The setting of Le Moulin Neuf is that of a story book, a charming French country home draped in blooming vines and surrounded by reflecting ponds and streams. Our host, Robert, was delightful, ensuring we had a memorable experience as we picnicked on the property with our own treats and wine found locally. His breakfasts and coffee are delectable and prepared fresh every day, accompanied by the best coffee we enjoyed on our entire trip. Our rooms were furnished in keeping with the design of the French countryside and bathrooms were modern and immaculate. This B&B is perfect for couples, friends, or family!

This was our second visit and there will be more. Indeed, all driving holidays around France will have to be shoe-horned around starting in the Dordogne, because I cannot imagine wanting to spend the first few days of our holiday anywhere else. Robert is an outstanding host and Le Moulin Neuf is an outstanding chambre d'hote. Stunning grounds, lovely rooms, wonderful breakfasts - all is charming and Robert is charm personified. Every restaurant recommendation is flawless, as are the rooms. Paunat and the surrounding area of the Dordogne is very lucky indeed to have Robert Chappell and le Moulin Neuf in their midst.

Please note that my previous review of this visit appeared under a different log in which I don't recognise!

Le Moulin Neuf is a gem of a B&B. Set in wonderful grounds along a stream valley in which wildlife abounds, this is a haven of quiet and beauty, away from the crowds yet within easy access by car of all the key sites in the Dordogne.

Host Robert is the paradigm B&B owner against whom we measure all others. Charming, friendly, helpful. Breakfasts are consistently lovely - freshly made, delicious fresh fruit salads, yoghurts, fresh bread, croissants and pains au chocolat, good coffee. Robert recommends local restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets and books your table for you each day

This was our 4th visit after a five year break from France. It remains superb in every way and this year Robert welcomed our two dogs, who got on well with the resident dogs and seemed to enjoy Le Moulin Neuf almost as much as we did!

I can not speak highly enough of this paradise retreat.
Le Moulin Neuf is beautiful, peaceful, traditional, relaxing and much more.
I have just spent 3 nights with friends visiting this gorgeous place.
The host Robert is just perfect bringing breakfast over in the morning with fresh croissants, fresh bread and jam and lovely coffee and a selection of teas.
The accommodation is beautifully furnished and all 6 bedrooms come with huge en suite bathrooms. The nearby countryside is spectacular I recommend the canoeing on the Dordorgne.
Juliens restaurant is fabulous with a great selection on the menu and is only 10 minutes walk away.
We saw wonderful wildlife including Deer, an eagle, a kingfisher and Herons galore.
A very special place.

Robert's Le Moulin Neuf came recommended and boy, we could see why. Definitely off the beaten track, extremely quiet with no light pollution whatsoever. Robert's administration and directions were word perfect. A delightful place set in (I believe) 15 acres of his land - including a trout lake. Walks from the doorstep and fabulous eateries a 10' (steep) walk away. Seats and loungers strategically placed, tea and coffee making facilities available in main lounge (where breakfast is served on cooler Autumnal mornings).

We had Room 4 - fresh greens & blues with quite a large bathroom. Shutters to all windows and unobstructed views of the garden from them all. Not overlooked at all. 89 Eu per night (cash only) and worth every penny. A full continental breakfast with a carefully prepared fruit salad, plus prunes and figs etc. Massive choice of croissants and bread/jams. Definitely a place I'd return to. Thank you particularly to Robert - a helpful Englishman - who couldn't have done more to welcome his clientelle. He even booked our evening meal at the local GARDEN PARTY at Limeuil. JULIEN's also comes very highly recommended. Julien's MUST be booked.

Hands down, Le Moulin Neuf was our favorite place to stay on our entire vacation. Robert was such a generous host, the property was tranquil and inviting, the room was well appointed with every personal touch thought of and provided. Robert was kind enough to make reservations at Chez Julien for our evening stay (contact him well ahead of time so you can get a table) and gave simple, easy to follow directions on how to get there. Our biggest regret was only spending one night at this magical place. Had we known, we would have planned things differently indeed. Breakfast was lovely: jams and breads, croissants, fresh fruits, cheeses, hot tea, chocolate or coffee. We loved visiting with the other guests and sharing our adventures. Truly a gem not to be missed!

The location only adds to the ambience andexperience of a stay at Le Moulin Neuf. Robert is a superb host with many helpful ideas of what to see and where to eat. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with all the hot French Press coffee one could ask for. The setting is remarkable with beautifully landscaped gardens , streams and a pond. Very peaceful and restful. All this at an amazingly low price.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from Moulin Neuf and had a wonderful time. Greeted by Robert, one of the proprietors, with their dogs and a cat you instantly feel welcomed and at home. The property is set in beautifully tended grounds and you can tell that everything has been done "with love". The room we stayed in was spacious and tastefully decorated with a huge bathroom and the most amazing view of the garden- what a way to start the day! Breakfast was simple but delicious and in the sitting room available to all guests, warmed by a wood burning stove. Robert and Stuart are well known and clearly liked in the area and you find yourself getting preferential treatment when you mention their name in local restaurants. A lovely place to stay and visit and we will definitely be going back. Good value for money - the only sticking point for us was a dodgy wifi signal. Ps website does not do it justice.

Four Stars - the host, the surroundings, the rooms and the breakfast!
The English host, Robert, is charm personified and nothing is too much trouble for him. He's been looking after guests for 25 years and still is as enthusiastic as the day he started!
The mill and the barn conversion guesthouse stand in acres of pastoral paradise - tree -shaded nooks, a tinkling stream, trout lake, river - with nothing but birdsong to punctuate the silence.
The rooms are well decorated and ours was very comfortable. They vary in size - ours (room 4) is the biggest and enjoys a very pleasant aspect. There is an equally comfortable communal sitting room.
Breakfast is par excellence. In the summer it is served on the patio and I can't think of a better way to start the day.
What are you waiting for?
