Most recommended place, well done to Jeremy and his professional team. Very neat place, with stunning view on magnificent turquoise lagoon and sandy beach. Very courteous Manager and Staff. A must... Vincent and Brigitte Labat
We stayed here 4 nights at the end of Feb. 2020. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this guest house. The reception recommended us a very good private taxi guide who showed us around the island. If we have the chance to return one day on this beautiful Island we will stay here again. Sad that the Japanese Tanker that sunk on the coast of Mauritius spilled gasoline on parts of this coast. We hope that the corals are not completely destroyed and that the marine life will regenerate from this ecological disaster.
Mauritius is a beautiful country with beautiful people. Blue Beryl Guest house was our first stay in Mauritius and boy it is a hidden jewel. You wake up to see sunrise by the beach. Corals and just a step away. We used to wake up in the morning and venture out for snorkeling even before the breakfast. Why would you not when then beach is your backyard ! Breakfast was good and you get to order how you want your eggs made. Ask for omelette with cheese and croissants. Staff & Facilities : Staff was very polite and very helpful. Everyone was fluent in English, French, Creole. If you are from India then there are high chances that some of the staff can communicate in Hindi. Rooms were clean and have tea/coffee/kettle and Fridge. If you need any utensils then you can ask for them. They also have shower facilities in the backyard to clean yourself after the beach run. They also have life saving vests, noodle pool, snorkeling gear but we did not use them as we had brought our own. Transport : If you prefer using public transport then bus stop is in the front of the property. Taxi stand is also just there. They have ample of car parking so no problem if you hare hire a car. Mobile Sim and Money Exchange: If you don't want to use overseas roaming then EMTEL (telecom provider) provides a tourist pack Rs.500 for 100 GB for 30 days. Just walk to any Emtel shop. There are many in Mauritius. We went to the one in Mahebourg since we had car. Do not take any SIM at the airport as they might not be able to offer this deal. We exchanged Aussie dollars at airport and you do get a good rate. Do not exchange at your home country. Always get local currency from the local exchange. (same applies when you want Mauritius rupee exchanged to your local currency, do it at your country) Tourist Activities : Blue Bay is just a minute walk away. You can take a full day boat trip to Ile Aux Cerf, Ile Aux Aigrettes and snorkeling around the marine park (lunch on the beach ) included. Be cautious and avoid shell fish on this trip as you may catch norovirus. Chicken or Fish is good. I would recommend taking this trip a day in advance and don't book it online as you will end up paying in Euros instead of Mauritius rupee. Just walk to the bay and there are people sitting there taking booking. We got our trip around Rs.2500 /- per adult. Do ask for a deal and they will do whatever they can. They will not take any advance for booking and you can pay just before you board onto the boat. Don't take the 1 hour snorkeling trip to marine park as the 1 day trip has this included. Local Restaurant : There are few good restaurants in blue bay. Don't worry if you are a vegetarian. Every restaurant will have a vegetarian dish even if you don't see that on the online menu. Overall the guest house is really good and I would go again if I'am in Mauritius. Note : December is a shoulder season and beginning of the cyclone season. Some days will be cloudy and some will be bright. Sometimes you might have cyclonic conditions which will go away in a day or 2 but if they are class III then everything is closed in Mauritius and you will be grounded in the guest house till the warning is reduced to class II or I. Please do not drive when it is class III even if it looks ok as any damage is not covered by insurance.…
Loved staying here, clean rooms. Friendly staff! Loved beach access and the snorkeling were awesome! Location is perfect. Great local area with plenty of options to do and eat! Close to the airport! Loved the plane watching from the guesthouse.
We had a two-bedroom apartment, which is spacious, nice and clean with 2 bathrooms and an extra toilet. The service provided is great, we had daily cleaning and change of towels. The breakfast is good with freshly made egg on order. On the day of our departure, the landlady specially made early breakfast for us at 6 am, this was very much appreciated. The location is excellent for sea swimming or snorkeling, just a few minutes’ walk along the sea front, it is the Blue Bay public beach. However, the water is a bit cold and it is windy in October. The reception (=the host) is very friendly and helpful, provides useful information. Considering the spacious apartment and the good services, it is very good value for money and highly recommended. The balcony is very small in our apartment (above the restaurant). …
