If I could give Uppergate Farm more than 5 stars I would. I cannot describe accurately how wonderful our stay was but I'll try. We stayed in the Beechwood Shepard's Hut, looking for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. The location is ideal; down a forest track, away from everything. there are a couple of Yurts in the firest as well, but you couldn't see them from where we were. The hut was immaculate, beautifully decorated, cosy, and with essentials such as toiletries, cutlery, kitchenware, and even robes for the hot tub. There are garden shoes by the door which was a lovely touch - books to read, games to play. Everything was so well-thought out. It is so quiet and peaceful - the perfect place to just unwind. You have wood and firestarting supplies for the wood stove and BBQ, and the hot tub was simply fantastic after a long day of walking. Everyone we spoke to was polite and welcoming, and there's a well-stocked honesty shop in case you've forgotten anything. It also has a great choice of local treats, like honey, meats and chutney available! We had lunch at the Butcher's Arms and I would certainly recommend the beef sandwich which came with a pot of dipping gravy! Overall, this was one of the best places I have ever stayed and I can't wait to come back again.

What a fabulous stay we had, the hosts were very welcoming and friendly. The cottage was very well equipped and clean and the added bonus of swimming pool and sauna. We would not hesitate to stay again, thank you once again for our lovely weekend away at your fabulous property and farm. Best wishes Jackie and Dave Sims-Manchester.

Had a great stay at Uppergate Farm. We stayed in the uppergate barn and had lots of fun. The barn had plenty of space and was very well equipped and we had use of our hot tub. Highlights were the use of the pool, we were lucky enough to get use of the pool to ourselves as there were 9 of us, we got to use it every day. The owners contacted us before hand asking us what times we would like. Luckily they messaged me to say I’d forgot the first night and offered me a later slot (my children were very thankful!) The best bit though was feeding the animals, especially the lambs. My children loved it, it was really special and collecting the eggs each morning, which we would then purchase. Would totally recommend the farm. Lots of restaurants and places to visit near by.

We had the perfect family holiday at Uppergate Farm. This was our second visit with a young family and we can't wait to return again soon. The accommodation is very well kept and outstandingly clean. We had the added bonus of a hot tub with our cottage, which was spotlessly clean and checked daily by Steve and the team. The highlight is the animal feeding and egg collecting every morning - Klavs is the perfect guide. Our son still calls every farmer in his storybooks and his lego farmers Klavs! The pool is an incredible bonus, which is kept amazingly clean. Also the games hut is a perfect distraction for the occasional rainy afternoon. We were contacted well in advance with all the information required for arrival and could choose our pool slots for each day then. Steve even took delivery of our food shop when we got stuck in traffic on the way there. The team really do go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay. We can't wait to visit again!

We stayed at Bray Cottage on Uppergate Farm in mid-May 2023, with our baby and grandparents. We were helped out by some lovely weather, but we had a truly excellent stay - this is a beautiful, authentic and peaceful farm in a picturesque part of the country, surrounded by lots of things for fun or relaxation (not least on the farm itself, which goes above and beyond to make its guests feel like very welcome old friends). We loved it so much we’ve already booked the same week and cottage again next year.

The cottage was perfectly furnished for a family stay, with everything we could want and need. We slept with our baby in the large, bright and airy downstairs bedroom (take lots of blackout blinds if you use them with your little ones, as windows are big!), and my parents upstairs in the double bedroom. Both bedrooms were comfy and well-equipped. The kitchen is excellent and large for a holiday-let, with again everything we needed to cook and enjoy our stay (although we had to hunt around for some not-so-obvious drawers to find some things). The living room / dining room is a lovely warm and cozy, yet surprisingly large space, where we enjoyed relaxing while our little one ran circles around the floor with his toys. Bathrooms also great.

The farm itself is also such a beautiful, relaxing and fun location. The private pool sessions (with time you can book just for your cottage each day) were great, and really helped keep our little one entertained each day between trips out.

The farm is also excellently located - we had great and relatively easy trips out to Cannon Hall Farm, Whistlestop Valley, Holmfirth and The Carding Shed.

And last but not least, we loved the morning trips around the farm to collect eggs and feed the animals. Our little one enjoyed them so much he was dashing for the door each morning. Klavs was patient, knowledgable and excellent with guests old and young, helping us all “help out”. A real highlight of the holiday.

We honestly couldn’t have wanted or asked for a better trip. It was our first proper holiday with our baby/toddler and it was so reassuring to have everything we needed and an environment that helped us keep him busy and entertained, it really meant everyone had a great break together.

We had a fantastic week at Uppergate in May. Four adults and two children in Bray Cottage, which was perfect for us and had everything we needed. The highlights of the week were definitely the animal feeding sessions and the pool. As it wasn’t the school holidays my granddaughter got five feeding sessions all to herself! Thanks to Klavs for keeping the chat and jokes going!! The pool was amazing. Alison emailed well in advance with suggested slots for us and it all worked really well. What a treat to have the whole pool just for our family! We loved the area, hadn’t been there before but will definitely be back. An excellent place for a family holiday. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Went with our daughter and son-in-law with our grandson (16mths). Had a wonderful time, feeding the farm animals and collecting the eggs most mornings. The cottage (Bray) was very well equipped and we wanted for nothing. We booked a daily pool session which just added to the whole experience. Staff and owners were all very helpful and approachable. The little farm shop meant we could order some provisions before we arrived or just pop along for fresh eggs whenever we wanted them, even better because we had collected them that morning . Cottage was really clean and safe for our grandson to wander around. We enjoyed it so much we have booked the same week next year.

We had a brilliant week at Uppergate Farm in Grove Farm Cottage. It exceeded expectations in every way. My two year old was in his element feeding the animals each morning with “Farmer Steve” and “Farmer Klaus”. The pool was incredible with a booking system which means you have the whole place to yourself once a day. It was warm and very clean perfect for a toddler and grandparents. The cottage was perfect and we were able to bring our cocker spaniel who loved lots of walks. Access was no problem at all and a fab pub two mins walk from the farm. We went to book again over the summer and was all booked up but we will definitely be returning. Thanks so much to Steve and family.
