room due to monsoonal weather. Of course the resort can’t help this but it does make you view your surrounds differently. Firstly the staff are great, particularly Fah & Ko Ko at reception, housekeeping and the restaurant were attentive too. I stayed in a beachfront bungalow. It was a fantastic size and nicely laid out (albeit needs a freshen up) with huge windows facing the water. The little porch would be lovely in the right conditions but there was no protection from the wind and rain and due to its exposure wasn’t used. The open toilet so close to the restaurant was a little off putting. The restaurant is large, again facing the water and I ate here at least once a day because of the convenience due to weather. The menu was extensive and the food was reasonable, prices need to be updated on their website tho. The location is OK but I didn’t have transport so felt a little isolated although there are restaurants and bars close by. I was told there was live music certain nights of the week and I was there for two of those and if you want a restful night, you won’t get it as you are next to the restaurant and the music is loud! That said, Koh Samui is quiet, really quiet which I thought would be appealing but in all honesty after 3 visits, I’m not sure I would return. It’s expensive to fly in and out and once there, expensive to stay, eat and get around!
